Buyers beware: I am on my second MX Master 3S, and it suffers from a manufacturing defect. The silent clicks feel amazing...while they last. Once you've used your mouse for a bit, the left click button will start feeling different. While much more silent than your usual mouse, both the feel and noise will not be the same as when you bought it. There's reddit threads describing the issue, and since I had two with the same problem, I'm guessing it's inherent to the design.

I got a second mouse, the MX Master 3S because I wanted to keep my original MX Master 3 for my laptop. While the MX Master 3S is fine, there is something off about it to me. The scroll wheel has less tactile feedback so I find it continues to scroll without me realizing. The quiet clicks are fine for work but I like the tactile feedback of the clicks when I am gaming. The Logitech MX Master 3S has a design error. The left button plastic is too big and not well supported on bottom. Great for reading documents because of the awesome mouse wheel. Although, there are things that a normal mouse wheel does better too, like zooming in CAD-work for example. (Several controlled bursts being better than one "send" from which you don't know where you'll end up.) However, as a pointing device it is simply: Crap. I have degraded mine to "laptop mouse" in favour of my Steelseries Prime Wireless. I can send that thing to the other end of my ultrawide with an effortless swing, and I don't even have to think about lifting it up and placing it down elsewhere to adjust pointer position vs. hand position. Lifting up and adjusting, or even just flicking around the MX, is clunky, slow and not nice due to the weight. The sensor is unaccurate, and what's more, the shape isn't actually ergonomic compared to a classic EC2 ergo shape. That's a completely different (and much better) experience than it was using the MX Master. I just didn't realize the grass was greener on the gaming mouse side, because the MX Master was such a "premium" hyped up product
OK review but no mention of supporting Logitech Flow, which allows multiple computers (Windows, MacOS, even Linux) to be connected and configured so that when the mouse is dragged to the edge of one screen, your control "flows" to the next computer. Also the thumb wheel on the 3 is free-spinning while the 3S's wheel has a noticeable resistance to it.

Currently writing this comment with a MX Master 3. I've already got my return order placed on amazon for this piece of junk and ordered a Razer Pro Click Humanscale instead. No one told me that the MX Master 3 would somehow be a 125hz mouse in the 2020s despite being almost $100. What a joke. I ordered it thinking there's no way it's not a 1000hz mouse like is standard these days - but it's not.
I like hearing clicks on my mouse but after a while it gets annoying, plus I use my mouse in school a lot so it would be annoying to others to hear my mouse so I’m really considering the 3s. Thanks for the vid
I have MX Master 3 and I have a really big problem cleaning the mouse. The rubbery surface is so hard to clean. I used weather and clot only, and that is not enough to remove all the dirt. After 18 months of use, the rubber part where my palm started to peel off. That's a bummer. Luckily, Logitech sent me a replacement for it. That's so kind of them. Anyway, do you guys have any tips for cleaning the rubber part of the mouse?
IMO, using a usb-c receiver would narrow the market considerably. I for one have zero usb-c ports on my computer, or my monitor which has a hub, only usb-a ports. Not everyone has the very latest equipment. If it had a usb-c dongle, it would be a deal-breaker for me personally.
Both good mice but the rubberized plastic sucks totally! I hate it, after 3 years it peals off, feals and looks bad. (I same can be noticed on the used one in this video). This happens with all equipment/electronics cases made with this kind material. For example microsoft sculp mouse (it has rubber elements) also degrades after few years. Same with my Akai MPC Thouch... damn this material sucks badly! Please stop making expensive equipment/electronics with this material!
You can put your right Mouse button-finger😁 at the edge, (totally right side)... Then you can not click accidentally...I do that much often too and then I use the edge parking for my finger😁
Notebooks which have touch screen and pads etc. Are all using USB C. This is a desktop device. So, you would plug it into a dock which still has USB A or a desktop that is still 80% USB A. TO be precise, it is for right-hand mousers.. I am left-handed but just always used my mouse on the right.
Not mentioned anywhere if this mouse is suitable for people with big hands. Most of the wireless mouses are not suitable for me because of their smaller size for portability. **Update** just tried it in the shop, the size is good for big hand, much better than the M650L. However 141g is just too heavy.
Actually it is good for big/huge hands.. i get a bit uncomfy using it for a longer period of time cause i have small hands, that's why i have anywhere 2s on the side if ever i feel uncomfortable using the mx master 3 hehe..
@@AZRVTECH I have already been using the new 3S mouse more than 6 days. Honestly, I prefer a silent mouse because I'm more active at night haha. Hopefully it can last long as I have no more warranty :))
Logitech MX master mice have always suffered from poor quality. well, that's not fair of me to say. because they are built very well. but on average i replaced all my MX master mice at least 2-3 times before a new release is out that i need to have. i owned every single MX master that they ever made! all of them have had problems at some point. i also own a Logitech G305 and that thing is unkillable!
Logitech never used quiet clicks in these mice. To me that's great since I click a lot lol. There was a business version of the regular 3 that has the bolt connector. I have this one. Bolt is awesome, first mouse ever to give me no problem 10 feet away from my computer.
It isn't Type-C because all devices with exclusively Type-C don't need a receiver, but use Bluetooth instead. And it has a low polling rate because this is not a gaming mouse by any means. It's just terrible for that regardless of the polling rate.
2:57 They use usb A as dongle and not usb C because they expect you to use the dongle on older desktops that does not have bluetooth or usb C On new laptops you have bluetooth
everything is almost ok, but the middle button (wheel) haptics is awkward - rolling works excelent, and biggest flaw is its main function- SENSOR RESPONSE TIME..... 125Hz polling rate makes movement extremly slow not responsive, definitively not whorty for proffesional workload..... ocassional usage for Outlook Word excel, its fine..... Because I bought it on company resources, its big obstacle to get it refund, but its definitvely not mouse for designers and any other proffesionals, even its highlighted as a mouse for proffesional work.
Agree about polling rate, biggest weakpoint of mx master series. Now I'm switch to g502x lightspeed, the button feeling too bad but get more accurate.
@AZRV Your CONs (....But is it really?) Con 1: 1.) While USB-C has almost no performance or usability downside over USB-A receiver, there are 2 likely reasons why USB-As were still preferred; Most computers/laptops all over the globe haven't adopted incorporating USB-C ports on them. I mean just take a look around your own office or general school computers. How about other users from other countries? Why would Logitech potentially create a barrier for themselves in the event a consumer wishes to purchase their new product but end up choosing some others because their device has no USB-C port yet and have to purchase a new adapter port just to get the mouse? 2.) It is considerably lower cost as of now (Yes. Even though evidently, the direction for all electronics manufacturer is to phase out the use of USB-A, it is still going to have to take awhile) Con 2: Polling Rate - Poll...what??? C'mon. You want a gaming mouse or a mouse meant for work? Make up your mind. For that amount and you're branding a con for its poor polling rate as compared to a gaming mouse when the design team did not set it nor market it to be a gaming mouse? If you think adding the dual-functionality of increased polling rate for user by a switch function is that easy, I think you should start a company to compete against them then. I'll bet you'd be the new market leader if you can do that AND maintain the cost. Con 3: You want a mouse at Price X with a comfortable right-hand grip or a symmetrical mouse that doesn't sit well under your palm? Do you want a comfortable, durable, productive mouse for work at Price X that's only sold in a right-handed grip design or do you prefer to be paying X + Y with Y being the additional cost it takes them to split up the manufacturing process for MX Master 3S just to produce a separate left-hand grip design for less than 10% of the potential buyers in the market??? I can assure you that Y amount is definitely not going to be less 10% the cost of X. Which means to say, basically, if you're a right-handed person like most, you'll now have to pay $Y (a hidden cost that you won't know) more just so that logitech can produce a small portion to cater to the approximately 10% of its potential users. When I say 10%, I actually am being generous here because let's not forget the ambidextrous (in terms of use of mouse). Onboard memory? I can assure you that based on its past designs and sales & market research, Logitech, being a capitalist profit-maximising firm, has learnt who exactly are the ones who are going to buy the new MX model and I can assure you that they aren't generic clerical workers because no firm would invest in a specific mouse to increase productivity unless it was a deliberate and extensive employee initiative. Also, name me another mouse in the market that's able to allow a user to customize its button functions right down to the specific app itself AND require no onboard memory? That productive functionality itself IS a main selling point of this model and one of the main reasons why its designers built for. So if your work computer can't process an installation of a functional mouse program and hold onboard memory for future usage, then is it really a CON of the product or the reviewer being a nick-picker when the product was not design or built to please him/her in the first place? All in all, I guess what I'm trying to say is..JUST GET THE FREAKING MOUSE DAMNIT. I've been using Logitech MX series for ages....I've had many gaming mice and they always come and go but more often than not, I only retire my MX mouse when a new one with much better specs enters the market and not because the current one is spoilt.
I bought a MX Master 3S, and I hate it! Its a bit smaller than my MX master 1. Sure, its smoother, and quiter, but the size seems wrong for my hands. Anyone else?
USB C for mouse? Really ? You are out the reality. All mices should use normal USB 3.0 instead of this temp type-c and other not test by time connectors.
Wow, that is a seriously biased comparison, you only gave benefits of the MX master 3s, over the MX Master 3. And completely ignored the MX Master 3, focusing only on the MX Master 3s..... that's not a comparison that's just your BIASED OPINIONS. And you used that as an excuse to talk about the MX master 3s, but let's be real.... it's a downgrade, and its defective.
@@AZRVTECH I apologize for making you wait, and i need to clarify something, everyone is biased, your biased, im biased, my neighbors pet squirrel is biased. That's because we have lived different lives, and experienced different things, had different teachers, different families, as well as different genders, and ages. So being biased also means being unique, so don't feel upset about being biased, its natural.... The only ones who are not biased are dead. Ok as for why the MX Master 3s is a downgrade: besides the connectivity issues, the clicks are softer and sound mushy just hearing it makes me queasy(This is the biased part). But that ties into the defect. Over time your clicks will become mushy, and fail at a much higher rate. Logitech and other companies tried using these switches in the past. But they gave up because of the absurdly high failure rate(more like 300% RMA rates). Logitech supposedly fixed the issue, but you cannot fix an issue that is the core of the design. You would need to completely scrap the design and start over. but they are using the same switches with with just a little bit of modifications. There is a chance that they may have mitigated some of the problem.... but it is a massively flawed design. And no matter how much Logitech says they new switches, they are not. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Cannot use mx master 3 with cable to computer. Usbc is for charging only. However, while mouse charges you can still use it.
I like hearing clicks on my mouse but after a while it gets annoying, plus I use my mouse in school a lot so it would be annoying to others to hear my mouse so I’m really considering the 3s. Thanks for the vid
Thanks for this video I just ordered this to replace my Apple mouse. Will this work well with my MacBook Pro M1?
Of course :)
I am using the handshoe mouse. Is this one anywhere as comfortable?
The click noise on the 2 is ridiculously loud. Wish I had known about the 2S when I bought it.😢
Just about to buy it. Is that logi bolt app required for pairing? You can't just plug and use on rsndom computer?
Hi, no app is not required if you don’t want to install it. You can just plug and use. Or connect via Bluetooth :)
Anyway, do you guys have any tips for cleaning the rubber part of the mouse?
it comes off..
and yes.. just use a 70/30 isopropyl alcohol mix
Alcohol
IMO, using a usb-c receiver would narrow the market considerably. I for one have zero usb-c ports on my computer, or my monitor which has a hub, only usb-a ports. Not everyone has the very latest equipment. If it had a usb-c dongle, it would be a deal-breaker for me personally.
Still having problems with airpods like mx3?
Would you think it being unusable by the left handed people in the world would be a con?
the main con of 3s - it works reliably only when the USB receiver is within 50 cm...
Does the scroll wheel on the MX Master 3 and 3S have a left and right click?
Both good mice but the rubberized plastic sucks totally! I hate it, after 3 years it peals off, feals and looks bad. (I same can be noticed on the used one in this video). This happens with all equipment/electronics cases made with this kind material. For example microsoft sculp mouse (it has rubber elements) also degrades after few years. Same with my Akai MPC Thouch... damn this material sucks badly! Please stop making expensive equipment/electronics with this material!
You make amazing reviews and videos ! Greetings from Greece
Are buttons any stiffer? I find I am accidentally right clicking all the time.
Notebooks have bluetooth, so this mouse can connect.
Man I never thought I would love a mouse this much. LOVE my Master 3!
Master 3 or 3S?
@@Rani.Dutta. 3 has normal mouse clicky noise 3s doesn't
@@neoanderz Sorry but I asked about your comment, you said 'Love my Master 3' were you referring to Master 3 or Master 3S? Was it a typo?
@@Rani.Dutta. Master 3
@@neoanderz ahh okay.
Bluetooth connection option should be no problem if you don't want to use the dongle
I had some trouble understanding your accent but from what I could make out, I enjoyed your review
I bring Mx Master 3 mouse for warranty and they return me a mx master 3S instead. So does it worth than my old mouse?
Wow that’s cool :) It is the same mouse, just a bit better.
@@AZRVTECH I have already been using the new 3S mouse more than 6 days. Honestly, I prefer a silent mouse because I'm more active at night haha. Hopefully it can last long as I have no more warranty :))
You can simply turn your own MX Master 3 to 3S by changing the its switches to silent mouse switches.
I didn’t get a USB receiver in my box🤷🏽♂️
Logitech never used quiet clicks in these mice. To me that's great since I click a lot lol. There was a business version of the regular 3 that has the bolt connector. I have this one. Bolt is awesome, first mouse ever to give me no problem 10 feet away from my computer.
Great video. A pop filter for your mic would be nice.
Perfect review style!
It isn't Type-C because all devices with exclusively Type-C don't need a receiver, but use Bluetooth instead.
And it has a low polling rate because this is not a gaming mouse by any means. It's just terrible for that regardless of the polling rate.
2:57 They use usb A as dongle and not usb C because they expect you to use the dongle on older desktops that does not have bluetooth or usb C
On new laptops you have bluetooth
Great video and analysis.
Thanks Ayhan! :)
Thanks
everything is almost ok, but the middle button (wheel) haptics is awkward - rolling works excelent, and biggest flaw is its main function- SENSOR RESPONSE TIME.....
This is a productivity mouse ! Not a faming mouse, there are specific gaming mice !
Agree about polling rate, biggest weakpoint of mx master series. Now I'm switch to g502x lightspeed, the button feeling too bad but get more accurate.
High polling rate is useless in a workplace environment, longer battery life is not. This is not a gaming mouse.
get this man a pop filter
it's "quiet" clicks.... not "quite"
Scrolling issue where it stops responding to scroll events mid-scroll if repeat-scrolling too fast makes this a total worthless mouse.
Totally agree
thank you for good information.
Mx Master 4... USB c bolt receiver. I bet.
Lovely Jevgenij😊
Thanks :)
Great video!!!
@AZRV
Your CONs (....But is it really?)
Con 1:
1.) While USB-C has almost no performance or usability downside over USB-A receiver, there are 2 likely reasons why USB-As were still preferred;
Most computers/laptops all over the globe haven't adopted incorporating USB-C ports on them.
Even though evidently, the direction for all electronics manufacturer is to phase out the use of USB-A, it is still going to have to take awhile)
Con 2:
Polling Rate - Poll...what???
Con 3:
You want a mouse at Price X with a comfortable right-hand grip or a symmetrical mouse that doesn't sit well under your palm?

Yeah to big and heave weigh for my hand!😁
To big and the dongle doesn't even fit in it

USB C for mouse? Really ? You are out the reality. All mices should use normal USB 3.0 instead of this temp type-c and other not test by time connectors.
Wow, that is a seriously biased comparison, you only gave benefits of the MX master 3s, over the MX Master 3. And completely ignored the MX Master 3, focusing only on the MX Master 3s..... that's not a comparison that's just your BIASED OPINIONS. And you used that as an excuse to talk about the MX master 3s, but let's be real.... it's a downgrade, and its defective.
Why downgrade? And why it is defective ?
@@extremelypuppy Honestly your first message sounded really crass and angry, im glad you clarified with this insightful opinion. This helps, I personally love quiter clicks since I work at night and the click is insanely annoying on my 3, i was considering the 3s literally just for this, mine has also gotten sticky as many mention is normal after 3 years which i was considering getting a skin for to fix. I appreciate your feedback I definately dont want a failing click button even if its quiter which is actually what im looking for
the 3s is horrible, bought it, used it for 10 minutes and hated it. When you click its like there is no feedback, feels like the distance it moves when u click is so insignificant that it feels like u havent clicked. its simply terrible. returned it and got the non s - love it, best mouse have ever used.
But 3s has better sensor
intersting, i hate the loud click, it almost makes me twitch at night everytime i click lol, also the better sensor intruiges me a bit since sometimes the 3 skips a beat for me even on a good gaming mousepad, its rare but noticeable
@@exposedhobo the 3s feels terrible with the click having no feel to it
And it’s better looking being all black
