I too, never thought Jerry Seinfeld was funny. I'm old enough to remember watching his debut on Johnny Carson. I thought to myself, "that's supposed to be funny?". Watching his stand up since then has never changed my mind about his comedy routine. Not funny! Jerry is nothing more than a straight man. Think of Abbott to Costello and Oliver to Hardy. In my opinion, Seinfeld was a hit because the other actors were the real comedians while Jerry played the "straight" man they could bounce their routine off of. Does any fan, of Seinfeld, honestly remember a scene where Jerry was funny by himself? The last couple of years, when writer and co-creator Larry David left the show, it fell on Jerry to come up with the new material. That's when the series started to fall flat and they signed off.
It's become very evident over the years that Larry David was the real talent behind the camera and all of Jerry's co-stars were the talent in front of the camera.
