Grew up with Stacy. Spent many a day wasting away time on the beach in Dogtown. He is right, it was a rough & tumble area filled with homeless, bikers, gangs... and "never amount to anything" surf bums. For many of us our first skate boards were a piece of 2x4 with the metal wheels from our sisters old roller skates nailed to it! Total death machines! Lots of steep hills in Mar Vista. Lots of scary rides. Best of Tim's. Stacy was always down to earth and had none of the arrogance that many of the other "cool" kids seemed to have. Glad to have those memories.

I constantly wonder if we’ll ever see Stacey released any footage of his amazing phenomenal son Austin Peralta. What a phenomenal musician. But I know there’s so much footage of him with his father. The existence of the two definitely left a mark on the future of Skateboarding and music. I would only hope that there will be a day that Stacey feels comfortable enough to share this with the rest of us fans of his son. Indeed when I grew up Stacey changed my life and created an individual that would spend the rest of his life with a skateboard. But I was also really into music. And I had no idea his son was such a phenomenal musician. Now that I know this to be true I also know that there is footage out there. This footage needs to be shared with all of us because Stacey raised the most amazing musician to ever sat on a piano seat. Absolutely amazing.

Stacy was directly for two of the most magical periods of my life. The Bones Brigade inspired me to start skating in the mid 80s and Dogtown and Z Boys brought me back to it. Thanks Stacy. I can't imagine my life without skating. There were times when I felt like it was all I had and I wonder sometimes if I would have made it to adulthood without it.

This interview..shows part of the reason why Stacy achieved what Jay and to a lesser extent Alva did not. He's fuckin' smart! He's articulate, well-mannered, he presents himself well yet without the arrogance that was so negative about Tony Alva and he's never been afraid to give credit to others and he's a winner in his own right. Great interview with a true icon.

Tony and Stacy are two different characters. Stacy was arrogant and money hungry too. I guess he hides it well. Alva gets all the credit for hitting the pools first, and introducing style to the sport. Alva was way more of an innovator than this kook.

I don't know if Stacy will ever see this but for somebody who was a young skater, I think eight at the time, the first time I ever saw Lords of Dogtown it became one of my favorite films only because it was the first feature skateboarding film I ever saw or that I knew existed. So I hope he knows that that movie solidified in a child with only one friend who skated that there were people just like me who got looked down on or dismissed for being a skateboarder.
