I hope I'm vertical at 83. You are my new hero. I can't speak for the newer models of the Vulcan S, but there are three 'quirks' my 2015 possesses you should be ready to deal with. 1) Other than 1st gear, the bike is unhappy below about 3500 rpm. 2) Rolling off a 5000 ish rpm pace but keeping her in gear will produce WAY more engine braking than typical V-twins, so a slow hand is more comfy. 3) This one is subjective, but the 7/8 inch handlebar taper at the ends leaves a throttle and left hand grip that are a bit narrow for my tastes. I gave my 2015 well over 2000 miles as a trial, but ended up getting a slip over grip to increase the grip size. (MC 401 from Grab On grips) Still, my new-to-me 2015 Vulcan S is hands down the favorite bike I've ridden. Tame and solid control at 4500 rpm, and downright quick if pressed over 6000 rpm.
It is worth mentioning that Vulcan S has a parallel-twin engine instead of a V-twin design, and therefore, it has very different control riding characteristics. When I go to very light throttle, it gets a slight vibration/shudder. Not really lugging motor and it will accelerate fine. The Vulcan S simply doesn’t like “light throttle “. It likes to be wound out and shifted around 5000 rpm. I wanted to shift at 2000 rpm and ride at 2500 to 3000 rpm and Vulcan S engine doesn’t like that (shudder and vibrate). I now shift at 4500 to 5000 rpm and cruise around 5000 rpm. It just takes some getting used to (for those who used to ride a V-twin bike).
I'm a competent learner rider and I usually use my wife's Honda Rebel for my lessons, but I was looking at buying my own bike so I test rode a Kawasaki Vulcan because I really liked the look. I rode round my suburb with the seller shadowing me on my wife's Rebel, and then we went on a larger road where the speed limit was 80kmh. At this speed in 6th gear the Vulcan did indeed have a very bad engine vibration/shudder!! So bad that it put me off buying the bike. This was an almost new Vulcan with only about 7000kms on the clock!! A few days later I rode my wife's Rebel at the same speed and gear, and it was like night and day!! Hi Mark. I am Sunny from India. I had been riding Royal Enfield bikes for last 21 years. This is the first bike which I am using for last 2 years which is not RE and I am very happy with it. I did high speed cruising also at 185 kmph for brief period of time and it was good. It is a confidence inspiring bike.
I'm coming from the sportbike and track world and I'm considering this for my first cruiser. Not only because of the engine which is basically a carryover from the Ninja 650, but I'm pretty sure the forks and rear shock were carried over from the '09-'16 Ninja as well. Going by pictures they look exactly the same. And Ohlins makes a shock and fork cartridge kit for it. That would make this the ultimate cruiser for me. I'm looking at the Cafe version myself.
Great review and a great bike. Have had mine for a year and still get a buzz everytime I get on it. Great for relaxing Sunday cruises but also took it on a 750 mile tour last year (in between lockdowns) and it was faultless. Planning another post-lockdown tour around the South West for July/August. I bought this in preference to a Harley Davidson SuperLow 850 as pretty much every review comparing the Vulcan with this said the Vulcan was superior. They were right!
As a rider of sports bikes and super naked bikes, I think nowadays these bikes make a lot of sense. Comfortable, fast enough for our roads, less chance of losing your licence and now with fuel prices as they are, 60mpg is great. I'm really considering one. Also like the fact you can alter the pegs, especially as I'm 6ft 2
Bought one 6 days ago. The dealership didn't even know THEY were supposed to change out the ergo-fit parts without charging me for it. Then they tried telling me the handlebars that came with the Vulcan S were the reduced reach. I measured them and knew the handlebars were mid-reach. I called Kawasaki and asked which handlebars the motorcycles was shipped with from the factory... I was told "mid-reach". I got a voicemail from a manager today asking me to call. I asked for all communications be done through e-mail. Let's see what happens. I hate dealerships
Great review. I am 45 and never had a motorcycle and will be getting my licence soon. I will consider this as the one to get because of this very informative review. Thanks Mark.
Just got myself a 2016 model really really nice bike , great bike for a new rider .. good low speed control. Its got a nice poke when you need it, the chest wind is a bit much but ive only rode it in march weather and thinking of getting a small widesheild to deflect it up a bit . Im using her every day for short rides and so far , shes not put a foot wrong. 42 miles per gallon , town riding ...over 174 miles . 64,2 miles per gallon on a 116 mile.. A road trip. . Youll need a padock stand for rear work .
I am sure I will get caned for saying this but if I was in market for a cruiser then I would more likely look at a Vulcan than a Harley. Another nice review - thanks Mark. Great to have you back!
Nice review. Had one 6 years ago and felt it a tad sluggish. Sold it and got a GTR 1400, I'm now looking at purchasing the Vulcan 650 again as a good all round bike, my need for speed diminished.
If you want to get better power from it, look up videos on unlocking it. There's a bolt and a plug you can remove to get more power and speed out of it. Americans only have the plug, but most of Europe has the bolt too.
So I am basically homeless, do you guys think the stimulus check (2000?) would be enough of a down payment to get one of these or maybe a used one? What would be good for someone traveling and sleeping in a tent? Good beginner bike, efficient on gas and reliable, 2 stroke engines are easy to work on I have heard. Thank you for the advice! Hope to be able to cruise like my dad who had a Harley V Star and would goto Little Sturgis and other cool festivals.
Great review of a very good bike. I love my Vulcan S. I really think Kawasaki got this bike pretty much bang on. I'm surprised you didn't mention the uncomfortable seat though, maybe Kawasaki have sorted it for the new 2020 models? I agree with all your comments, very stable bike, brakes pretty good, great handling and punchy engine. Very capable and affordable bike.
👍 picking up a 2016 model with 3000 miles on it in a couple of weeks 😀 . Trading my NC750X - 2014 as I'm getting old (71 this year ) and need something lower and easier to get my leg over 🤔 .
Hi Mark. I bought a CBR500R not long ago but im struggling with the seat height as im only 5,3. Is there much difference in performance between the Honda and this one.I think the Vulcan might be a better bet with the low riding position.
Hi Philip...the Vulcan is 65 hp Vs 46 hp of the honda . It is quite a bit faster but the honda I'd still great day to day machine and much more economical also the honda has a low seat height so you should be fine with it :) Best regards mark
Thanks for the honest and well mannered review Mark. I enjoyed watching and hearing you talk about your ride. I believe that this will be a really good beginner bike for me.
Mark love your channel, always professional and non biased. If you are ever in the States specifically Louisiana you have a place to rest your head here in Cajun country! Keep up the good work my brother!
OMG..... I actually recognize the road your on. It's part of the route we take to get down to Swanage. Haven't ridden in about 12 years and looking to get back into it. Your review was very helpful.
It's funny you mentioning the low seat as an advantage. I'm in the market for my first bike, but I'm also very tall (200cm, I think it's about 6''5') and I keep hearing Vulcan S is a good choice for tall riders because of its 'ergo fit' (the adjustable pegs you mentioned being part of the feature) while being a great beginner bike. I'm waiting for my local dealership to get it in stock so I can try for myself, but I'm really hoping the seat adjustability will be enough, cause I think I'm already in love with this bike.
Hi Jan yes should be good for you as it's a feet forward position you can really stretch your legs out rather than say a sports bike where the legs are up and back Best regards mark
Love your videos Mark! Do you have a preference out of the Kawasaki Vulcan S and the Super Meteor 650? And if so, what are you reasons. Thank you so much.
Hi Simon easy answer....super meteor for me .... reason being the engine is a 270 crank with gives it a v twin feel and sound ...the Vulcan is a 180 which is buzzier Best wishes mark
Thank you, Mark. The Super Meteor is the one I've been wanting ever since it came out, but I was worried it might be too heavy for me or I might not be able to reach the ground comfortably (I'm 59 years old and 5"9) so I think I was kind of covering all bases just in case. Really loved your review of the Super Meteor too (and all your videos!). Thanks again. Best wishes. Simon
Thanks for review I’ve been looking for a new bike especially one for the shorter rider, your review has convinced me the Vulcan is the one, I’m off to my dealer next week to check it out. Thank you 👍🏼
This bike always catches my eye at the shops. As odd as the muffler looks, it's way better than anything Harley does these days. The Sportster S is stupid fast, but you better wrap your right thigh in asbestos, as the white hot exhaust pipe is right there.
Lovely review. I looking at getting back on a bike after 20 yrs off. Looking into these and you have convinced me and gave me the confidence to take the plunge. Thank you 👍👍😉
Love the reviews. In your opinion if you were to ride 6+ hours, which would you choose for comfort- Ninja s1000sx or Vulcan S? Thanks for your time. Canadian rider long distances.
Hi travis ,100 % the new s1000sx,the vulcan is great ,but the z1000sx,is so involving with its awesome engine, brakes ,good comfort the list goes on ....its going to be my next bike also :)
Meriwether Vulcan s was my first bike 4 years ago. I upgraded to a Vulcan s last weekend just for antilock brakes. My original didn’t have them and I liked the excuse to buy one in a great color. Waiting for my ergo parts to be sent to the dealer and set up.
Excellent review. Sat on one today. Love at first sit! So a return to two wheels for me as well after a bit of a layoff. 76 and excited to get back! Now looking for an affordable used Vulcan.
Thanks to your review and also the one from the One Eyed Biker, I took the plunge and ordered one - the performance model - and she'll will be ready to pick up in a couple of weeks. Thanks again for this thorough review, Mark. Much appreciated.
@@markpulling12 You're right....can't wait.... it took me a while because of all the options to settle on the performance pack. I read some forums that folk say you gain at the top end but the Arrow loses a bit of torque compared to the standard exhaust....but I was smitten as the Arrow sounds and looks good plus I didn't really need the touring panniers and stuff. Counting the days now...cheers
Thanks Mark, great review thank you. This looks like one off the best bikes if you are new to biking and you are into cruising from what you described?
For maintenance, I agree, but with chain the gear ratio and performance can be tuned a bit. The 46/15 sprockets can be altered to 15/43 or 16/46 for a lower rev rate and somewhat better mileage as well as a less jumpy throttle at low rpm, or the ratio can be lowered for more torque and acceleration. And, besides, if I'm going to lowest maintenance, I might choose a shaft drive. My old shadow (shaft) went 60k with nary an issue and I only sold it because the kids were taking up so much time I never rode.
Flipping coins on rhis bike. Love the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 for different reasons. Just for an opinion, what would be your choice if you had to pick one? Love your reviews.
I have the super meteor 650 at the moment for 2 weeks from RE ...the engine is so much smoother and nicer ... 💯 I'd go for the Enfield ...you won't notice the less power as it has more torque Cheers mark
The strange thing for me even at 5'10 found the Kawasaki more comfortable maybe being lower? The seat height of the RE felt tall for a cruiser and seemed to dig in to the inside of my thighs. Something with all the bikes I be ridden not felt that discomfort before. Both bikes have alot to live. Test rides booked for both. I am hoping the RE will be my purchase. I have followed it from inception and the comfort will come once on the road!
Hi Geoff the rebel 500 is smaller ,cheaper and less power however for me I really enjoyed the rebel as it really suits just cruising around about 55/60 and it's more economical....so I'd say if you want more speed and power get the Kawasaki if you are happy just pottering about get the rebel Cheers mark
Thank you, for the video, Can I ask you something? Do you recommend this bike for beginners (I never was on a motorbike, I want to make my driving license for A this year, I have B more than 10 years).
Awesome review - thanks mate 👍 I’m chatting with the guys at Bournemouth Kawasaki about upgrading my ride, and I think you’ve just given me my winner .... need me some Vulcan 🖖
I dont think that the bike is build for crusing under 4000 rpm, i usually cruise between 5,500-7,500 and you can go even more. To forget it's a ninza 650 engine
The dealership I work at has one available that a customer traded in! For the right price it's going to be mine! I'm a beginner so I'm hoping it'll be good to learn on.
I am not new to biking. Driving for 20 years now. Basically daily even. ....Last ine was the GSX-R 1000 with 200HP (Power Commander) But people always use the phrasing "its an beginners bike." ..I´d just say its a great bike overall!
I'm looking to start biking so thinking this would be a great bike (restricted for A2 as I'm not 24). The looks really excite me and it looks a great starter
@@markpulling12 that was my other option yes, the reason I'm more drawn to the vulcan is because after 2 years when it comes to being able to do unrestricted, I can just remove the restriction when you don't get that from a 500 because it offers the max power on A2 without need of restrictions.
Excellent review as always, Mark. It seems the major Japanese manufacturers have all but given up on Cruiser style bikes these days - there is pretty much nothing between the Vulcan S and a Goldwing these days.
Does the feet-forward position put stress on your lower back, Mark? Excellent review, which like all your others, tells the prospective buyer all they need to know.
Thanks no I didn't find any issues with lower back .. if anything very comfortable for long rides . . Really surprised me how much I enjoyed it all the best mark
@@markpulling12 I am kind of tenuously considering one as my main bike in Chiang Rai, a Yamaha Aerox 155 scooter being my city ride. But I've kind of considered just about every available bike there is. I'm just over 6' but my inside leg is only 32'', so I think I'd fit on it.
Hmm.. In India, Service interval is 6000 KM ☹️ Here’re a few negatives after My 10000 Km of riding in India.. Its low ground clearance and a little soft suspension are quite a pain for me.. Seat looks plush, but my butt hurts after 2 hours of riding and I’m using air seat on long rides..Many others I know have replaced the seat with aftermarket ones.. Long wheelbase makes it difficult to take U turns.. Some of the parts are of plastic and quite delicate . They could have been of better quality. Exhaust note could have had more grunt.. Head lamp is still Halogen and not bright.. Vulcan has seen very little updates since its launch.. It’s time for some updates - eg., LED Head lamp.. In spite of the above drawbacks, I’m quite happy that I bought this one and I’m excited to take her on every ride even after 1.5 years!!
Suyog Ghosh : Bangalore.. Low ground clearance didn’t quite damage the bike in the city due to low riding speeds. However it did cause a damage to underbelly exhaust on Highway when I was riding at a considerably high speed and couldn’t reduce the speed while crossing a speed bump in a section of the road which was under construction. This kind of a damage happened twice and I spent around Rs 1800 each time for repairs which included welding and realignment..
Cheers Mark I do really love this bike its looks and its style im a new biker im definitely getting one of these for my first bike. Thank you for the review definitely helped me make my decision
Nice vid. thanks. Wanted to get myself one , back in Feb' 2020 , but the dealer copped an attitude with me and a long-time customer, then told me ...... May or late April ..... Yamaha came in cheaper for payments, and initial price ..... So I bought a Bolt, ( 947 CC = 58 Cubic inch), Bigger engine = more HP and longer legs ... ( 5 speed vs 6 speed)= faster than the V-S, and the Yammy is air cooled....a bug filled rad isn't a worry now... nuff said ... Ciao
@@markpulling12 yeah I usually run through Swanage and Ulwell and run across the top to the T junction at Corfu. Definitely need to slow down as you approach the last bends, have found stationary traffic there in the summer. 👍
Hi Mark, I’m curious about the vibration because my Ninja 650 has the same engine as the Vulcan and I’d like to know if you felt vibration from the twin and at what speeds. Seems to get annoying on the 650 around 75 mph +. Thanks!
I have a 2006 Harley 883 custom with 4040 miles bought in 2011. just do not ride it much. want too get rid of it and buy something like this but in a 750 cc. it is a nice bike.
I have a bad back, I get the impression that all bumps would go right up your spine, as opposed to normal sitting positions in which they go through your knees
Hi victor ...well I enjoyed both ...the rebel looks a little quirky :)..... depends on if you want a little more power and higher speed cruising with the Kawasaki.... personally I'd go for the rebel with the type of riding I do these days ...cruises at 60/70 mph easily and incredible economy Cheers mark
The Vulcan S was on the top of the list of bikes I want to own. It was JUST knocked off the #1 spot by the launch of the Super Meteor 650, but it is a close race 🤗
@@Myndi78 each to their own regarding colour options..I test ride both, meteor was too slow for me on highway and bit to old fashioned looking so bought the Matt black Vulcan which look menacing and unique, enjoy whatever bike you decide on 👍
@@ZXspectrum.. Yeah speed is not a huge factor for me, there are too many great winding roads in my country so I don't really do much highway anyways. Unfortunatly there are also very strict laws here regarding customization, wich is why the Vulcan has really appealed to me, it is just gorgeous right out of the box, and doesn't NEED upgrades like for example a Harley Davidson would. But it is also a more modern looking cruiser and I honestly prefer a more meaty oldschool style like the one Super Meteor has. And I am in love with the dark green paintscheme 😍 But like I said it was a close race, so lots of congratulations on your Vulcan it IS a wicked bike!
Great review, thank you. My only suggestion would be, I think you missed this bikes party trick. Really give her some and she turns into an absolute rocket.
Thanks for the vid, I was considering one of these as a second bike, but stopped watching as soon as you started it up. The parallel twin sound, got to be one of the worst sounding engines.
Great review. I have just bought one, having it delivered Monday. Just started biking again after a 50 year lay off. Yes, I'm 83 now 😃

Very capable and affordable bike.
yes paul ,i was very impressed with it ...well priced too...no the seat felt comfy to me all the best mark
👍 picking up a 2016 model with 3000 miles on it in a couple of weeks 😀 . Trading my NC750X - 2014 as I'm getting old (71 this year ) and need something lower and easier to get my leg over 🤔 .
Thanks so much, Mark. I pulled the plug today and pick mine up Friday :-) Thanks for the ride and good info. Ha, can’t wait! Ride safe as always, sir.
nice one mitch ..great choice :)
It is quite a bit faster but the honda I'd still great day to day machine and much more economical also the honda has a low seat height so you should be fine with it :)
Best regards mark
Thanks for the honest and well mannered review Mark. I enjoyed watching and hearing you talk about your ride. I believe that this will be a really good beginner bike for me.
Definitely Chris ... these are really good
Cheers mark
Mark love your channel, always professional and non biased. If you are ever in the States specifically Louisiana you have a place to rest your head here in Cajun country! Keep up the good work my brother!
Many thanks my mum lives in Kentucky USA funnily enough...I was there last year
Thanks for your kind offer

Hi Jan yes should be good for you as it's a feet forward position you can really stretch your legs out rather than say a sports bike where the legs are up and back
Best regards mark
Love your videos Mark! Do you have a preference out of the Kawasaki Vulcan S and the Super Meteor 650? And if so, what are you reasons. Thank you so much.
Hi Simon easy answer....super meteor for me .... reason being the engine is a 270 crank with gives it a v twin feel and sound ...the Vulcan is a 180 which is buzzier
Best wishes mark
Thank you, Mark. The Super Meteor is the one I've been wanting ever since it came out, but I was worried it might be too heavy for me or I might not be able to reach the ground comfortably (I'm 59 years old and 5"9) so I think I was kind of covering all bases just in case. Really loved your review of the Super Meteor too (and all your videos!). Thanks again. Best wishes. Simon
Great to see us and my z1000sx turned up last week , partly on the back of your reviews
Thanks for review I’ve been looking for a new bike especially one for the shorter rider, your review has convinced me the Vulcan is the one, I’m off to my dealer next week to check it out. Thank you 👍🏼
Ok Kevin thanks....yes it's a great bike regards mark
This bike always catches my eye at the shops. As odd as the muffler looks, it's way better than anything Harley does these days. The Sportster S is stupid fast, but you better wrap your right thigh in asbestos, as the white hot exhaust pipe is right there.
Lovely review. I looking at getting back on a bike after 20 yrs off.
Looking into these and you have convinced me and gave me the confidence to take the plunge. Thank you 👍👍😉
My pleasure .. good luck 🤞
Cheers mark
Love the reviews. In your opinion if you were to ride 6+ hours, which would you choose for comfort- Ninja s1000sx or Vulcan S? Thanks for your time. Canadian rider long distances.
Hi travis ,100 % the new s1000sx,the vulcan is great ,but the z1000sx,is so involving with its awesome engine, brakes ,good comfort the list goes on ....its going to be my next bike also :)
Thanks for the vid.
Two questions:
1) No cruise control? I would expect that on a cruiser.
2) Would you recommend for a newer rider?
Hi ,cruise control would put the price right up ..but yes i agree would be nice and yes perfect for a new rider all the best mark
You can always add an aftermarket throttle lock. And yes its a perfect first bike that can also be a keeper.
Meriwether Vulcan s was my first bike 4 years ago. I upgraded to a Vulcan s last weekend just for antilock brakes. My original didn’t have them and I liked the excuse to buy one in a great color. Waiting for my ergo parts to be sent to the dealer and set up.
@@notyouraveragebroomstick3578 Nice, thank you :D
@@saidabimelec8506 also it's just like 15 bucks lol
Great to have you back Mark, another ideal review thanks. One thing... It's the ground remember not the floor 👍😎👍.
Excellent review. Sat on one today. Love at first sit! So a return to two wheels for me as well after a bit of a layoff. 76 and excited to get back! Now looking for an affordable used Vulcan.
Lovely bike. New to motorcycling and a short rider at 5’2. Would love this when I pass my test 😊
Good luck with your test edna :)
This is a great bike

Thanks to your review and also the one from the One Eyed Biker, I took the plunge and ordered one - the performance model - and she'll will be ready to pick up in a couple of weeks. Thanks again for this thorough review, Mark. Much appreciated.
No problem .... great choice
Bet you can't wait
Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 You're right....can't wait.... it took me a while because of all the options to settle on the performance pack. I read some forums that folk say you gain at the top end but the Arrow loses a bit of torque compared to the standard exhaust....but I was smitten as the Arrow sounds and looks good plus I didn't really need the touring panniers and stuff. Counting the days now...cheers
Thanks Mark, great review thank you. This looks like one off the best bikes if you are new to biking and you are into cruising from what you described?
My pleasure!
Seems a nice bike but pity it doesn't have belt drive - so much better than chain for this type of bike.
My old shadow (shaft) went 60k with nary an issue and I only sold it because the kids were taking up so much time I never rode.
awesome review! I've been stuck between this and the Vulcan 900. This video really helps me! thank you!
No probs james ...these are great bikes cheers mark
Flipping coins on rhis bike. Love the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 for different reasons.
Just for an opinion, what would be your choice if you had to pick one?
Love your reviews.
I have the super meteor 650 at the moment for 2 weeks from RE ...the engine is so much smoother and nicer ... 💯 I'd go for the Enfield ...you won't notice the less power as it has more torque
Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 thanks Mate. Appreciate the reply. Enjoy! Looking forward to seeing the next footage.
Brilliant. This might be my next bike. How would you or any of your knowledgeable fans compare this with a Rebel 500?
Hi Geoff the rebel 500 is smaller ,cheaper and less power however for me I really enjoyed the rebel as it really suits just cruising around about 55/60 and it's more economical....so I'd say if you want more speed and power get the Kawasaki if you are happy just pottering about get the rebel
Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 Thanks a bundle, Mark! It's a tough choice.
Never considered getting a motorbike. Seen this video and instantly want one of these.
My god, driving on the wrong side of the road, I was on the edge of my seat. Great review, I’ll wait till they come out with a left hand drive model.
Yeah man he was on the wrong side Lol
Definitely on the right side of the road in UK
Great review! Just got one, gonna bobber it out, looking forward to some fun in the NZ summer
Looking at getting mine for summer, any recommendations for good rides in the south?
Thank you, for the video, Can I ask you something? Do you recommend this bike for beginners (I never was on a motorbike, I want to make my driving license for A this year, I have B more than 10 years).
Yes should be fine as long as you take it steady and build up slowly...it's got a nice low seat height but it's still a weighty bike
Good luck mark
Awesome review - thanks mate 👍 I’m chatting with the guys at Bournemouth Kawasaki about upgrading my ride, and I think you’ve just given me my winner .... need me some Vulcan 🖖
thanks alan ....dont forget to mention you watched my video to pete and crew...it earns me brownie points !! all the best mark
mark pulling Already mentioned you in dispatches mate 👍👍
I dont think that the bike is build for crusing under 4000 rpm, i usually cruise between 5,500-7,500 and you can go even more.
To forget it's a ninza 650 engine
The dealership I work at has one available that a customer traded in! For the right price it's going to be mine! I'm a beginner so I'm hoping it'll be good to learn on.
Hi great ...yes it'll be perfect for you to learn on ....let me know how it goes :) regards mark
I'd love to hear your opinion on an HD iron 1200 as compared to this Vulcan and the Rebel you also reviewed
Ok Dave I'll look into my closest hd dealership cheers mark
I am not new to biking.
Driving for 20 years now.
Basically daily even.
....Last ine was the GSX-R 1000 with 200HP (Power Commander)
But people always use the phrasing "its an beginners bike."
..I´d just say its a great bike overall!
are there better options for a cruiser i can two-up on? or is the Vulcan S one of the better options?
I'm looking to start biking so thinking this would be a great bike (restricted for A2 as I'm not 24). The looks really excite me and it looks a great starter
Yes Gareth this would be great
Also have a look at the rebel 500 as it's more economical cheers mark
@@markpulling12 that was my other option yes, the reason I'm more drawn to the vulcan is because after 2 years when it comes to being able to do unrestricted, I can just remove the restriction when you don't get that from a 500 because it offers the max power on A2 without need of restrictions.
Excellent review as always, Mark. It seems the major Japanese manufacturers have all but given up on Cruiser style bikes these days - there is pretty much nothing between the Vulcan S and a Goldwing these days.

The Honda Rebel?
Hmm.. In India, Service interval is 6000 KM ☹️
Here’re a few negatives after My 10000 Km of riding in India..
In spite of the above drawbacks, I’m quite happy that I bought this one and I’m excited to take her on every ride even after 1.5 years!!
which city do you drive in? Has the low ground clearance resulted in any damage to the bike from below?
Can it run on normal petrol?
Or does it need premium high octane only?
simran gill : I use regular petrol mostly..
@@sathishrao7926 So after 10k Kms would you prefer any other motorcycle over this? like harley? or even RE interceptor?

I sat on a 2023 Vulcan S 650 today and I wanted to buy it.

Thank you for the review definitely helped me make my decision
No problem ash

Nice vid. Ciao
Best driving review I’ve seen for the VS, and I’ve seen a few! 😂
Great thanks for the feedback cheers mark
Great review. Definitely answered the questions I had. Will be getting one.
Thanks Steve great choice 😊
So for long distance riding would you prefer this over Suzuki 650XT if you take into account ride quality, comfort, vibration etc?
Hi no I'd take the Suzuki as I like adventure bikes more with their fairing and the v twin engine is nicer

@@markpulling12 Thanks mate
Nice review Mark. I'm coming home this summer to ride those roads again. Love Sandford through to Swanage via Corfe Castle. Take care.
corfe to sandbanks ferry is a lovely road :)
@@markpulling12 yeah I usually run through Swanage and Ulwell and run across the top to the T junction at Corfu. Definitely need to slow down as you approach the last bends, have found stationary traffic there in the summer. 👍
I am noticing your handlebars. Curious on their height. If you pull to one side does the handlebar knick your gas tank?
Hi Mike no the handle bars are fine ...there are stops in the steering head to stop the bars coming anywhere near the tank

Just bought 1 2017 with less than 500 miles on it and I love it so still running it in also a UA-camr
Nice one j .....they are really good :)

Hi Mark, I’m curious about the vibration because my Ninja 650 has the same engine as the Vulcan and I’d like to know if you felt vibration from the twin and at what speeds. Seems to get annoying on the 650 around 75 mph +. Thanks!
Hi Tom from memory it was about the same as your ninja about 75 mph some vibes come in but I didn't find it too bad cheers mark

Hi mark, a great review informative as always and really entertaining.
Great stuff and good to see you again cheers from Gary.
Glad you enjoyed it all the best mark :)
Great review. Is it belt or chain drive?
its chain drive jeffrey :)
Just an all around great bike, just like the older EN500.
9:14 "forget about high revs"?
I disagree. The fun is at 6k+ rpms, and the bike loves it.
I agree with this. Have had mine for two years now. It's around 6000 rpm it starts pulling the hardest.
Powerfull, easy to ride and real sport cruiser ..
I'd really like someone to put the torque and bhp into 'visual', physical sense
British tags are quite homely.
All the cops have bad eyesight ?
I have a 2006 Harley 883 custom with 4040 miles bought in 2011. just do not ride it much. want too get rid of it and buy something like this but in a 750 cc. it is a nice bike.
I have a bad back, I get the impression that all bumps would go right up your spine, as opposed to normal sitting positions in which they go through your knees
I really should have made this a question, does the sitting position aggravate a bad back?

If you had to pick one would you buy the Kawasaki vulcan s 650 or the Classic 900 ?
Hi Robert it would be the Vulcan s ,I was very impressed with it ,nice power ,light , easy to handle and very well priced new all the best mark
They are both great, get both!
If only the budget for one: Vulcan S
Its bloody gorgeous.
It has the Versys dash, better with a Z900rs dash, or tft.
The Vulcan S was on the top of the list of bikes I want to own. It was JUST knocked off the #1 spot by the launch of the Super Meteor 650, but it is a close race 🤗
the meteor is slower with worse colour options
@@ZXspectrum.. it is slower but SO much better looking and with better color options.
And I am in love with the dark green paintscheme 😍
But like I said it was a close race, so lots of congratulations on your Vulcan it IS a wicked bike!
Great review, thank you. My only suggestion would be, I think you missed this bikes party trick. Really give her some and she turns into an absolute rocket.
Thanks Anthony .....rest assured off camera I nailed it .... great fun all the best mark

Thanks for the metric measures! The imperial system makes me confused.....
Thanks for the vid, I was considering one of these as a second bike, but stopped watching as soon as you started it up. The parallel twin sound, got to be one of the worst sounding engines.
