Hence why gamefreak used rock for the first 3 of 4 gyms, and fire/fighting for 3 - rock is the perfect "first gym" type if you give the fire starter metal claw or a fighting move. Everyone early game poké has jack shit to deal with it, but the starters will sweep through it. Makes rock pokémon look way more intimidating. Like, Onix is legendarily garbage and only impressive exactly as Brock's ace because it's high-level for that point in the game and then its defence which makes up nearly half its BST means something. Now imagine GF learned their lesson and stopped making the ice gym 7th or higher every gen since it also would be a wonderful early gym with its glass cannon nature when not everyone and their mom has an answer to them.

SwSh were not balanced around infinite grinding in the wild area. You can easily break the game if you do that, not just by getting good moves but also by being very overleveled quickly. Unfortunately arcanine has a pretty mediocre move pool. Takedown and ember are its starting moves, and while it does get access to dig and body slam, that’s about all it can do. Gyarados is sure to be a pain to get past in the endgame. It would do OK, but certainly worse than Dragonite. @@swampy725 Except the name Lorelei is Germanic in origin, so the "ei" is therefore pronounced the same as in Einstein. The correct pronunciation sounds like "law-rel-eye".
Same. Given Dragonite's opening moveset and the fact the first member of the Elite 4 is an Ice trainer, I have no idea why people thought this would be as easy as Mewtwo. 🤷♂️
It's honestly hard to believe that ANYONE thought Dragonite would be anywhere near as good as Mewtwo. 100 Special against Mewtwo's 154, no STAB moves, its only physical moves are Normal type, 4x weak to Ice and terrible starting moveset. Dragonite is mediocre at best, for a casual playthrough it needs way too many TMs and too much experience to accomplish anything, and in competitive play it only has the cheap Agility + Wrap gimmick going for it. While RBY Mewtwo is the most broken, powerful Pokémon of all time no matter what you're playing or how.
"Putting such a powerful move so early in the game is something they wouldn't do in modern Pokémon games." TR rewards from raid dens in Sword and Shield would like to know your location.

I'm subscribed since the only magikarp video last year and I absolutely enjoyed every single video since then. especially this series. It's so good. Even my gf (and she doesn't know or care about pokemon) enjoys it. It's so good. The commentary, the structure, the editing and the colorpatterns * - *. I love the adapted color patterns so much. Great fun. Great and very much needed entertainment in 2020.
I have a very tiny optimization if you care. After you beat Sabrina, you can step on the teleporter and then dig away, instead of just digging. If you do this you will do the teleport animation to the center instead of doing the spin animation. Its probably only a free second at most (not sped up), but it's a neat trick.
A cool trick, like being able to fish into the statues at gyms. But I don't think it'd save time because you have to walk back to the teleport thing first and at speed up you probably end up teleporting inside the gym rather then to the centre.
Look. I understand completely why you choose to not save between fights in the Elite Four, it makes sense, you've made your case. But dude, NOBODY would blame you if you decided to save after winning the Agatha Lottery.
Okay, what you did for Adam massive respect. I know it seems small but honestly most people wouldn't do such. Loved your series already but now you get a sub
I actually like how you pronounce Lorelei's name. "Lei" is the old German term for a stoney area in an otherwise foresty terrain. You should do an Arcanine run next, given he's typically a formidable foe
He?
@@Croationman besides the Nido lines there was no gender in gen 1
Unfortunately arcanine has a pretty mediocre move pool. Takedown and ember are its starting moves, and while it does get access to dig and body slam, that’s about all it can do. Gyarados is sure to be a pain to get past in the endgame.
It would do OK, but certainly worse than Dragonite.
EDIT: coming back to this thread and seeing 50 replies, where only mine actually addresses Arcanine’s viability, is surreal and hilarious.
@@redxraider0613 And yet, Aaron used the word "he's"
@@Croationman typically, when referring to an entity with unknown gender, "he" is the default
The fact that you picked the gameboy colors to try and make it look like the modern Dragonite colors. We see the little details you put into these vidoes, Mr. Jrose11, and that's what makes this channel top-quality. Keep up the great work man, seriously.

These always come out at the best times for the degenerate sleep schedule I'm currently on.

Its 7 am where I am. I don't go to school but I wake up at 6:30 every day anyway. This is pretty perfect timing for me, not sure about your "degenerate sleep schedule"
It's good to wake up early it's weird I was just thinking to myself is anyone else getting up early for no real reason
@@jkbradley885 I think its called being a morning person :D
Cheers for being one of the most fun channels to watch in 2020. Looking forward to seeing you reach 200k!
EDIT: He just hit 200k! Congrats!
It is so sweet that you names the character after a fan, it's just so heartwarming
Edit:shout-out to adams wife for suggesting it, overall wholesome stuff I love to see

You're the only person I've ever heard of who says "Laura Lee" for Lorelei.

@@swampy725 Except the name Lorelei is Germanic in origin, so the "ei" is therefore pronounced the same as in Einstein. The correct pronunciation sounds like "law-rel-eye".
Bro really? Uploading at 8am est on a Monday? I gotta get shit done at work but now I have to pause everything to watch this
Sorry I had many issues uploading this, and it should have been ready for 4:30am haha

Merry Christmas, Adam!
Merry Christmas Copycat
That’s so cute!! Thanks for being such a wholesome and awesome channel Jrose
that’s so awesome of you jrose to name your character adam. Always excited to come watch a new installment of this series
i love how Dragonite is just friendly but then he just destroys everything
Hey Adam, all the best to you buddy!
Can't wait for my boy Tauros! :D
That is one beast of a pokemon in gen 1 with such an intimidating sprite.
This channel is a mixture of nostalgia, never ending fun from these amazing video games, and the coolness of Jrose that makes it all.
my thoughts before this video came out were all like: there is literally NO way dragonite could possibly beat mewtwo
"Putting such a powerful move so early in the game is something they wouldn't do in modern Pokémon games."
TR rewards from raid dens in Sword and Shield would like to know your location.
The thing is as great as Body Slam is its not that much better than cut so I feel you have to reward someone a little bit for finding it. If I'm not mistaken you actually get mega punch much quicker.
@@zeaferjones1404 Fairly decent point. But I was still making a funny. TRs in Sword and Shield was just rediculous.
There is no feeling better than coming home after a hard day's working and seeing a new Jrose11 challenge.
I would love to see a Mr Mime run for no other reason then he's my favorite Pokémon outside of Mew which you already did
Dragonite not getting any viable physical moves, even Earthquake, is a crime in itself
200k! Congratulations! And it's the first time ever I comment in a UA-cam video! Great content sir! Thank you for this light in an year of darkness!
And merry Christmas!
And a happy new year
I found this channel when I caught corona and never looked back. Thank you!!
Making your characters name Adam for a fan was such a small act of kindness, but very wholesome. Shows you really care about your fanbase. You earned a like and a sub for that
"Not something they would do in modern Pokemon"
Raids in gen 8 give powerful TRs regardless of how difficult the raids are.
"Raids"? what's going on in Gen 8 that we have raids. I have never played a game outside of gen 1, 2, 3, and 6
@@RosyKitteh there's a new mechanic called dynamax, basically a pokemon becomes huge and his moves get a power boost, there's raids where you can fight those pokemon to gain exp and instruments
@@RosyKitteh play 4/5 they are by far the best the series has to offer.
But to answer your question there are giant building sized Pokémon that you fight 4 on 1. Not as interesting as it sounds just YT Pokémon raid battles.
@@Xapheion101 Actually, I have White just haven't beaten but one gym in the last eight years, but I have it
@@RosyKitteh oof, gen 4 is definitely the best imo overall, but gen 5 is a close second. You need to beat white!
Congratulations on 200k been a fan for 2 years now and this makes me happy. Keep going strong man
I want to see Slowpoke/Slowbro run. It would be fun to watch "slow" pokemon do it fast. Great moves, good stats, amnesia, what more do you want from pokemon? maybe more speed then 30 X - X
I just noticed you changed all the bonus episodes to actual numbered episodes
I kinda liked the base form pokemon being the only numbered ones, but I'm also weird.
@@bongosmcdongos4190 I kinda liked it too, but I'm fine either way
I had to go back and check the others.
He's changed them, thank god.
It's been a while since he did an actually hard Red and Blue run... you think maybe he's saving up his time for Weedle 🤔

when he reaches the champion with 15 minutes left and thinks he's about to win: I sense danger
Finally! Congrats for the 200K! You deserve this and much more!
I can't believe that you've weaponized Marnie's Theme to attack my emotions.
What's even real anymore
I gotta say, these videos are great to listen to while drawing.
just wanted to say I love all your videos. I had no idea that I'd ever find videos dissecting pokemon so fascinating!
As a French person, the fact that there could be a debate between Aaaaarcanine and Arcaaaanine is hilarious, as we don’t know about emphasis on vowels
Look. I understand completely why you choose to not save between fights in the Elite Four, it makes sense, you've made your case. But dude, NOBODY would blame you if you decided to save after winning the Agatha Lottery.
That rock tunnel to celadon city cut was smooth af.
Jrose11 breaks the internet.
Okay, what you did for Adam massive respect. I know it seems small but honestly most people wouldn't do such. Loved your series already but now you get a sub
Loving these challenges! Do Kangaskhan - I reckon once you get past Brock the rest should be pretty damn fast
I’m just waiting for Starmie to dethrone Mewtwo.
"powerful move in tm early on, definitely not something Pokemon would do in modern Pokemon"
I think Scald is pretty early in a few recent games.
Actually seems like the later in gens you go the faster you can get surf and scald, despite being by far the best water moves.
I actually like how you pronounce Lorelei's name. "Lei" is the old German term for a stoney area in an otherwise foresty terrain. AS far as I remember this exact type of terrain is called "leigh" in English. So your pronaunciation is right in it's own way (even so Stadium and all the comments on that are right, as the name itself should be pronounced German ^^). But I caught myself calling her Loreleigh lately. Merry Christmas ^^
2k more subs. You'll make it dude. I love watching your videos. :D
I like how it's not a "can you" question but a "how fast" question because it's freakin Dragonite lol
I feel like Adam would have been most entertained if the rival was named Tanya ;)
I was so hyped, then the Count was denied
oh i called it Dragonite had such a weak start and then picked up the pace when the TMs started coming in
I like tour videos before I even watch them. You’re honestly one of my favorite channels on UA-cam
It's crazy how even Vaporeon is half an hour faster, damn i really didn't expect Dragonite to nearly hit the 4 Hour mark, crazy run though nonetheless
Love these Vids man, always hyped to see more, i joined like 3 weeks ago or something and watched almost al of your Solo Runs, and even the No Damage Run in Gold/Silver keep up the good stuff bro
