    looks great, thanks for sharing. question: what was the drain pipe for that you didnt talk about ? i assume its just the pipe coming from roof? do these raised patios not require any type of drainage underneath? does water just flow through since no mason mix inbetween or waterproofed? hope these questions are not too obvious?

    Hey Techo Bloc, nice job.... you make it look easy, and it came out great.... I think the homeowner messed up and didn't have the first step out of the house right under the trim.... when we get older, that first step is a dosey... now that you are done, if they wanted to make that kind of change, you would be able to, right.... it would take some tearing apart and reinstalling but doable right.

      The underlayment is supposed to be semi permeable. Also the pavers are pitched enough to prevent too much water seeping through. His subbase(remaining dirt after excavation) is also pitched away and that helps.

Enough for the area around the shed and a walkway to the pool. Gotta love free product.

  • @andytaylor2321
    @andytaylor2321 Рік тому +1

    Wow, you could simplify things so much if you had a hydraulic wheelbarrow instead of running back-and-forth with an excavator. Or even a small mini skid steer, no? I see you don’t have any clear stone behind your wall or a drain pipe. Why is that?

    • @srmcontracting
      @srmcontracting  Рік тому +1

      Those wheelbarrows are great but you need to shovel the material in and out of them. The excavator actually moves it pretty quickly and I can dump it exactly where I need it. A raised patio is a little different then an actual retaining wall. I filled behind the wall and under the patio with all 3/4 modified. When you compact modified it doesn't allow much water at all to pass through. Plus with the pitch of the patio most water will run off anyway.

    • @andytaylor2321
      @andytaylor2321 Рік тому +2

      @@srmcontracting we all do things differently.
      The idea is you fill the wheelbarrows with the excavator or mini skid.
      No shovelling required. Then run the wheelbarrow to trench .
      Your method of raised patio won’t work in a freeze thaw region, the fines hold water and expands with the frost thereby pushing against the wall.
