- Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI) of Phoenix, Maryland, USA (acting as Explosives Subcontractor to Main Demolition Contractor, Jackson Demolition Service, Inc. of Schenectady, New
York) performs the preparation for and successful explosives felling Units #8, #9 and #10 Hung Boilers, Unit #10 SCR, and the 270’ tall Vent Chimney located in Parrish, Alabama on September 9, 2021.
The drone footage keeps getting better and better. Interior shots looked really good.
The production value of your videos is almost as awesome as your detonations!!! You guys are really stepping it up recently.
I've been watching CDI videos for years mostly from UA-cam but other sites as well. But using a drone takes us to the next level.
Beautiful drone work! Thank you for bringing that over here!
And the coal dust explosion fireball was epic.
Most likely residual coal dust from the bunkers and coal handling areas that was released as the bunkers and building disintegrated in the demolition. If there is a spark in the area when the air/dust ratio is right, it makes a nice fireball as we see here.
Correct.
The same thing happens in grain elevators, flour mills and sugar refineries when flammable dust contacts an ignition source. Pretty much takes a job away from CDI when it does!
I thought maybe a movie crew was there filming the demolition to use in a movie with all the big fireballs.
Cool! The fireball from the coal dust certainly put this over the top!
Beautiful demolition, the flammable air/soot explosion was a nice touch!
That boiler was explosive!
Nice to see the boxed in cutting shaped-charges initially. This was delightfully spectacular as well as nicely executed :)
Seeing all those cutting charges on all the posts at ground level . . . Oh yeah, this is going to be spectacular
That drone gives an outstanding depiction of the magnitude of the job.
The overflight at the end really looked like a bomb had gone off…
love the new added soundtrack!
Whoever films these demolitions is sooooo extra but I love every second.
Another great video. I like the fly throughs prior to the demolition
That chimney landed with authority
1:22 FIRE!!!
Thanks for leaving all that coal dust in there, made the demolition look way cooler
Was it the aerosolized soot which ignited or was there residual fuel in the lines? Most demos don't have flammable components unless is for a movie shot for dramatic effects.
Probably the coal dust left in the ducts and bunkers that ignited
Certainly one of the more cinematic drops CDI has done!
CDI the BEST in the business!
Another great job by CDI 👍🏻
Extremely good shots, editing and music. Good job!
Top video, I had to watch that one a few times.
One hell of a cleanup and a lot of money in the scrap metal and wiring. Thanks
Really a beautiful demolition! Wow! Hollywood should take notes!
Spectacular! The fly thought at the beginning 👍😎
this channel has become art 😃
Outstanding performance
Fire in the hole!
Literally. 🔥
Some nifty drone pilotage there.
Now pass me the long handled tin snips .
Great intro! Do you guys hire pros to do your vids or do you guys do them yourself? Definitely like if the cinematic intro with the beats. Great!! More please
Well done. Enjoyed it!
*_Was that coal dust that ignited after the kicker charges exploded?_*
I've seen pyrotechnics added for effect, but this didn't look like pyrotechnics. Also, nice intro showing all the charges wrapped in plywood. CDI is always the best of the very best around the world.
I for one would like to see a few column cuts, meaning the ends of the main support columns, inside those plywood boxes you mount around the main columns, where they are cut by shaped charges.
That was quite awesome 👌👏 Personally I would have loved it more as an implosion but obviously the experts do it for a reason 😉😀
It was imploded, Being a coal fired plant, the coal dust ignited into the fireball unintentionally.
Yeah, but it was still cool looking to see that big fireball. Added much more drama to the implosion.😊
Nice job. GABRIEL & Victor
THAT WAS AWESOME!!
That was 🤯. There's fireball during implosion.
Lot's of power plant demolitions. Remember these when your electricity service is only on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. It's coming.
I had the same thought a couple of years ago after an old coal-fired generating station in Florida was demolished. I actually contacted the power company who owned the plant about this, and they replied that energy consumption was down because everything is so efficient these days...meaning users and producers of energy....that the plant was no longer needed.
I found their explanation very hard to believe, and, like you, I think this ongoing destruction of our generation abilities will bite us in the ass sooner rather than later.

@@walterzoomie Thanks for the reply Walter. Very interesting indeed.
What is causing the fireball to appear at 1:21, 1:43, 2:05, 2:09, and 2:26 when the entire structure was demolished?
Mm Many memories there
Is that the coal grinding and metering equipment at 0:54? Did they dynamite it with all that stuff still inside?
Yes
Those are the feeders...they feed raw coal into the pulverizers (that is when the coal is grinded up) I actually worked at this plant till it shut down. This a sad video to watch but a very memorable one also.
Coal dust literally just needs oxygen to combust. Lol nice showmanship!
Nice secondary coal dust explosion!
totally wicked! 👍👍👊👊
Anyone know why the boilers exploded?
Awesomeness!
CDI, Simply the best then there's the rest.
Nice!
What caused all the flames?
I would be in work every day if I did this....
Was the fireball expected or unexpected?
You'd think they could have salvaged more of the equipment from the building rather than just destroy it...
ınsane! 🤯
Nice coal dust explosion to top it off!
I will look for that scene in the next batman movie 🎬.
Cool
Controlled demolitions are better with music
and fireballs. Just saying. 😃
Will they rebuild the plant?
Hung Boilers was my nickname in college
😊
❤😊😮
What was all the fire from?
1:24 OMG w(゚Д゚)w
Nothing like a little flair 😂
That’s a real shame to see more electrical power generation taken offline and replaced with…. Nothing.
Very cool video but disappointing direction this country is heading.
Looks like J.J. Abrams got involved on this one.
😳😚😭😠😱🙏

Weird and pointless to blast a super easily accessible place with machinery (=copper) still inside o.O
First lol
