I commented on a recent video you posted about how I appreciate that you are just the two of you homesteading, because it's more relatable to me that most UA-cam homesteaders who have like 3 kids. Another thing I find wonderful and relatable about you is the lack of gender rolls in your relationship, it looks far more like my real life than most UA-cam homesteaders, where the woman is inside, cooking and homeschooling, and the man is outside working the farm and do the animal chores, and the wife and kids jsut come out to work the garden or sometimes milk a cow or goat. Its wonderful that Eric makes cinnamon rolls and Ariel goes hunting! This s how the majority of people actually are in this day and age, I feel!

I agree. I think part of the gender inflexible roles on some channels are because of religion. I'm not judging it, just saying that I think that it is how some people choose to live.

Next time- with the gnocchi- put the gnocchi’s directly IN the sauce, with a bit of the pasta water! It will make a world of difference and the sauce will be even creamier, and coat the gnocchi! Let them cook about 2-4 mins, in the sauce, after the water- with a touch of the pasta water..... I promise- it’s life-changing! Lol! Well, at least, tastebud changing! Love y’all’s content! I can just see all the men out there thinking how much they'd love to drag their wives to Alaska and live like these two wonderfully motivated young people do. The truth is these amazing kids show us about one tenth of the struggle and toil it takes to carve out a lifestyle like you see here in these videos. Now that struggle can be and is very rewarding. But it's still struggle. It's HARD. I've lived in Alaska. I live in Montana. I know what it takes to accomplish what these people have. I like many of you love this channel and would die to live like this. However, I am 51!!!! This is a young man's (woman's) game no doubt!! I have zero business pestering my wife to move to Alaska!!! As much as I'd love to!!

With the potato ricer you can also make spätzle: Just add flour and eggs with a bit of salt to make a dough (we do 1,5-2 eggs per 100g (a heaping cup) with 2 beeing on the thinner side). Then press the dough through the press into boiling salted water, let the water boil up again et voilà. Great with any kind of gravy or mushroom sauce, baked with cheese or pan-roasted with vegetables. Safes on the whole rolling/cutting the dough for pasta and since the dough is about as thick as a thick muffin dough you don't need to knead to combine. Also they're delicious and soak up sauce like nobodys business :)

Hi guys. One trick you might want to try with bell peppers is to freeze them hard in a unsealed baggie for one day. Then seal them quickly from air, don't let them thaw any. This seem s to keep them crisper when you put them out to use them. It might be because the unsealed freezing dries the cells out a little so they don't break so much during the regular freezing process, so not turning to mush when thawed. I do this for mine because I usually just cook for my self.

We also make lasagne almost the same way. However, instead of moose, we use kangaroo. We don't have moose in Australia but there's more kangaroos than people. Thank you for your videos.

@Deplorable MN, kangaroo meat is very low in fat so it shouldn't be cooked on a high and fast flame. (Otherwise, it's like eating an old boot). Usually slow cooking brings out the best with roo meat. However, when minced you can overcome this challenge. (So the lasagne can be cooked as normal). When stewed slowly the meat does become quite tender. Whatever veggies go well with a beef stew can also be used with kangaroo meat. Carrots, potatoes and peas are personal favourites. I prefer a rustic and crusty home made sour dough loaf of bread with either types of stew.

I found y'all last night while our country was going through a bad storm. I've been watching y'all almost whole day today. I love the authenticity of y'all! Your kitchen is so beautiful oml. It's homey as compared to all the other industrial looking houses homestead youtubers have. Reminds me of home.
