Julian from Yamaha comes in to show Lee the amazing new THR amps from Yamaha.
The Yamaha THR10C is all about those classic boutique bluesy sounding amps. Every aspect of the amp has been designed with this in mind, digital Delay is replaced a warm Tape Delay Emulation and each of the effects are tuned to the sound of the old classic amps.
THR10C takes the personal-amp concept to a new level of audio fidelity. The finest tube amps respond to a player's every touch -- with picking dynamics and playing style adding as much to the tone as your guitar and pickups.
As someone just waiting for his 10C to be delivered, this video is the best out there for wetting my appetite and giving me such good tips for setting it up when it arrives.
This video is so funny. Watching the Captain awkwardly try to avert his eyes to the guitar while Julian stares intensely into his soul while playing, made me forget all about the amp. XD
i was about to comment the same. Why is that guy staring at the captain so bad??
I love an awkward guitar stare, it's like they're waiting for you to compliment their playing...
Probably something I wouldn't have noticed but now that I have it makes you have a smile.. Very intimidating.
@@christophertaylor5966 Its like they're making sure you're watching...or trying to intimidate you with their superior skills.
lolz
Watching this march 2019. And just realized this existed. So underrated amp
UA-cam is like the ship of the damned. Every musician, instrument and piece of equipment is underrated here.
Funny Wizzard z. I am looking which amp to buy in 2019. I want to keep the right amount of my money in my pocket. Only wanna spend $150-$299.
Best thing since sliced bread! I'm happy that amp manufacturers finally realised that not all of their customers can play at stadium volume. And we still want great tones.
My jaw is literally hanging open after hearing that C - will be picking one of these up tomorrow!
glad i came across this vid
ive been looking at different amps for a while now
and i must say, im impressed
A bit late to the party here, but this is some awesome content! I bought a used THR10C many years ago. Stopped playing guitar for a few years but finally have some more space and desire. Using this amp again finally and this video is a great refresher on the capabilities and functions of this wonderful little amp. Thanks!
love the way he intensely gases into the captains eyes every time he plays
haha!!so longingly
lol!your killing me here man!
+Shaun Malcolm
You're right man.
The guitar dude is seriously intense. The captain looks decidedly nervous as well...
He's like "What you think about this? Do you like it? Then take it, Captain! TAKE IT!"
HAHAHA holy crap
Julian is a seriously good player.
Same, love my THR10 as well. It is just so perfect for my home and the crunch channel is fantastic!
got one a few years ago, still loving it as it was the first day. The new one must be a killer, yet, the switch on this one is such a satisfier! I know it sounds silly but that click and the faux glowing tubes, on top of the very good tone and responsiveness makes this little thing a giant
Ive had my thr10 for about a year now...its my favorite piece of gear & probably the best money I have ever spent. (found it used, in perfect condition...and only cost me $108)...it is truely incredible and still impresses me every time I use it.
I like the look of them
Bought one of these from Andertons about 2 weeks ago and I have been blown away by the spectrum of sound on offer from a small box! I have rekindled a love for my Les Paul after plugging her into the thr10c! Highly recommend both the amp and Andertons!
Jon B how on EARTH can you loose love for a les paul?
its like falling out of love with a mute super model that doesn't age ,likes to clean, can cook , likes loud music and is horny 24/7
trillriff-axegrinder I think it was more than I lost the love of my previous amp which didn't do justice to the les paul, or any other guitar for that matter.
I’ve had this amp for years now. Recently I did some minimal-ising of my home studio and my instruments. I put this right beside my lounge chair, and have been playing the heck out of it! I used to use it through my pedalboard as an a/b amp with my Fender, and ran the Thr10 through my studio monitors. It was great, but I had the Thr10 hiding behind some other gear and only used one setup. Now that I’ve got it in my living room right beside my chair and my guitar and bass rack, I hardly ever play my big rig! This has all I need, and it works well for home guitar or bass! I’m genuinely playing a lot more, and enjoying learning the depths of this little amp, and loving every minute!
I think yamaha are a criminaly underrated company when it comes to music gear. I learned to play on an RGX121S (which sadly they don't make anymore) and it's a fine guitar.
Sounds awesome =)
+Dave Degenerate I can't think of any bad Yamaha products
They don’t have famous musicians endorsing their products. Having a hero endorse it would change everything.
So true. My first guitar was a Yamaha acoustic (FG-135?). It's sound was good enough to surprise some Martin owners I knew. I played it hard for many years, until I eventually passed it on to my nephew to be his first guitar. For an all-laminate guitar, it had a very balanced tone.
I also have the THR-10C. It is an awesome little amp and does perfectly fill the niche it's supposed to fill. Great tones!
Carlos Santana played a Yamaha Guitar in the 70's.
These are so cool, well done Yamaha!!
Fantastic guitar playing
I've owned my THR10C for a couple of years now. I love it most when I'm working aboard ships and need a low-volume practice amp in my stateroom. This is important when it comes to sleeping neighbors. Unlike other guitar amps, you don't need to crank volume to get good tone. Yes, it doubles nicely as an extension speaker for my computer and iTouch.
the captain has gotten much better in front of the camera over time. it's fun to look back. cheers!
i bought one of these 2 years ago and i was blown out by the quality ... you know technologies made big jumps over the last 10 years and now even a little amp like this can sound pretty cool ... if you connect this amp to a computer with the thr editor you can also have more additional effects to manage and a better control on the ones you already got . Even the output volume is amaing high for a little amp like this
These look really cool. I love my THR10.
Fantastic feature that you can record dry and wet signals. WOW. Perfect for recording!!! Just what I always wanted.
After owning an X for 6 years, finally managed to download the software. Holy Sh!t, I thought i loved it before, the software opens it up like Pandora's box!! It's a truly superb amp
I used one of the 10s recently and was blown away.
This thing sounds great! I had no idea! Going to go buy one....
im gonna get one
that is amazing
Ok, I officially need this unit ...
just ordered a thr10x from sweetwater. I've heard them in person and they are insane.
hopefully they make a combo
great sound
still sounds a nice amp
very nice
This thing rocks IMHO
I've got a THR10 and it's fantastic. You can use it for gigging. Run a line into the PA just like a Helix. For recording it's great.
The amp sounds nice......aside from all the other comments, it almost makes me wish I had waited, instead of buying my Roland Micro RX......But, the RX offers it's own rhythm/beat section and that's a lot of fun....it does everything this one does; but, I would like to have both of them in the same room to hear the difference....Thanks for the video, guys......
Theses amps are absolutely awesome! However, like the Cap said, I wish there was a huge online community up loading their custom settings. Heck if there is one, let me know please!
Iv played on one of these and the sound is Stella
venom663 *stellar*
So marketing people aside.
10 steps to perfection..........
1. Open box
2. Set on the floor
3. Plug in and play
4. MEH
5. Place amp at eye/ear level
6. Plug in USB and open the editor
7. Select Mini
8. Crank up the gain and volume (guitar output at 1/2)
9. Play with the compressor
10. Be amazed!!!!
My ears are ringing. This thing is amazing.
Sold at blues junior sound. That is just amazing
I can tell from this video that this Yamahaha combo would be ideal for recording and better than all these boutique tube ones probably.
Most of the pedals work just fine in front of it,including fuzz.I use it for small gigs. The phones out is working as a line out,no distortion or any problems.Plug into PA or acoustic amp, and there you go.I use Kustom sienna 30 for that matter, and I'm very pleased with results.
OWNER OF A LONELY HEART!
Btw I use the c and put in the fender setting. Clean. N then use different distortion pedals. Or add fuzz to the British gain model because it's not a high gain amp. If u want that go for the other 2.
You have to go to the audio interface setup and enable all 4 input channels of the amp's audio interface. You have THR Left & Right channels and THR DI Left & Right channels. Then, it's just a matter of choosing the right source for each track. Sounds like you're recording the DI channel at the moment. Hope that helps.
My search for the perfect home practice amp is over!
Just bought the THRC and I'm am soooooooooooooooo pleased with it! I tested it in the shop with a tele with noiseless pickups because I'm installing that on my own tele. I really, really liked the sounds and that respons, stunning! So I bought it, took it home and since my tele are at the luthiers I plugged in my Gretsch 6120........ My god!! This is really my favourite-amp now! I also tried to send signals from the headphoneoutput and in to a Bose L1-compact. With small adjustments on the thr it really sounded great!!! So yes this amp are really worth every penny!!!!! :o)
+Bjørn Tore Bystrøm i do the same) i have the "regular" THR, and i also plug it into home-hifi stereo, sounds absolutely killer! Best suggestion i can give you, is to plug it into the pc and edit your sounds via editor, you an change the cabs and that literally transforms the sound..
I have done that and made many of my own settings to the amp. A headphonesoutput will never be the best output for "true" guitarsignal but it's working quite good as a substitute for putting two mics in front of the amp. :-)
+Bjørn Tore Bystrøm I sit in with some friends at a club on a few songs..I'm looking for option other than carring a amp....
guitarslinger319 I think THR can be a good option if it's possible to either put mics in front of it or you can connect to a mixer. Or else there are also a good replacemt for an amp to use Amplitube on your iPhone or Android-phone and connect it to a mixer.... But of course nothing beats "the real deal" ;-)
Is your thrc capable of reaching Van Halen level gain?
Hi Jimbo5924, I can assure you this recorded directly into our computer via a Focusrite Interface, No PA or Amp were used to fatten this up in any way. Tim
Hey man, making a trip to Seoul soon. Going to try and find one to check out! :-)
Yep thats right, We recorded the audio in Stereo.
He is good at keeping a very intense eye contact while playing licks.
Holy christ...this thing is incredible.
What would it be like putting a bass guitar through it and could it be hooked up to a cab? I think the possibilities with this amp could be endless...
Wouldn't a standard THR10 be the best option if you wish to bring some additional Boss distortion into the mix?
whatever your puttin those amps through they sound real nice
i want one if the price is right
there great
Yes. You can also Google "Yamaha THR10C" for all the goods.
this amp is greating for playing in a little room and because it has a very low price but a good quality
Yea Jordan. I don't have a choice at times. So I'm stuck not playing at all. So I thought this would be a good idea. Ps the manager will be living underneath me as well. Also I must add I'm pretty considerate but in the years I've lived here not a lot of others are. I would love to just use my regular amps.
Does the Yamaha guy have his own channel? I really would like to hear more about the technical software side of this amp software. It was actually really interesting!
Everything that say here is true, I have had the THR 30. The look of it, the sounds great, the idea I can just pick it up an go is great. Now however it’s all changed again. I’m getting guitar lessons, now with the Covid legislation in the U.K. the worlds changed and I can’t sit in the garden. ;( But what I can do is pop it in a little bag and take it to the park. Yamaha didn’t plan for this world but my god they should push the pluses now. Musicians can’t play live now, signings bad for your health (apparently), so what to do is simple, practice, sit on a mountain and play this MF as loud as you can. Music is a gift from the universe, what you do with it is your gift back! Note, if there was one thing I would love, it’s a looper built into it, if I was being picky, the ability to sing through it would have been nice. All in all though, it’s truly great!! It’s a classic, as a side note (and genius) when you look at it it’s got a warm orange light on it, I picked it up and walked past a mirror, it was like looking at a musical camp fire.
Thumbs up for a direct link to the product on the andertons site
Great Demo of the amp , , just a quick question from a novice , why is the Gain constantly on ?
The Cap'n looks either really tired or sooooooo Bored. Love the videos!
00:00 to 09:05 was like "Okay, stop talking and start playing!!!"
but then at 09:06, I was so surprised at how this amp sounded so good!
Would love to see this thing with XLR outs so I could go straight to a house PA. Those 3 inch speakers are bound to drop at least some of the low end.
The headphone jack doubles as line out, so you can go straight to a house PA.
With that size of speaker, will it sounds not as full as an 1x12 speaker?
I love the baby-making stare Julian gives The Captain at 16:15.
He does it through the whole video :L. The Captain is so awkward because of it :L
loving the THR10C, great suprisingly good tones. Has anyone had their power on/off toggle switch go loose? Mine's actually swivelling around in the socket now, looking at taking it back
never had problem like this, works everything perfect. fantastic amp, im fall in love with this
There are some bits of guitar playing at 9:00 and again at 15:30. The real playing begins at 19:45. Still more talking than playing, but at least they demonstrate some of the amp models.
Yamaha did u change the noise gate placement? Changing speaker simulator without a need to hookup USB would be good (push two buttons) the aux in needs more bass post eq via USB would be good too I will most likely get this one as I'm very happy with the original 10
I like the wall behind them.
Shit that thing sounds amazing!
I wish they would offer the Pacifica 611 he's playing here in the USA. That's a killer guitar. I think I need to schedule a business trip overseas. :-)
One minor detail about the Tap Tempo .
The tap tempo also sets phaser . After settling up Waylon Jennings style very slow phaser , it sets the same tempo for the tape echo .
And until rewatching this , I just assumed the Tape Echo feature was for crap , and just not any good .
So I guess I'll have to expend one preset just for Waylon , then re tap to get functional delay .
can you have the twin reverb preset from the original thr also on the thr10c ?
sounds a lot better than the katana in my opinion
no question
looking at digital amps this sounds quite surpring
i could dig that me thinks
It's A Good Amp & All... But Does The Master Volume Go Up To 11?
these things sound awesome... ive played through the original thr and sounded amazing. The thing is it didnt "feel" quite like a tube amp would... for me I think the excelsior is more up my street in the range... great concept though
I'd love to have some sort of reamping feature though... Either through a plug-in (powered by the amp's dsp or native using the thr as a dongle) or some ability to digitally route the DI track back through the amp (as a guitar source, not aux source). Is this possible or will it be? Anyone know? Thx.
I think the design are made for home jamming.. Two smaller less efficient speakers spread apart for stereo effect.. To get the same refined sound, dual speaker setup, at stage volume i think you would need a lot more than 30 watt.. More like 2x50 watt.. And the interface and EQ must be different when going to larger speaker with a completet different EQ range.
Can you get a footswitch for this amp.
hey ide say they are already out ... as my local music store had like 10+ of the THR10C ... as well as the others (i live in canada btw if that helps)
I got THR10 recently, maybe two hours of playing. It's incredibly good. Is it as reactive as a real tube combo? I can't tell, really. I have a very reactive tube amp for comparison, but whenever I try turning both on and start switching my cord from one to another I keep getting lost in the sounds and simply forget to do anything, and just play.
Get it. THR10 has killer sounds, and covers more bases, so I recommend this one if you can't decide.
Love this amp, but the AC input socket is very fragile (mine broke after a few months)
Yeah, it can rock out. I took my THR10C to band rehearsal, and it did fine. Only problem is the small speakers, so sounds best in front of it. As you move to the side it loses tone, especially bass.
So, what I get from this, is that the presets are cross-compatible? Like, if someone has the normal THR10 and a friend has the X or C version, we could still exchange presets, right?
I have one. It's a great amp. i use the USB interface and SW as an AMP sim in my DAW for both Guitar and Bass.
Hell yeah, he´s got that shit out of that box
I love the look people give when they play a lick which is meant to illustrate what they are talking about - like they are speaking though the guitar lol
What are the chances of a firmware update for existing thr10 owners?
Does anyone know if firmwares are interchangeable between the three models?
What pedal(s) is he using? Those sounds are great!
that dude is intense
mate are you tellin me that amp sound is coming out of its own box
and that you can also put it through a cab 16 ohms
When will the new model be available in the States?
i WAS LOOKING AT THE FENDER BLUES AMP ....but wonder now should I just go for this as it was mainly for home practice anyway but love the fender tweed sound.
jadonx yes go for this mate! I’d go for the C
thank you very much that was the next question C or not!
Really digging these THR amps at the moment, particularly the THR10C. Does anyone know whether you can use the software shown here to access the other amp models from the THR10X and the original THR10 if you have the 10C? I prefer the lower gain amp sound, but it would be nice to have the option!
Not sure about having access to the amp models featured in the other THR10s, but you can definitely tweak tone via the supplied computer software supplied. I arbitrarily pulled up amp effects that I liked and saved the settings into the preset buttons.
Great review! Can I play an acoustic guitar on it?How will it sound? Thx.
curious if you get a power supply in the box?
This guy can play the guitar
Plus I want that t-shirt
Does Cubase come as a demo or full version?
It's a nice Amp!
I wish a more powerful YAMAHA Amp for gigs including these technic.
+Tom Clock just get the THR100HD..
+Pe Peroni, thanks! I still found my perfect amp: Palmer FAT50
Best ss amp in the world.
