Twitter and other social media created the "it's important to be first" shtick across journalism. Having had experience in that world myself, it's far more important to be right than being first.
Not exactly. "breaking" news has been important since the advent of daily newspapers at the very least with plenty of examples of journalists rushing stories even 100+ years ago to be first to print. Twitter has just decreased the time allowed for fact checking and verification exponentially and led to more false stories as a result. Accurate is definitely more important than timely but News orgs get more clicks from breaking news than in depth accurate reporting so the incentives are off.
Heyman might have jumped the gun on the Aaron “Arson” judge tweet, but he’s still WAY more reliable and credible than a Mr Bob Nightingale.

I’m a Yankees fan and I remember being at one of my chorus concerts and I checked my phone right before I went on stage to rehearse and my heart sank. I couldn’t look at my phone for the next like hour and I was stressing. After I finished rehearsing I looked and was so happy that it wasn’t true. Then he signed with the Yankees and that was the happiest day of my life.
I can’t wait til Shogun Ohtani appears to be headed to the Giants……that’ll be cool.
You just don’t understand how terrible this offseason was for Giants fans. First being teased with Aaron Judge and then and the team backing out of the Correa deal.

As a Yankee fan that was close to being one of the worst days of my life. Imagine seeing your star player leaving. Judge isn’t just an ordinary player. He shows class. Never bickers with umps or other players.

Heyman was a joke before Arson Judge. His "scoops" would often be debunked almost immediately and he held onto Bitmoji way too long.

I personally think that this was done on purpose. I think Judge was always set on coming to the Yankees but he obviously wanted a ton of money after they lowballed him earlier in the year, so he played the media like a fiddle all November(remember the video of him arriving in SF for thanksgiving that was obviously not recorded around that time). Him and his camp got fed up with how long it was taking and so they paid off Heyman to tweet this and stir a ton of controversy, and it obviously worked because that night Judge called Hal on his yacht and got his mega deal.
