- Free will is an incredible gift from God that we often underestimate. We truly get to make a choice in every decision that we come across-even the smallest decisions. But guess what we DON'T get to choose?
The consequences.
Today, Fr. Mike reminds us that every action has a consequence built into it. So, if you want a certain result, make a choice. If you choose sin, you get sin. If you choose God, you get God. The choice... is yours.

I learned the hard way many times but I know that the Holy Spirit always guides me and will guide us all!
I have difficulty being happy and finding my purpose in life. I have times of lows and highs. I feel I'm doing something wrong constantly and I'm offending God, yet I'm trying to serve Him. Please pray for me friends that I am able to serve Him.
Seek the gift of fortitude. That is being accepting of everything in your life, even the obstacles. I am asking the Holy Spirit to also help me with this gift. Know you are not alone. Go to Adoration and you will find JOY! Lots of LOVE and prayers to you dear friend.🥰❤️🙏

@@dawnmegic5774I pray for it. I don't think I have the virtue of fortitude. I used to be brave, but at 50 and fighting obstacles all the time, I am a coward. Mistakes, aiming too high, pride? I don't know, but I feel weak and fearful and pathetic.
@@thisgirl5933 I can relate to you my dear. I too have had many obstacles come in my path lately. That is all the more reason to TRUST JESUS 100% and pray for HIS WILL BE DONE, not yours!

I know all to well, that there are no rewards for sin. Up until 2015, had no faith in God, nothing at all. That summer, I'm not sure about it, but I was being yanked to attend church at one of the Catholic Churchs where I live. So I started attending, then I started realizing that was where I belonged. That fall I went through RCIA, found my faith, and was baptized and confirmed Catholic in the Spring of 2016. Then The Lord opened my eyes to a darkside that exists within martial arts, that a lot of effort is put in to hiding, so he pulled me out of martial arts. Still I resisted and said no to him, not realizing he was tugging and yanking on me. Come 2020 or was it in 2021, during the pandemic and after I don't recall how many confessions, I finally started praying the Rosary. I thought at times, that The Lord wanted me to try and be a Deacon in the church. I was wrong on that, in 2022, I started going on retreats to a Benedictine Monastery that is about 3 hours from where I live, and now in 2023, and I have been praying about and continue to, The Lord has revealed to me, that he has told the monks at that Benedictine Monastery to admit me as a monk, and continues to get me ready for when it comes time for me to make the vows. If I had known, in my younger days, even back in the 1990's that being a monk is what The Lord had in his plan for me, I would have prayed about it and pursued it a long time ago. In closing The Lord didn't give up on me, despite me having for a long time before this said, no to him in some way or another. I urge people to regularly go to Confession(The Sacrament of Reconciliation), and prayerfully consider what The Lord may be calling you to.

Yes. You are free to do whatever you want. Except you can't choose what you want.
When I realized there were unexpected consequences for my actions, I wished I would have been raised Catholic so I wouldn't have had to learn the hard way with some of the lessons.

@@elenag2965 I am Catholic now, I went to RCIA classes and am now baptized and confirmed. I still wish I had been brought up this way so I could understand it better and I could have avoided a lot of things I brought on myself by not knowing how to be but it is what it is I suppose.

Not only that, God, doesn’t remember any of it, any more. If God, doesn’t remember them, why should you? God be with you! And welcome home!
“No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9, 62) Don't look back for too long. The choice is now as much as there's still some time left.

No one would choose sin if it wasn’t hard not too. Being good when it’s easy, does not get you to heaven. You got to choose God when it’s hard. It’s the only way to Eternal life.

I literally was prompted to read Romans chapter 1-15 yesterday in Adoration and it talked about this type of stuff in a beautiful breath taking kind of way! Part of it said "God is kind, so as to lead you to repentance." Romans 2:4 And i was like....WOW 😮🥰

There's a lovely song we sing at mass here "jetzt ist die Zeit, jetzt ist die Stunde, heute wird getan oder auch vertan..." meaning (simplified) "now's the time to act, or fail". We choose what we do with the time God gives us. Either to glorify him or to fail him and grieve his Holy Spirit.
This was the topic i taught with my 5th and 6th grade Cathechism class tonight.
It's important to find the grace. God is always to hear us. He love us.

The consequence of having a batman bandaid would have eased your suffering.
I did not choose to break a foot; the consequence is how you feel to how your band aid changed your healthy look; if that was what was the "real" concern; because: people will then worry.
My vanity problem; - when I complained to my gym friends; the wife has a polio foot: I complained that one ankle looks less elegant; - as the other is artistically made by my Creator. Now was I vain? Yes because: her husband tactfully said: well at least you do not have one ankle so, large that; it's so obvious.
He demonstrated with his hands; - the proportion of an elephant foot. His wife has a foot slightly deformed from polio; and it is shorter too; and she wears therapeutic shoes. You can't hardly tell that her foot is deformed; unless she points out certain features; of lesser muscle tone; even her calve too.
She had a major operation in her thirties; very painful too.
However, I think that you had a skin disease; and that was NOT to remain.
My joke: So, the batman band-aid does not cure.
The operation cures; lifting out the disease; - rather than put a batman band-aid over it. Just the same as when I broke my foot; I needed to go the get an operation; it would be foolish to NOT get therapy; to learn to walk again; or worse; to refuse to get an operation.
As for the skin disease; my mother had it for years; and then she died; a very painful death.
Just like my friend with Polio getting corrective surgery.
Consequences is NOT to cover up the disease with a band-aid; like polio, my ankle or my mother's skin disease. Your situation required a doctor; so you are not telling us; to not scare us. But I know about skin. I have to watch what I eat; - gluten sensitivities.
The consequences were beautifully explained; but I know you said it in a certain way; to keep us from being worried. Well, I had to tell you; DON'T WORRY. WE ALL HAVE TO GET AN OPERATION SOMEDAY. BUT WE HAVE TO THINK OF OUR SPIRITUAL CONSEQUENCES; TO WHY: I KEPT EATING PIZZA EVERYDAY; AND BREAD EVERYDAY; AND SPAGHETTI AND ITALIAN FOOD EVERYDAY; AND ALL THE GLUTEN RUINING MY SKIN. THAT WOULD BE MY FAULT; AND A SIN. Also, sin has portals.

How fortunate you are that your sister could take care of that problem for you. I am sure she did not want to frighten you by telling you what it could’ve turned into. Yes, you were inconvenienced for a few days. But had she not removed it had it not bothered you enough to have her remove it you might have found yourself in a pretty serious problem. Paying a huge price for offenses i alone chose to harm another person …….. God what I was doing more than once wasn’t working for me…….forever I will,regret the offense until I’m worthy of forgiveness from the Lord and whom I offended….

Whatever sin you commit regularly, try to pray daily and use your best judgment to avoid it. They say change the people you surround yourself with, things, and change the places you go.
I carry a heavy burden of shame from various sins from gossip, lying, etc.

Honestly I feel every day it becomes harder and harder to make any choice, especially when surroundings and circumstances are not supportive for making really Holy choice. What should I do?

Surround yourself in the Church, our community. Be with supportive people, good role models. Read the Bible and continue to pray.
This is so timely with the ending of attack on Titan. I won't go into spoilers. But it left me feeling sad. Plus a friend and I had been wanting to "get that show over with" so we could repent and turn to God. I know that is a very risky mentality. But thank God we are still here, and I can leave that show behind and choose God, choose life, and leave that sadness behind!

Mercy is not self pity or the pitying of others while believing they no longer have the need for personal boundaries which they have the right to set for themselves. Instead of for example them living in an institution where there is no door to their room whcih they cn shut to be alone when they want to.

Could you cover men's veiling? I know it used to be a thing but I find it interesting why it stopped? I think women stopped in 1980-s but that was more of a "sexual revolution" thing, and then it sounds like the church wanted to stay popular, rather than it actually being redundant due to some type of evolution (e.g. not celebrating Shabbat as Christians due to the "natural evolution" of Christ's coming)
