- Hey guys it's Chris, I hope you all enjoyed your Valentines Day. The channel hit 1.5k subs recently and to celebrate, I gave away some LASFIT stickers. Todays video is an installation of a short ram intake on the 2021 Honda Civic Sport Hatch. This will NOT add HP to your vehicle. It will only give you that cool wooshing nose and maybe 1 or 1.5 avg mpg as the intake will not be restricting any air from going into your engine. If you want to have an increase in power, get a cold air intake which I will probably be doing one day. But for now, enjoy the sounds of a short ram intake.

Damn I have the 17 sports hatch. Got it when it first came out but unfortunately got into accidents that weren’t my fault so my car doesn’t look as clean :/ Came across your videos and definitely got hooked lol. I’ve always had people work on my car but I’m pretty good at learning stuff so I might just try and change it up a bit
Chris I did the same setup, now you need to get splitter all around and get the HRS taillights

Nice vid....I am concerned about the heat soak since it doesn't have anything to reflect the heat from the engine.
I get adequate power using k&n air intake, my acceleration after (turbo lag) is better than stock. it's just full cold air intake has more dense cool air, more oxygen etc etc. but both will give you hp and of course whoosh! :D

probably too late, but you can use any filter as long as it fits. I recommned k&n air filter

Yes. But I want to hit at least 10k-15kmiles on it. That way I'll be able to give the engine time to loosen up a bit before I really push it. 😄
Just took out my air filter. Not getting my short ramp till tomorrow. Went in my car and turned it on to accessory mode. Every single light came on. Oil, light, engine, light, etc. Hoping that is because I took out the air filter.

Hey Crhis, I have a Honda 2019 Sports Turbo 1.5L Hatchback, and I just got the Takeda Power Air-intake. I was wondering if there will be any issues/concerns, Problem if I were to upgrade by taking out my stock air intake and installing the new air intake I just got. Thanks

Hopefully you see this on your notivs, but i have a 2020 civic and i want to add a cold air intake, is this same exact intake compatible with my 2020 civic sedan? Also i live in FL and it gets very hot, would i need a heat reflective/diminishing padding or something on the intake pipe?
Tell me one thing ,. does the oem box with the resonator box have some way to get cold air from the bottom? or the resonator box is closed ? Is there some kind of air circulation when you remove the boxes? I am still trying to make up My mind if its worth buying the more expensive short rams with some donwpiping or the normal ones with a heat shield will do :D

Hey bro, i've just installed a hks intake and feel as thought the throttle response is poor. Did you have any issues with the throttle after installing in intake ?
I just installed this same one on my 2018 SI two days ago and now I’m getting misfire codes for all cylinders. I guess my car just does not like it which is a shame because I love the sound. It’s the street MAF but it makes my car throw codes. I’ll re-install the stock box and clear the codes today, what a bummer. 😰

Its not the filter that is restricting the air flow. Its the intake box itself.

It's best if you call your dealer. Mine said it voids warranty. But that's why I kept the stock air box just in case need to take it to them. I'll put the stock intake back on.
My sales guy told me that if it's something you can reinstall the OEM part, it doesn't void the warranty.
To be honest youll lack when it comes to preformance. Youre turning your stock cold air intake into a hot air. It youre doing it just for the sound buly all means.
Hi! Im currently using PRL cobra CAI but im worried of flood issue sucking up water. I'm thinking to get the conversion kit to change it to a short ram instead. But do you face any heat soak issue? Is it necessary to install a heat shield? TIA!

If you’re cruising you won’t hear this trust me, unless you’re accelerating aggressively constantly or accelerating. If you’re on a highway at a cruising speed you’re ok lol

well yeah ofc you can but eventually the revs will drop. i personally let go of the gas a bit before red line so i can quickly step on it again and continue speeding up. i consider it as a shift of gears lol. but for the heat im also in cali and i suggest looking for one w a heat shield on it.

I have 2018 civic hatchback with the same air system and I can’t heard the difference, also every time I’ve to change the air filter is a nightmare, because Honda don’t have it.

Yes it voids the warranty

It will not void the warranty, I just took my car to the dealership and told them I want to add the intake and they said it will be fine

Any issues with heat soak? I can’t decide between cai or Sri? I’m very new to modding (only cosmetic mods so far), and just do normal driving, no hard driving or racing.
Ive Install mine K&N CAI and the car feel sluggish. A lot of people recommend trying short ram intake with heat shield
On a SRI, heatsoak is always an issue with these cars. A CAI is going to be better. But a solid intercooler will mostly eliminate the issue outright.

I have a k and n cold air intake and mine doesn’t have the swoosh sound
I just installed mine on the exact year and model as yours. I love the sound and it is way more pronounced in person. My only concern is that little winding noise on idle from the engine and I noticed yours has the same noise after installation. Is that normal?

Its a noise boost and hot air intake 🤣🤣🤣, you need a heatshield between engine and airfilter especialy where you live..its hot a lot
Agreed as this mod will reduce horsepower with heat soak. Should have spent then extra $100 on the cold air PRL. But that saves room for another video. 😅🤣😂

Never had any issues with this even during hot summer days. It rarely gets above 90 degrees from where I'm from.
I have a question. As soon as i put the short ram intake in. the next day a lot of censors starting popping up like power steering, emissions, and cruise control. Not sure what it’s from and if it’s bad for my car
Mine did the same exact thing. The codes were for multiple misfires. I put the stock air box back on and all codes went away. One thing I’m noticing is the majority of people getting codes from this intake have lots of miles on the cars, the people not getting codes are cars with less miles.

You do realise you won’t get much more horsepower from a full cold air intake either right?. Even with a full cai and a tune you might make a gain of 3-5 horsepower intakes are literally just for noise unless your running other mods.

@@akramalhabsi390 there’s no negative side effect to the engine or horsepower, it’s just helps car release air and it boost the sound of the turbo 👌🏼
Highly not suggested by both of the most renown tuners, John Vega and Dereck Robinson (DRob). ECU is expecting that air and if you vent it to atmosphere, it will cause your car to run rich, which overtime can cause problems. Some sort of intake that's not K&N or Injen will be your best bets for sound.

Yes. PRL also has a cold air intake converter if ever you want to convert the short ram to a cold air or vice versa.
But yes. You can install a cold air intake.

No tuning required. Unless your buying a race cai.
@@thacringekaangtm6509 don’t buy a cold air intake. The air goes through an intercooler before it goes into the engine. It’s unnecessary.
@@iDrive4fun93 Intake doesn't exactly hurt matters, but a SRI can cause heatsoak. The stock IC is nearly maxed out from factory, but if you upgrade your IC to a better aftermarket one, that problem is eliminated entirely.

Intakes never require a tune. They also don’t really do anything, other than make good sounds.
Will this affect my warranty?
That’s what crossed my mind first too, the warranty issue. Because he mentioned that if you flash the ECU, they’re going to void your warranty.

Does this void warranty?
You'd have to call your dealer. Mine says it does but that's why I have all the stock parts so I can put it back on when I need to take the car to the dealer.
A lot of viewers says that it doesn't void warranty. I guess it depends on the dealer.
