Unfrosted Movie Review - It's Bad, I'm Super Cereal

- Unfrosted Movie Review - Jerry Seinfeld is back! Teaming up with Netflix to make a brand new comedy about the unofficial creation of the Pop-Tart. Post and kellogg's go head-to-head in this cereal referencing machine called, Unfrosted. Even though it was great to see Jerry Seinfeld doing his comedy on my TV again, it unfortunately falls very short of anything funny. That's a shame.

I'd love to go through and count all the Seinfeld references but I'm way too lazy. I think I'll just sleep under my desk.
So you watched a Netflix movie and yada yada yada it sucked?
Nooo this one REALLY sucked
You don't think he'd yada yada watching the movie?
How apropos that right before this movie dropped Pop Tarts shrinkflated the size and frosting of the tart so much that it falls apart instantly out of the package. Give it a few months and they’ll offer an “XL Pop Tart” that is just essentially an original size Pop Tart at twice the price. Bite me Pop Tarts!
"Back when i used to enjoy things".
I feel you man.
Looks like you ain’t getting a heart that easily bub.
didn't crack a smirk the whole film.. entirely let down.
The funniest thing is that Kelloggs had no collaboration or even knowledge that this movie was being made.
Yes, it's even funnier that Jerry has gone public multiple times saying he doesnt care if he gets sued, because that would be hilarious to him for making a movie out of Poptarts.
@@Dartanyoogles Not only did Kelloggs "not sue", they made a deal with him and even printed special packaging.
Whew.... This is one of those movies where I could tell by the trailer that it's awful. And I'm a Seinfeld fan as well.... Not that there's anything WRONG with that...
For me the 'Taft party suit' summed this movie up. Bizarre reference to a President from 110 years ago
Almost as though Jerry is a completely out of touch 70 year-old now.
@@DABA2024 was he ever really 'in touch' or was it just Larry David who was
@@leejam5268 it was Larry
@@James-hd4ms It sure was. Watching some of Jerrys pre Seinfeld stand up, and he was pretty average
Nice reference to the show “not that there’s anything wrong with that!“
Columbian sugar dealer? They went to Puerto Rico, he was Puerto Rican. Btw, I'm a huge Seinfeld TV show fan. I couldn't even finish Unfrosted, I agree it was painfully unfunny.
Like the seasons of Seinfeld without Larry.
@@DABA2024yeah, it's become pretty clear who the mastermind behind that show was.
And the sugar kingpin was a play on the Bay of Pigs crisis
If you're having meetings for making a movie and you define the target demographic as "people over 60", you should probably reconsider.
Or people obsessed with cereal. LOL!
Jerry gave me some of the best parts of my childhood, he will always have my love for that.
“Jerry gave us 9 great seasons of ‘Seinfeld.’”
Well…7.
Larry David was there for 7 seasons. Coincidence?
@@gustavoflorio5383 nope, david left earlier than that.
You could’ve saved yourself a lot of time and effort telling us how bad it was by just saying “Amy Schumer”
...AND Melissa McCarthy. 🤢 Eww.
@@erickirkwood458They're nothing alike comedically.
@@rinnypink You may be right... But in my opinion, neither of those two women are funny.
@@erickirkwood458I think Melissa McCarthy is one of the funniest people on earth. She's also a genuinely good actress. Amy Schumer is a gross-out comic who plays one-note. Nothing alike.
Melissa McCarthy isn't "funny" at all. She's there to sell movies by appealing to obese soccer moms who love her.
It sounds like Jerry made this movie purely for the enjoyment of things he likes, not caring how many liked the plot, like cereal as much as him, the casting, too much to fit in 90 minutes. Basically not caring to follow basic rules for directing a decent movie at least. If he were a relatively unknown comic without a billion dollars, i bet he would have cared more, but he is known and is worth a billion and just wanted to have some fun. If he achieved that, it was a success and he'll still be able to pay his rent.
It’s a completely self indulgent vanity project, he made this with an audience of one, himself. Even worse than Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, where he got the chance to show off his expensive car collection but at least the people being interviewed were entertaining.
So Seinfeld is not master of his domain?
He's Out!
I may be jumping the gun here at only 1:44 into the video but uh.... Did Jerry just take a drunk history episode and turn it into a movie?
It's not gonna be good without Jason Ritter 🤷♀️
"Drunk History " is exaggerated, but largely true.
This movie is just an attempt at comedy.
Interesting why he'd do this film and have it be so bad. Great review!
I appreciate all your Seinfeld-isms in the review Adam. Funny..😂
Basically, I agree. But Snap, Crackle, and Pop also did duty as the honor guard at the funeral.
I'm also a Seinfeld fan but totally agree, this movie was just kind of weird. I couldn't figure out who this movie was for? Its this weird middle ground where its too inappropriate for kids, but also way too goofy and silly for adults to find it funny. The baby ravioli being a great example of that lol like wtf who is that for here? Kids who dont understand any of the references in the movie anyway?
80k! Congrats man!
Thanks!!
Great review very clear points you made compared to some other reviews which didn't explain why they thought the movie was bad. It sounds like it was just too crowded with too much stuff going on. Less is more.
Unfrosted is one of those films you have to see to believe.
I've only saw a few episodes of Seinfeld that I have forgot so I will only ever know Seinfeld through "Unfrosted" that's assuming I ever watch it.
Unfrosted is a series of site gags and jokes with references to the 1960's.
The story of the cereal wars and Pop Tart could be made into a good movie. But with a different script,
Too bad this didn't deliver.
I made it 30 minutes in, paused it to go to the bathroom. Forgot I was watching the movie and did something else...
The moment I saw Jerry Seinfeld and Melissa McCarthy were in this I knew enough. This movie was not gonna be good at all and probably not even funny. Sure seems I was right based on the reviews I've seen
Would the guy who voiced Tony the Tiger be the same guy in the Tony the Tiger suit???? I don't think so...
Very good review, keep it up, looking forward to your next one.
Spot freaking on! I checked out when Amy Schumer waddled on set. Thanks for watching the whole thing.
Congratulations on 80K!!!
Thank you!!
I'm glad you did this video. I was hoping you would, WHILST WATCHING this movie, it was that bad.
About a dozen times a line from Jerry or Jim Gaffigan made me chuckle, but apart from that it was all eye rolls and head shakes. The eye rolling was the campy background music, head scratching story editing, and what looks like the first or second take always being "good enough" for Director Jerry. I could just see him many times saying something like, "That was fine, let's just move on. It's Netflix."
The head shaking started up in the second half of the movie when I continued to get bombarded by cameo roles. Its almost as though some sort of "it can't tank my acting career if literally everyone is in this movie" strategy was in place.
At one point I thought, "this is as bad as the new Matrix," and I haven't had that thought one time since seeing the new Matrix. A movie so bad I searched the internet immediately after watching, so I could find someone who hates it as much as I.
And that was the day I found this channel.
I could eat Golden Grahams every day of my life they haved to be chilled first in a freezer
Totally agree and didn’t enjoy this movie much at all aside from “oh another popular comedian that I’ve enjoyed or seen around before” Their one liners may have been the only time I gave it a weird wtf chuckle. I think Jerry is getting a little too much credit for Seinfeld though. I too enjoyed Seinfeld but never enjoyed his stand ups personally and this movie solidified my personal opinion that Jerry Seinfeld just road the coat tails of Larry David.
Agreed I’m a millennial mid 90s and it went over my head completely not even sure what the plot was just stopped watching
I watched this with my parents and yeah - it was awful.
😂 i just made it to season 8 on Seinfeld. I love the references
I gave the movie 15 minutes before I had to turn it off. It definitely was not for me
Larry David want around to hold him up.
You're about to hit 80K subs!
Thanks Jennifer Lopez! My two videos on her shitty recent movies drove about 1k new subs!
New quotable line: "those were the good old days… When I enjoyed things". Great delivery! Gold!
And yes, this movie stunk like a loose turd.
Fuck, I love the dentist! That sound in my head of metal scraping my teeth, oh HELL YA! Every four months because of my age?! THANK THE GODS!
Going to the dentist sucks.
DeathBlow II: Unfrosted
I'd rather see a woman's strange, erotic journey from Milan to Minsk.
I love "Seinfeld" but this movie is horrible. Even more confirmation that Larry David was the real genius behind that show.
ouch thats gotta hurt
Sounds like this movie plays out like a shaggy dog story that's not amusing.
Bill Burr needs a standalone JFK movie!
Just saying!
I was interested in this because this could be an interesting story about Kelloggs and Pop products and while I respect that Jerry Seinfeld made a movie, this movie wasn't all that funny.
I loved Unfrosted and it's honestly baffling to me the bad reviews this movies gets. I've watched it twice since it came out and I can barely sit through one viewing of most movies these days.
The end of the vid 🤣 fuckin Adam 😂
It's bad? I'm super cereal? If the movie is as dumb as that joke then I won't be watching it 😭
Damn, take it easy, it was just a silly parody movie they didnt try to remake the friggin Godfather
The dream team was a play on the atomic bomb team
Hey don't forget the Carvel ice cream guy! Another taste pilot that actually had something to do with food, but I agree with you this movie was horrrible after the first half-hour.
It’s a perfectly enjoyable light fare movie.
saw the poster and knew it'd be garbage. Jerry isn't funny imo and he has Schumer and McCarthy in it a trio of actors despised only missing brie Larson and jared Leto lol
Unfrosted...unlike your hair...which is frosted😂
Looks like you ain’t getting top-comment that easily Mac…
I just tried to watch it earlier today...I made it about 30 min in before turning it off. I would also like to note that I'm easily entertained by stupid shit, I'm a Real Housewives and Tubi movie aficionado if you will and I thought this was terrible.
It’s almost worth joining Netflix just to see that all singing finale 😫
"joining" Netflix?
That's a creepy way of putting it.
Personally I just subscribe.
I didn’t like almost all of it. I’m with the critics. What I did like: Walter Conkite was pretty good. JFK was funny. The full cereal honors scene was so bad it was good. If the whole movie was like that, it might have worked.
If its a netflix movie its a non starter or a netflix tv show its a non starter anyways. I've put all my beans into a pile and pushed those beans into the peacock app. I get fatigue from Netflix.
The funniest thing about this movie was Bill Burr as JFK. However, it was just the right amount of time. Any longer it would have been overdone.
Idk. I laughed a lot, but I could tell it needed editing. Usually directors don't film every brainstormed idea. This seemed as if ALL ideas ended up in the show--great, weak, meh, bad or hilarious. I guess I don't expect much so I wasn't disappointed. hardy any comedies are all that funny so Unfrosted doesn't deserve to be picked on. I also think it helps to be a Baby boomer. So much humor required one to be there as a kid not merely studied or appreciated decades later with reruns.
Seinfeld was a funny show because it was a collaboration between a lot of funny people, the keystone being Larry David. It wasn’t the All Jerry Seinfeld All the Time Singing Dancing Variety Hour, which appears to be what happened here. If anything, I hope this movie makes people appreciate the rest of the Seinfeld writing staff more and understand that Jerry is not some comedy messiah who can do it all.
Bill Burr as President was the best part
It sounds like he loaded up the cast just to throw some work to his friends.
Yeah, I lasted about 1/3 of the way through and there wasn’t a single laugh. FYI - that’s how you can tell if something is funny. If it makes you laugh…it’s funny.
Big Seinfeld fan here of course also but wow this was weak, couldn’t get past first half hour. Nice job recreating the era and visuals and that’s all that was done well.
I can't stand people that say that can't get past a ,"certain amount of time." That's like saying, "I read something for 29 pages and then closed the book," You don't know a goddamn thing about anything unless you finish it. Multiple books, shows, movies, ect, get better or worse throughout their runtime, and you don't know what is going to happen unless you finish it. Yeah is just how entertainment works.
@@DartanyooglesI mean, yeah that's true. But sometimes you can absolutely tell the quality of something by the first half hour. Sometimes within the first few minutes you can tell if something is crap.
Love all the Seinfeld references!
I’m sure you did. Good consumer.
This is what happens when Jerry writes without Larry David
Sadly that's the first thing I thought I've seen Jerry's writing without anyone else and he really needs Larry to add in some coherence
@@stonerbaby895 I agree. The whole film seems to have been Jerry and company in the writers room going “Oh wouldn’t that be funny? Or wouldn’t this be funny?” Without any one of logic in there to limit what does or does not make it to the Final Cut.
Yeah … I agree it had some good ideas but not a lot of laughs. It was all just a bit silly.
netflix needs to regroup or something with greenlighting these movie
But my favourite wasp schmoopie was in it!
A devote fan of everything Jerry does except this. I even read his book and that was the 2nd book I ever read front to back and I’m 46. This was really not the great or funny unfortunately. It was wonka-ish/clue/jumani ish characters but in a bad way.
I didn't know Melissa McCarthy was funny till I saw her in SNL.
Why does she make such unfunny movies? ..the Woman is a Scream.
Jerry, ‘the Left’ and ‘woke’ aren’t ruining comedy. You’re an out of touch boomer. You’re the equivalent of what Red Buttons was when ‘Seinfeld’ was number 1. This movie proves it.
Yay Adam!
I agree. This movie is an overkill with all the cast and plots. I couldn't finish it:/
I mean... You already mentioned what's wrong in the intro: partnering up with Netflix. Netflix is just as shit at making any series and/or movies as mainstream Hollywood. They made a handful of first seasons that worked, like the first season of Orange is the new black (but that's because it was based on the novel) or Stranger things. But that happens 20-30% of the time of whatever they release, that's just bad odds to sustain a company that makes a lot of money from their subscriptions, because it doesn't compel people to keep their subscription.
So... Really, that was failure pre-programmed.
Netflix wasn't why this was unfunny, though. Netflix pretty much gives their creators free reign. Jerry made the movie the way he wanted, and it wasn't good.
I cringed so bad I had to make a dental appointment 😬
It's unfortunate that the movie sucks, but it's been nice to see Seinfeld on various podcasts recently, because he's generally a pretty private person. He was just on Neal Brennan's podcast and Bill Maher (and maybe some others that haven't been released yet).
Exactly! That's been the best part of it all. I love hearing Seinfeld talk about his approach to work and creativity.
This guy here gets it!👏🏿👏🏿
Damn dude! I thought it was hilarious.
...that's a shame.
Unfrosted, more like Unfocused am I right?
Can't stand constant seinfeld quoting after enduring it with an ex over a decade. No offense, just ptsd from too much Seinfeld.
Though for some reason even though I liked the show alright when it was on I have never once wanted to revisit it.
It sounds like something with very little international appeal.
Sounds like something with very little appeal at all
The trailer makes it look great, but every review is brutal. I'm thinking that a lot of the bits in the movie were made specifically for the trailer. I'll pass.
I have never seen so much comedic talent wasted in a single movie and I have watched all the Police Academy flicks!!
Hilarious! But It's Schmidt, not Schmitty.
Yeah, I realized after the fact. Mixed him up with the douchy kids in that episode of Community. They kept saying "Schmitty" over and over.
This movie was soooooooo bad! And not just because of Amy Shumer...
I want to see it.
You lost me when you said you didn't like the Bee Movie
Not 9 fanatic seasons. 7
I was excited about this one. Now, sadly, I’m gonna skip it. What a shame.
The movie is good.
Yes is not a comedy, is more of a parody but is a smart one.
whole heartedly agree, absolute pile of excrement, one of the worst films I've ever seen, good review tho
I confess, I never really got Seinfeld or his sitcom. But I still had hope for the movie. Alas, this was more anemic than weak tea. Jerry has definitely become irrelevant.
From the start i thought, "This is clever, I hope it gets funny."
Clever and funny is a good combination, clever by itself, not as much.
Like many here i got to about the 30 minute mark.
Jerry can write jokes for stand up, and he's great in a collaboration with the right person, like LD.
But in trying to establish himself as the Universal Comedy Man, he's just proving that he isn't that.
Stop trying Jerry, you're ruining everything.
