I’ve watched so many of these hot shot videos and what I see is every driver is one good breakdown from going broke. Unless you own multiple rigs that can help support the one in the shop it’s just not easy without staying out on the road 300 days a year. There are more hot shot drivers barley making it because of the high cost of doing business.
I will agree that none of these vehicles are designed for hot shot hauling 10,000 miles a month. You will wear out that truck before it’s ever paid for or you will find yourself sinking thousands into it just to keep it rolling.
The conclusion I came to as an outsider watching a lot of UA-cam videos was that I was better off getting my cdl and saving up for a pre sensor, pre def, pre eld semi. I got my cdl last summer ($4k) and my 1994 semi a few months ago ($40k). I'm now looking for a flatbed. I can't imagine jumping into this game with debt hanging over my head knowing if anything goes wrong I won't be able to make my payment while any profit gets sucked up by interest. Am I right? Ask me in 5 years lol.
@sherwinwright9698 yes, the first truck that caught my attention was a single axle freightliner cabover with an M11 cummins in it. They were asking 15k. It sold immediately, of course. After I saw that truck I basically dropped the idea of a pick up. There is also a UA-cam channel called truckinUp running a single axle with an M11. He was making nice money with that setup. I based my whole game plan on what that guy was doing even though I ended up with a double axle.
@@yankeeapple5615 yes that’s my plan to get out of my pick up. Single axle Fld 120 with an m11 or 12.7 Detroit. More comfortable sleeper, can haul a gooseneck or semi trailer. Just all around more options.
Hey brother I enjoy watching your stuff but you either don’t know cost of things or you were talking everything used for $95,000.00. The truck alone set up properly is at least $85,000.00 unless your brother-in-law owns the dealership.

Bingo
Or if you want to stick to ‘hotshot’ get a pre emissions’ single axle semi
