    As a 20 year professional with jobs displayed in manufacturers catalogs and many awards, this was done every way but the correct way. Base was insufficient, pavers were never tamped after installing. No string lines were set beyond to border to assure things are on course. The finished product looks wavy and has curves in the border. Worst of all, major settling will occur in just a few years. This is my professional opinion.

      You forgot backfilling up against the siding at the patio door.

    • @gary24752
      @gary24752 2 роки тому +2

      @Paige Loren It won't be so amazing when you find out your sheathing, rim joists and the ends of your joists have rotted.

      @Paige Loren If you did you would know what a bad idea it is to put soil up against siding like that.

    • @gary24752
      @gary24752 2 роки тому

      @Paige Loren Dutch lapped siding with a 4 inch exposure with a floor system depth of about 14 inches (assuming 2x12 joists judging from the end elevation width) so that puts the bottom of the siding at the top of concrete. Bottom of sill plate is top of basement window so NO the stone is up against the sheathing, rim joist and sill plate. If you knew anything about house construction, you should have known that.

      @Dee Dee go for it very simple just very long slow hard work if it’s just and your partner/ kids and please time weather right not run into 90 plus days or to cold. Just finished our second project a 800+ sq ft driveway first was a 12x17 raised patio and both started late spring then quickly stop work because of heat and finished in early fall as soon as temperature drop to 60-75

    • @rizzotto139
      @rizzotto139 3 роки тому

      @Dee Dee Good luck !! Make sure you plan everything step, this way you’ll have time frame/cost of each step. If you need to rent excavator’s or something look into possibly hiring out that part and just direct the person/worker as it might be cheaper if not the same cost as renting

    Why do you put rebar in the gravel layers of the base? I Understand the rebar can be helpful in the leveling sand layer to screat the sand but even here, does it really add structural strength worthy of leaving it in there? Thanks.

    • @danlovepeaceunity
      @danlovepeaceunity 4 роки тому +1

      They didnt leave it the base. And its not rebar, rebar is rigid and flexible and would not be a good screeding tool. They just used grading bars, hollow metal pipe. And after they screed over top of them they pluck it out and fill in the void it left and move onto the next section.
