I actually hate the BSAA is bad plot and hope it gets completely ignored and would laugh out loud if it just gets explained away in a note in RE9. Maybe it's me, but the "the organization you've been working for is secretly run by someone evil!" trope feels so overdone at this point. It's not even new to Resident Evil.
I've come around massively to this game, but im still disappointed that they decided to scale down how scary this game was because of 7. I think Resident evil games are best when they at least try to be scary.
After Mia cuts off Ethan's hand in 7, every inclusion of Mia in the RE storyline has done more to hurt the plot than help it. I never cheered for a moment more than Chris shooting her.
Also, they really "yadda yadda" through putting Rose back together. Ethan having jars of daughter pieces, Heisenberg going, "I can help you put her back together" and Ethan declining makes no sense. He didn't know he was mold.
The RE5 GL round Tier List idea was ELITE. Should totally be the default going forward for ranking videos. 🤣
A big hot take for me is RE8 has some of the best/most enjoyable combat out of most resident evil games. Definitely in the top three for me personally. Behind RE4 Remake in first and RE5 in second
Hot Take: The Weapons are Clunky and Boring. The only weapons you really even use are the M79 or the S.T.A.K.E other than that the rest you don’t even have to touch. Plus the story has a weird pacing issue where it goes slow fast slow fast and balls to the way crazy at the end.
Well yeah, when you use the most broken weapons it is pretty easy
@@Toast4128 I’ve done pistol only to even melee only on shadows difficulty and they all felt the same except the two I mentioned. If they had a resident evil 4 approach to where certain weapons are tools rather than just option a b or same. Then yeah I get it but the weapons don’t really feel great at all. I really don’t like how the weapons feel so slow and clunky like DEFINITELY shotguns because I never pick them up and just avoid them until I get the SYG at the end and even then it’s not great IMO.
Thank you for featuring me in the video, and I'd love to see more of these for other series like dead space and whatnot. Also I 1000 % agree that most horror media isn't scary unless it's like the original Ju On Grudge or PT.

I didn't think the baby was that scary even on the first time. Mainly cause whenever a game does something like take away all my weapons or limit my options like that, I know it's either going to be very short or very easy. The level design made it pretty easy to figure out what to do as well. Baby blocking your path, go another way. At a dead end, hide in a closet.
The Village Of Shadows difficulty is too hard and almost unplayable on New Game with no Shop items

I am not a fan the inventory and crafting system in Village. The inventory is so massive. I’d be shocked if anyone struggled with making room for items. And crafting items not taking inventory space adds to the massive feel of it. They stack infinitely and at least in the early game there’s little relap between crafting items so decision making is very minimal as well.
Ima save this hot take for a later video, but after i realized that lady dimitrescu was in the mercenaries, i feel like they had way more options later down the line, like in re4r, yeah i know it's a remake and all, but it would been cool to play as someone like verdugo, saddler, maybe even chief mendez!!!!, i like the mercenaries in that game of course but i feel like they could've gone more out.

The cooking I don’t think was that underbaked(haha). It does what it does well. The key word being “that”.
I think they could’ve had more with the cooking no doubt. At least give us the movement speed one first.
Some areas with meat is locked off after certain sections which is terrible. The first time you come across fish you don’t even know about the cooking mechanic. More on that later. There’s also a section right before the Chris cutscene at the reservoir that you can’t access if you trigger the cutscene.
The number one indefensible thing about the mechanic is that the game doesn’t tell you about it until much later in the game and AFTER you have already come across some animals. It is bad game design, straight up, objectively speaking. I’m shocked more people don’t talk about this. I believe the cooking isn’t a thing until like after Beneviento’s section(I could be wrong). By then you’ve already came by fish which is now inaccessible or if you did slaughter the animals you probably sold off the meat. Then you learn you can get stat increases? Excuse me? At the very least what they could’ve done is have Duke shout out to you before leaving the castle like “hey if you are ever in a hunting mood, bring the kill back to me and I’ll whip you up something real nice” and then have the kitchen be available by time you meet up with him again. Or just move any animals out to a spot where you can actually access them.
Ya know if you only do 25 takes per video I think that's pretty good and since you got almost double since the last one it's understandable to have that done and i hope you do more no pressure😅❤
The Ethan being dead thing I very much hate. I did not like the twist. If they had just left it at him being infected that would’ve been good. We already knew he was even though the game never stated so. Ethan being infected can also kinda explain why mold wasn’t detected immediately within him even though it’s still dumb that tests still weren’t ran on him. And maybe even Ethan himself knew on some level but didn’t want to accept that reality?
But Mia is the biggest question mark still. Knowing this and still carries on? What? Why? The answer is that she was afraid of losing Ethan. That doesn’t explain why she doesn’t tell him at least or why she chose to have a kid with him. I really question her motives. I already didn’t like her and still don’t like her.
I got a bit sidetracked there but yea I really don’t like that revelation. I don’t mind Ethan coming back when Miranda rips his heart out. But the always dead thing bothers me. Just say he’s been infected all this time.
For me personally, I think not seeing Ethan's face makes a lot of sense. Both his games are in the first person perspective. We are meant to see his story unfold through his eyes. It has nothing to do with maintaining a mystery for some big reveal later. It is moreso that his face doesn't matter with how the narrative is presented. Should they have given us something in the extras that showed his face? Probably, but his face didn't matter.
Nah it’s dumb. The fact they still hide his face even at the end of the game is so forced and weakens the moment. Even South Park got this right with their movie when Kenny died lol. Would’ve been so cool to see his face when he activates the detonator. At least his eyes. And to make even worse is that they double down on this in the DLC when he isn’t even the main character. WHY?! Imagine how cool it would’ve been if we got to finally see him as Rose gets to? It’s such a baffling decision. And then they tripled down on it with the third person mode where we can’t turn the camera facing him. It’s so weird.
It’s not a hot take, but my favorite re game has always been re8, even after playing the other ones since re8 was my introduction to resident evil. I always found the plot and story to be very fun and interesting, despite it’s many flaws. I just think it’s a really fun game that competes with re4 to me. I can definitely understand the criticism though. One take that I do have ( idk if it’s hot or not) is that I really hate how they put Chris on the cover and how he literally looks like he’s turning into a werewolf. To me it looks really stupid and doesn’t make sense at all. He didn’t even turn into a werewolf in the game :( All jokes aside I think it would have been better if they put Ethan on the cover, since he’s literally the main character and the covers he’s been on are the coolest (imo - I just really like the Ethan must die dlc art). It’s not like him being a faceless character would even make him being on the cover challenging, since they’ve done it before.
Oh damn I missed out on the sharing post lol, ah well I'll just leave it here: So this is kinda a weird and nuanced take but, I wish they kept Chris's 7 design for 8. Now I know that everyone and their mother memes on re7 Chris, but I always saw it as "oh well the RE Engine era is sorta like a series reboot, so it makes sense for the characters to have a fresh look". But then in 8, they completely change his appearance to look closer to 5/6????? It's honestly so jarring. And I can't imagine how confused new players were who have only played 7 at that point. Where's the consistency Capcom? I'd rather have a coherent character design than all this flip-floppy stuff. And that's not even mentioning the fact that he sounds *exactly* like Carlos from 3R. Just a complete mess. Hopefully that all sorta makes sense lmao. Anyway, I'm a RE7 Chris apologist 😂

Hot Take Re8 is an s tier game the point that characters are underbaked isn't true and all the locations fit in. The point that the game boring on the 2nd playthrough just don't make it boring. the only negative thing that I can say is the VR mechanics like cooking and the VR guns ain't immersive. and overall awesome game. plz include me in the next hot take video. (this is all my opinion so if u disagree it's ok it's just my opinion)
