    This is really good, you summed it all up in less than three minutes. I wish you had been around when I first started. I could never get a good tone so of course I thought it must be the whistle not me. Instead of just practising I bought another whistle. You could have saved me a bit of money.

    Got my whistle and beginners guide in the mail today!!! If Squidward played the tin whistle, that's exactly what I sound like😅 I now have a realistic goal, which is to play "Twinkle Twinkle" without butchering it lol

      I have not done the PCT trail yet, when I do I will definitely be bringing my whistle. How about I teach you "Pippin's Song" from Return of the King?

      This thread made my day haha! I just ordered my first tin whistle and one of the reasons I am looking forward to it is to play on hikes / in camp. @Tin Whistle Traveler Do you know the Ancient Stones song from Skyrim?

    Great videos ! What tin whistle would be a good starter? Thank you so much

    • @TinWhistleTraveler
      @TinWhistleTraveler  Рік тому

      Thanks Topo! I think any cheap whistle like a Feadog or Generation (anything in that price range) is a good starter because its cheap and sensitive to how much air you blow into it. But I think this is a good thing because it teaches breath control. You can also purchase the whistle I use in most of my videos - Dixon High D DX001 in the key of D. It's about $18 and would make a great christmas gift!

      Thanks Tin Whistle Traveler ! I have just purchased a Clarke sweetone black D from a local shop. It was the only tin whistle available. The shop employee explained a few of its traits . Cheers to your channel and help !

    I've been struggling to get the higher octave notes. No matter what I do I get a screeching nails on a chalkboard screech.

    • @TinWhistleTraveler
      @TinWhistleTraveler  Рік тому +1

      Try to get the high octave note by using the tongue technique by saying "two". exercise: play the low note then the same note in the upper octave, dD eE fF gG aA. hope this helps bud, keep it up!

    Hey man was wondering if you could check out the video of me playing the Boondock Saints theme. I learned from your video and it’s the first thing I learned to play. Doesn’t sound anywhere close to as good as you preformed it but what I did learn, I learned pretty quick!

    What tin whistle would you recommend to buy?

    • @TinWhistleTraveler
      @TinWhistleTraveler  4 роки тому +3

      Ha I'm no expert, so I can only recommend the two whistles I ever bought. First was a 10 dollar whistle in the key of D at guitar center. Super sensitive but starting out I feel that's a good thing cuz it teaches breath control. The one I use now and what you see in the videos is a Tony Dixon DX001 in the key of D. Stick with it dude! We all were beginners at one point.
