Times have changed. In the 90’s and mid 2000’s in the local bass tournaments, when someone won or you won, everyone congratulated each other. We would meet together somewhere and eat dinner and just talk fishing with great fellowship. It stung sometimes to be beat out of first place when you got second but we always showed sportsmanship. I fished a tournament last year and I was shocked how the guys acted. No fellowship or congratulations, it was weird. Just found this channel, subscribed, awesome fishing, thanks!!!!

No one knew it but me; it was my final bass tournament, and was I every blessed that day. 5 at 19+ pounds and big bass of the day with a 7+. Won 1st and big bass and went out with a BANG! 😂 Got my check and hardly anyone said a thing. Went home and stored my gear. In 2016, I went to school for a 100 Ton Vessel Merchant Mariner Captain license and I work on the Lower Mississippi River out of Natchez. 363LMR Neat part is I'm running a 30' crewboat with twin 250's and have a lot of waiting time between jobs, so I catfish. We have huge catfish in this area, of course. I don't have a job tomorrow so I'm going catfishing. It's 10-31. The river is extremely low and the fish are in the channel or near it. Geared up ready to roll. My UA-cam channel is @EddieRobertsRiverGypsy. Right now my Shorts are crew changes to the huge towboats but I am setup to film the catfishing trips now. I'll soon be uploading them. I really enjoy this channel and have learned that I'm doing the right thing, plus I learned a few new techniques. Thanks! We get 100 pounders each year so thats my goal. Great job. Glad to see you doing well in Hoover again. The state is so ecstatic with how Hoover has turned out, they have been stocking blues in about 9 other reservoirs the past few years. Will be some outstanding blue catfishing in Ohio in about 10 to 12 more years. Caesars Creek (about the same size as Hoover but up to 115' deep with lots of standing timber) started stocking in 2018. It will start getting good there in just a couple more years.
I was in the weight division so I was an hour behind you. That bite definitely picked up the last couple hours. I did the same thing you did and scrapped my plans and did a downwind drift. Picked up enough fish to get us third, but we lost a monster at the boat that may have put us over the top. Thanks for coming out and enjoying Hoover. Mike and I worked hard to put the weekend of events together
I've been waiting for this video! I fished in the Hoover Cats tournament that ran concurrent with the king kat. It was a tough day, but some nice fish were caught.
Man I don't know what else to say about bringing #1 and big fish back home to TN. Other than he'll yeah brother congrat. I honestly couldn't be happier for you and the best fishing channel on the UA-cam.

I just want to add one point to add that the event he showed was not 19 anglers. At Hoover we run both the measurement and length division concurrent so there were around 40 teams competing on the water at the time of his video. Everyone was crowded in a small area, which made his catch more impressive. Prior to the event I talked a fair amount of smack about southern anglers fishing up north, which he left out. To date he might own the record for the furthest north a southern angler has been and recorded a tournament win. Good show Justin. I'm sure a couple of our boys like Matt Stewart will come down and return the favor in the next year or two

catfish tournament I enter every month usually has a free breakfast at weigh in.
I bet they did just that after the filming was done. Same guys were alive in those days too. It's the video that gives it a hurried feel.
