Its awesome to see all these kayak catfishermen traveling the country, patterning fish, and using unique techniques to consistently catch fish regardless where they go. Looking forward to what you come up with at Sandusky!!!!
Hell of a video man, I have been fishing there recently I am taking care of my mom nearby & I have been fishing it, it's tough from the bank I would love to learn about the lake more if you don't mind. Thanks! Mike. R
Justin thanks for taking us along with you I appreciate it I know it didn't turn out the way we wanted it to but I think its still a good solid finish on a reservoir you had never been on other than your practice time congratulations friend
Justin, you may not have won this tournament but you're more than just a winner in my eyes!! Keep up the good work, keep fishing and keep the video's coming. I Love them, thank you and God Bless you!! ;) 🎣❤🙏
Justin, you have got to win this tournament!!! You so richly deserve this!! You are the greatest catfishing fisherman who ever lived!!! Just win my brother!!!!😊
Great video, Justin! Really like watching you do this. We have a local lake here that has 40+ flatheads, I'd get drug all ove the lake in my little kayak.
Every time I receive a donation or sponsorship for my youth football program, I give them the Ole 👊🏾!!! Keep dropping lines bud!!! Here to keep supporting your channel!!!
Ohio is making a comeback for blues. The State has been taking afew lakes a year and stocking them. Great flatheads in Southeast Ohio. Tappon Lake, Clendening Lake, Salt Fork, Seneca, and the Muskingim River are great flathead waters. The Ohio River is protected where it runs through Ohio and West Virginia but the Kentucky part has been hit hard by commercial fisherman unfortunately. Hope to see a future video again in Ohio. For a Midwestern State Ohio isn't bad for catfishing. I don't think Pennsylvania and Michigan have any blue cats. I know they did stock blue cats this year on the Ohio River where it runs through Pittsburgh hopefully the spill didn't ruin it.
The Mighty Ohio River in KY used to be a beyond incredible fisherie for mondo blues and flatheads. Used to be able to catch a skipjack and lay into a good one. Now u can fish all day and hardly catch a 10 lber. The hoopnetters have ruined the catfishing. The paylakes are cashing in on big profits on big blues and flatheads. Even the skipjacks have went downhill. Every guy that fishes for skipjack will do it everyday, cooler after cooler full. And they sale em to the paylakes. It's disgusting how they're raping such a beautiful fisherie. I wish someone would step in and stop it from happening
@@OhioRiverFisherman yep it's ashamed. That used to be a great area to fish! I hope one day it gets straighten out. I honestly don't see how commercial fisherman are still getting anything out of there.
@Bob Bates I've fished Meldahl Dam going on 38 years and I used to catch 30 lb blue cat and flatheads with no effort. And the bite used to be quick. Now u can fish it for 8 hours and only catch maybe one or 2- 5lb fish. And u can see the hoop nets on the other side of the river. It's turning into the dead sea. And ppl go fish it and u wouldn't believe the garbage that gets left behind. Big wads of fishing line, beer cans, worm containers, bags, etc. It's a damn shame.
Thats nasty weather but in oklahoma the coldest rain and overcast stripers love it find a shad group and just wait for them to feed and throw anything yu got they go frenzy feeding its fun as heck till they stop and when they stop they stop
I'm with you all the way....used to live on nickajack and caught a lot of kitties...now I'm east on watauga lake and harder fish beautiful country though....
Great video!!! If the catfish tourneys work like bass ones you might want to take a picture of a few extra fish incase something turn out wrong on one of the ones you submitted.
Fish the Ohio outside of Ky. waters and no commercial fishing. WV. has put a lot of time and money into their catfish seeding program. A lot of 50 plus lb. flats and bluesare being caught. Hope you make it this way sometime.
I'm glad you were able to compete for some prize money even though you came up just a little short on your total ! It gives me some hope that I can catch quality size catfish in Ohio very near where I live ! I hope you will make a return for next year's event and cash in some prize money ! Your videos never fail to entertain and inform ! 👍👍
Nice tournament for you Justin, sorry you didn't place in the money this time. I hope you decide to participate in future tournaments up here and perhaps I'll get the opportunity to meet you in person. Perhaps a trip to Buckeye Lake is in order. No Blues & no Flatheads to speak of there. However, it's loaded with channel cats 🙂
Ok that's it I'm finally sold on those stingers Justin, being a subscriber I know you catch on them but I'm stubborn but they were clutch for you. You've upped my catfish game brother and I thank you! Oh btw glad you visited my home state, may have to make the hour drive to Hoover.
I wasn’t kayaking yesterday but spent the morning soaked from rain on the boat, dryer clothes and then went back out after 12 and ended the day with all eater sized cats and a nice flat head. (Eaters for me is 5-20#) Also, can you do a video on how you have your rods set up? Like line and everything? I know you use sumo cat rods. Been trying to figure out other setups, I have a rod set up with a Abu 7000c3 cat special and a heavy rod set up with CTF big cat rod, 80# braid to a 50# mono leader with a double uni knot. The more I learn the better I become!
It's funny I run the same style rig without the stinger for slow trolling, 2 float rods 4ft deep in the rear and 2 trollers dropped down in the front with a 4oz weight. Caught 1 25 on my down rigged rods a 15 25 and 30 on the balloons. I'll toss a glow stick in the balloons at night just for reference at night, I'm not watching them but I'll look to check my spread and distance
You are by far my favorite catfishing UA-camr. Never in my life did I know about stinger flys, but looks like I might invest in a few now. I know you fish Tennessee a lot, have you ever fished old hickory lake? My dad and I are Bank fisherman due to my disability, but have had a hard time locating quantity and quality of catfish from the bank. Any tips? Keep up the great work!
There are two different types of flathead in smith lake there's appaloosa and what we call a yellow cat I've caught appaloosa up to twenty pounds but the yellow cat gets huge we've caught a seventy six pound yellow but we've also had two two hundred fifty pound nylon cord broken before and six aught hooks broken before
Justin, Former Buckeye now a Tennessee resident for 30 years but I have a question. I have been seeing you use crappie for cut bait several times. I know in Tennessee it states that you cannot do anything to alter the size of the fish while on the water. That's why you can't clean fish until you get to dock. Am I missing something here ?
Ohio has some fantastic catfishing, especially flathead. Idk why that’s a thing that everyone says Ohio catfishing sucks but I’m all for it because it means less fishing pressure for me lol.
Great job! I kind of copied you the other day. I didn’t use a ballon, but I used a softball size bobber with a live bluegill. Didn’t catch anything but, that big ol’ bobber did go under. Man, that was excitin!
In oklHoma the cats go from deel to fhe 8 foot flats ive even caught cats on bottom bouncing cranks they feedi low hitem low stir the mud up rTtletrPs to uci gime a jerk ait
Here in Alabama we have a lake called lewis Smith lake and it absolutely has the biggest flatheads in Alabama but you have to Know how to catch them in the lake because they aren't scavenger fish they are predators so it's not like catching them otherwise they will not eat dead bait whatsoever
How cool your about 40 miles or less in my state ohio im groveport dang wishi knew yu were here id love to meet and see how kayaks set up i didnt know yu had a graph what kind yu usin whers bTtery go in a kayak lol for trolling motor and graph or they seperate and graphs a smaller bTtery

I'm from Sunbury and Grew up on Hoover Resivor. Probably the best Fishing in Central Ohio.
I'm telling you right now, you are going to win this thing!!! Just do it brother!!!
The state has been very successful stocking Hoover with catfish and that reservoir has turned into an incredible catfishing water.
Thanks for giving me hope - I have yet to catch me a catfish on Hoover Reservoir... But I'm gonna keep on trying!
Ohio River awsome for big flatheads in southern ohio into West Virginia we don’t see blues often but catc lot 40s to60 occasional 70 plus
In NC we have to fillet the crappie on size limit lakes to prove we’re not using undersized bait

I’m 15 min in and the umbrella problem just popped up, my advice would be to whip that knife out and shave that’s base down to fit the pvc next time.
I would have whittled that umbrella handle down... Assuming you had a knife for the job. Great video!
That first one is probably one of the oldest blues in there. First stocking was 2010
