Use your power rake going forward. Boom down touch rake wheels, place boom in float and use the tilt to control/set your height. back dragging is not needed as long as you give the rake time to process the material as you go forward. Speed and depth is the key.

Maybe I havnt used a power rake enough to get why people love them so much but I prefer a rock rake (landscape rake) way more can flick all the junk into the bucket dump it into the low spots and keep raking it stretching the black dirt out can turn a yard that big into 3 buckets max of junk to haul away and only have to hand rack a couple track marks.

Stan very hard to get used to power rake on very sloped areas flat ground easier to get used to. Good operators that use rakes all the time will wind row rocks. Also helps rake first before adding topsoil it only takes seat time. When I was young it was all hand raking shovels and wheelbarrows. That what my job was picking up rocks all day when I was 10 years old helping my father. It’s so nice all the equipment now I learned to use a skidloader real fast when we bought our first one in the 80s. Rockhound was one of the best attachments we bought. Stan when you get good at running they will rip up hard packed ice and snow just be really careful of the parking lot.👮‍♂️LM

I know it's always different where you live, but i remember doing a demo job and we could only start the machines at a certain time, maybe it was 8-9am i don't remember, i know last month doing a apartment job we started at like 8:45 am, you are only allowed to start at 9am so someone called and complained that we had to stop and wait for another 10 minutes lol. Maybe it's just me but 8:45 for a load of dirt and to start making noise is not really something i would be mad about, if around neighbors and starting up chainsaws etc i usually prefer about 9am. Once doing a shed near a lake the neighbor came over when we were just about getting close to done, said he was upset and wanted it moved because it blocked his view from his kitchen sink window doing the dishes, even called people on us lol. What is crazy too is that the home owner let him use part of his property for his driveway, because the other neighbor, his own brother wouldn't even let him do it etc something along those lines. Sounds like no one liked him. I suggested we should of painted a big happy face on the back side of the shed. I guess the moral of the story is jobs often don't go smoothly and there is always hangups etc, try not to stress over it or else you end up with grey thinning hair like me and im only in my 30's.

I just wanted to say that... That thing is NOT for mixing your soils. How much mixing r u getting with 2" teeth? U want your grass roots to grow deep! Like at least 6", n that's not putting the " black gold" down deep enough.
That equipment is made to remove rocks from the too surface of your area so u don't have to hand rake. And it puts all the rocks in one area to b picked up. N then just seed.
At least that's what we have used it for for past ten years.
I think ( and well, kno) that if u want to mix soil , it should be done on the side in piles, then put in.
But for mixing......I don't think so
But for removing rocks and grading a seed able surface, YES!
    Good luck

  • @kathleenegan8660
    @kathleenegan8660 Рік тому

All right you figured it out you needed to go over that bring all the other junk to the surface before you put down the black dirt right? But hind sight is 20/20. And you haven't got your rake yet. So next time you're grading and you have groups and stuff you bring that along and you'll clean up the dirt before you do anything else. I love that rake you know if you go forward with the race you'll be shoving those rocks in front of you. But you can't do that with the black dirt down. My good reminds me of the gravel ridge that people use like Spencer's Lawn Care for taking rebel driveway rock out of grass siding. Anyway God bless America and God bless you and your family I love your show bye

...I'm guessing somewhere in 470+ comments this has already been mentioned, but new viewers need to know that when you start using the power rake around the 22-minute mark, you can reverse the direction of the end plates for pulling dirt (and rotation of the rake versus pushing) and it will allow better control of distribution.

I'm thinking that before the "black dirt" goes down, he should've tilled the property and power raked then added the blk dirt? Idk, I'm not an expert at this. It just seemed like there was way too much debris like rocks and roots still present to start a non compacted seed surface; no,?

I am going to disagree, a dump truck is not the most dangerous peice of equipment. The most dangerous would be a Large Excavator because you have massive blind spots. A dump truck is only dangerous when you have a dangerous operator

Being a truck driver is the worst. You get yelled at to hurry up and then yelled at for going too fast. If you're a driver, don't worry about other people's mouths. Do your thing.

    Mmm
Using a power rake the flaps should be on opposite side of machine for bringing waste product with you and it should be a 3 pass process adjusting a door above teeth .ie door on no5 first then no3 then no1 ie. start by letting large stone through on first past then medium stone on second past then on last past no stone bigger then 1 inch stone passes through leaving a perfect seed bed no hand raking
I used John Deere 955 with blec power rake

How do you get away with dumping dirt in the road, in Virginia if you dump dirt in the road like that you will get a ticket in a hurry. If we dump any dirt or gravel in this state it has to be on site or you have to get a special permit to dump in the street and that's practically impossible to get unless you have some extenuating circumstances.

Lol I see black road not dirt. That is some nice black dirt i wich I cud find some like that my me it be nice in my razed beds. That blue power attempt if you got a job for redoing a lawn an put down new Sod it grind up the dirt so that sod will grow and take hold of the dirt an grow like crazy.

Lots of the landscapers I worked with on big commercial jobs used to Harley rake before putting down too soil to get rid of all the rocks and roots the rake it again after to get prepared seed bed like you said your new to it and I’ve never played with one but that’s what I see lots of people doing in my are worth trying out.
Should work great on your driveway I used a similar designed tool called a rock rake for agriculture applications on my drive way

Power Raking: Put the tires on the ground, arms in float and curl controls the depth. Drum should spin in the opposite direction of travel.
