  • Our 2021 garden is coming along, we revitalize our neglected strawberry patch, plant this season's brassicas and greens, and get the peppers in the ground in our high tunnel. We fertilize our successfully overwintered garlic, sow radish seeds and cook a unique meal at the cabin. As more and more seedlings are planted, our vegetable plot becomes that much closer to being completed.
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀

I like the format you've chosen; No clickbait. Come for the gardening, have a side cooking class as a bonus, leave feeling like family. It's not easy to endear yourselves to so many, in an honest way.

Agreed! Thank you truly for NO clickbait! I have stopped watching an off grid couple’s channel because every video is clickbait of her butt (and sometimes her boobs). It’s SOOO annoying. Your channel is refreshing and lovely. You make what you do look so doable! Thank you for sharing your life with us.

Anyone watching this, make sure to mix a bit of black pepper into your food any time you use turmeric or turmeric powder, because the biochemistry of the black pepper activates the anti-inflammatory properties of the turmeric. It doesn't take much black pepper, so you don't have to make your food spicy-hot if you don't want that, but it will help keep you healthier overall! (I assisted a neurologist doing research on the effects of turmeric in fighting Alzheimer's disease a few years back.)

Holy crap, 96 pepper plants! I've been gardening in the mountains of SW Oregon for the last thirty years and have had good success gardening outside with both hot and cold-tolerant plants. Every year presents new challenges. I am truly amazed by how much you two have accomplished in such a short period of time. For me, I have determined that less is more when it comes to planting peppers. It seems my pepper plants do best when plant spacing is such that at full maturity each plant has a few leaves "holding hands" with its neighbor. The number and quality of peppers are best at this spacing. Continued good luck in your Alaska adventure!

plant them out and grow them up as usual, then use them for trade with others in your area for other types of food you didn't get a chance to grow, or even for meat/fish/etc
others in your area would also have extra left over pots/plants etc etc etc. worth a shot, you are a little famous in your local area after all :)

I've grown strawberries for years. While they will keep producing fruit on older plants I usually dig them up and throw them out after the second year of harvesting them. The older plants tend not to produce as much fruit and the second harvest usually gives the best crop. I take the runners each year and plant them into pots so that I can plant them to a fresh bed the following year - a fresh bed can reduce some of the disease problems of using the same bed year on year.

Hi Arielle and Eric; wow, you are able to plant outdoors, well this is awesome, I hope all the very best, in my zone we are supposed to get a mix of rain and frozen rain, right now I can see that the clouds are coming together more, this is supposed to happen sometime after midnight, I have some beautiful cabbage plants to get into the ground, also some cucumbers etc. Oh Well my planting will happen, I know it will. Thank you for sharing the videos! Heather from Deer Valley Saskatchewan Canada

😂😂 the way you’re shaping the dumplings is very similar to a Tortellini 🥰🥰
Oh and pepper’s actually really like to be tucked in close to each other, so you might actually see them do better because of it. 🥰👩🏻‍🌾🥰👩🏻‍🌾

You two are doing something I wished I had known about 40 years ago! I love all the info you give! Since you talked about Anthony’s heavy cream powder, I bought some and it works great. I also bought some buttermilk powder, also! Thank you, for such an amazing insight into your life !

Wow! Love how you just keep getting more and more ambitious with the garden! And more wise! Your obviously flowing more and more with your intuition, and pulling knowledge from past years. It’s cool. Your both so natural and work so well together. We are so in awe of you both and so inspired! Keep up the gorgeous relationship. Your films grow as you do. Love love love. E + B
