I don’t skateboard and have never skateboarded (I’m not coordinated enough for it) yet this is my favorite documentary of all time. I watch it every year.
I met Stacy at TIFF (Toronto International Film Fest.) for a screening of the Bones Brigade doc. I was terrified to meet him as he is one of my idols but he was/is pretty awesome! He was stoked that I had the VHS cover of Animal Chin mounted on a plaque and he signed it as well. I still smile when I think of that night. Thanks Stacy!
In the mid '70s when I was 12 years old skating around the neighborhood in Dayton, Ohio, Stacy Peralta was an absolute rock star. Still is! He revolutionized skateboarding and showed it to the world. Pretty cool, man. 🔥
"Finally establishing myself as something..." Sir, long before that movie came out, I was riding a Gordon & Smith Warptail 2 because of you. Massive inspiration to me, you and the rest of the Z-Boys.
Elizabeth Darvell other than vocal range, yeah. For sure. Identical recognition. 13 years later. Still can’t believe this movie is as underrated as it is.
@@AdeptusOfficial, that can be answered by just who is out there at the skate parks and wearing skateboard-related brands. Until about fifteen or so years ago, skateboarding was unfairly characterized - stereotyped - as a "suburban white kid" hobby and sport, especially outside of California. The same narrow-minded stereotyping is also applied to so many other things like rock music, surfing, and so much more. Either way, the sight of Black skateboard kids in Vans and Thrasher shirts was practically non-existent.
No shit there was a lot of buzz. It’s my favorite documentary of all time. While you’re watching it, it’s like you’re having fun with the guys (and Peggy) while they’re skateboarding. The positivity is infectious! Not to mention it’s got a great soundtrack.
I am a bones brigade baby and I was at photo impact/Santa Monica in the early 2000's. It is a small spot and I am at the counter and after Stacy walks out and said that's Stacy Peralta.
stacy is the original z boy to be the one that discoverd TONY HAWK...the pioneer of paving the way for xgames and any phenomenal new move in skate boarding today

Same! Loved the documentary and the movie. Yet, never skateboarded.

I know, why did he say that or feel that? He was a huge success back in the day and made a name for himself to this day.
Anyone else think Jeff Daniels could pull off playing Stacey Peralta?
100%, he'd need to put on a little weight and sprout some hair asap though...
dave coulier would own that role.

Haha I could see it!!
Definitely
Many docs I have seen but few have brought out emotion like Dogtown.
Being a kid in the 70's was pretty cool.
This was 2 minutes and 26 seconds of inspiration for me.
I'm 23 I saw this movie when I was 9 & it became my most favorite movie & I've been skating for 14 years
Just watched it again with my son (again) the other night. One of the best documentaries EVER.
Just watching the movie for the first time Stacey. Love it man!
It is interesting how the younger generation has approached skateboarding. It has become embraced by a completely different demographic.
Has it? What demographic would that be?? 🤔

Wow that is a great story!! You are one of the best Stacy!
Agreed!

That's gotta be a trip to hear that. "Your show is sold out" "What?"
Well deserved Stacy I remember meeting you at Foothill College for a opening of animal chin in Northern California huge crowd well received
LOVED THE MOVIE!!
Stacy's real humble considering he made the Powell Peralta videos.
Ahhh I love stacy

That 70s West coast vibe set the stage for skateboarding.
Wow Joey Gladstone does a great impression of Stacy Peralta 😂
Love Stacy!
I was just a kid living in Cypress California and if I remember right Stacy Peralta jumped a 240Z was like 19 70 something
Very inspiring
Love stacy interesting
And rightly so
🏄
Skip Engblom interview
he looks like harry from dumb and dumber 😂😁😂😀😃😆😅
no offense js.
Which is why getting Jeff Daniels to play him as an adult is perfect casting (as another commenter has already said).
I have watched Lords of Dogtown. I have not watched Dogtown and Z boys, but I bet it's better than. Lords of Dogtown
They both have their merits, but yes, the documentary *is* better
This guy looks like a middle aged 14 year old
what a great story
