  • In desperate need of some nature therapy, Jenny and I head out in her tandem canoe to one of my favourite campsites in the Haliburton Highlands Water Trails. We out smart the rain and enjoy the day, but discover some important pieces of gear missing along the way. Find out how we adapt to our situation and find solutions to the challenges we face, and end up having an amazing time!

I’m glad that you were able to sleep without a bag. With very short hair, I find a hat is very helpful in keeping me warm. Thanks for sharing your adventure, be well my friend.

Loved your video. I camped for over 60 years and really miss it but can't on my own anymore. I live near Tweed and love it. Thanks for sharing.

... Short trips can be the best Natures medicine .... Although a two day one night leaves me lacking something .... I find a three day two night getaway to be the ticket .... R&R and not feel rushed ...
... Always helps to pack with a list ,, too easy to put something aside and not realize it until it's too late .... But as you did ,, most things can be improvised ... Stay Safe ...

I get out whenever I can and as often as I can and sometimes that’s a trip like this. I didn’t feel rushed in any way, but every one is different.
Thanks so much for commenting and for checking out the video. Happy camping!

Thanks for this video. As a retired person I've had the advantage of doing longer trips but this year I may not get out at all. For me five nights seems to have been the perfect length of stay. I like to spend my time reading and writing and I've noticed after checking my past journals that my writing doesn't really get good until the fourth day. And that pattern has been consistent over the years. I am thinking that I don't fully adjust to the bush life (so that it feels like home) until the fourth day.

Makes sense to me. I get bored at the same campsite for more than 2 nights but that’s why I trip. 😊 Thanks for watching and commenting.

Awesome video Christina and so good to see that you ladies made the most of the camping experience despite forgetting some things 🥰.
I have so far tentatively planned my Algonquin trip for the end of September at Canisbay Lake for car camping and I cannot wait ❤️🏕️🌳. Looking to rent a canoe from The Portage Outpost to paddle around the lake and check out some of the paddle-in sites too 😊. Between your course (thank you again 🥰) and talking with another friend, who just does backcountry, I really do want to get out there so much because I think I am going to fall in love with it 🥰.

Well it may be cool and overcast a bit rainy and a few gear items missing , But hey you're out in the peace and quiet of nature with a great friend can't beat that. My friends unfortunately are not into it they want the comforts of home , Nice wee camping adventure thanks for letting us join. always looking forward to the next one . Cool ending of you girls driving out.

Thank you so much, Sue. Jenny actually filmed that. I have never blurred something out on a video so I thought it would be a good learning opportunity to blur out my license plate. It turns out that is a ridiculous amount of work and you literally have to Picture in picture paste this blurry license plate and move it every frame so that it matches with where the vehicle is going. I searched elsewhere and then I found the cartoon mode, which I didn’t even know existed. It’s so fun! I can have myself talking to Jenny in cartoon! It’s hilarious.
Thanks for commenting on that. I was wondering what people would think. Always love reading your comments Sue. Cheers
