    The Evil Offering is a 140mm travel 29” trail and enduro mountain bike, and after spending four months riding this bike in three states, I’ve finally posted my ride review. The bike is good, and provides a great compliment to the other bikes in my quiver (SB130, Ripmo) as well as to what I’ve ridden over the past year.
    Evil Offering frames are IN STOCK now at Jenson USA- and anything you purchase from Jenson will directly help support me in making these videos!!! bit.ly/EvilOff...

      Thanks MC! I just say that as it totally clears the air for me to report as myself and not guess what "most" riders might prefer. The way I ride is really different from the average, and it can mean my opinions are pretty unique.

      I think you're actually a great reviewer because you clearly state your preferences and biases and let the viewer understand your perspective. I'm tired of reading/watching reviewers that claim every bike is "poppy and playful, but still grounded and planted, while climbing surprisingly well before descending really confidently."

    Jeff you're not a terrible bike reviewer... Everyone who reviews bikes are just giving their opinion. There are way too many factors like you said. All reviews need to be taken with a grain of salt. It seems to me people just want someone to confirm their preconceived notions of a bike.

    I disagree - you are an excellent bike reviewer. I don’t buy new bikes often but this year it was time for something new, so I did a ton of reading reviews and found it striking how different sources would use the same language for describing certain bike models. Evil bike reviews particularly suffer from this, to a point where I began to wonder if some reviewers had even tested the bike and I would say this is perhaps the most honest review of the Evil Offering I've come across. What I enjoy about your review style is your ability to cut through the marketing babble and deliver some honest thoughts. Even as far as showing a crash, which some might think would put the bike in a bad light - but of course it doesn’t because as you say ‘rider input matters more than bike design’. Thanks so much mate, its always a beauty watching you ride.

    Hey, that's my bike! (and it isn't green or black. Its charcoal gray 😉) Great review! I went the opposite way with the rebound. This is my 3rd Evil and I've always run the rear pretty fast. With the V2, my rear tire was skipping a lot, bouncing in rocky corners (AZ) and easily getting knocked off line. Speeding up the rebound seemed to make it worse, so I settled on 2 clicks from slow. Seems to have solved my problem without affecting the playfulness. I'm running the Super Deluxe with the MegNeg can, so it isn't apples to apples, and I've recently lost weight, so that might play a factor in why my adjustments needed to change 🤷‍♂️

      Thanks Dan! I retired from racing in 2016, gotta keep that promise to myself! My sprint speed is likely faster than it was while racing, but overall I'm slower since I've bulked up for making videos. 1-2 times a week we'll film, and each filming session needs to get around 50 shots- that's 50 intervals! Gotta do a lot of gym time to stay ready for that. Racing at a high level requires more regular riding and a more lean physique. And it requires taking risks that others aren't willing to- and I'd rather not do that anymore.

Now that just about every single bike in the Jenson catalog is sold out, we gotta chase clicks rather than in-stock product.

    Meanwhile, myself along with several others have been waiting months for their V2 offering since placing orders 😭
    Your notes about the x2 feeling grounded are interesting. Evils are notoriously Poppy, even the reckoning. I suspect the spec'd super deluxe is the ticket if that's what you're looking for.

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed  3 роки тому +1

      You don't think I had to wait for the frame? Haha- I did indeed. And it's the first full suspension frame I've purchased since 2004, so that's saying something too. The Super Deluxe that was on my Mojo 4 felt fine. I did prefer the DPX2 still though. I'd like to get the geometry tweaked with an angleset, as the steep head angle was a lot more noticeable to me than the rear suspension. Heck, I basically made it a shorter travel bike by going heavy on sag just to fix that steep head angle.

    • @ArmorOfZeus
      @ArmorOfZeus 3 роки тому

      @@JeffKendallWeed I here ya my man. One of the reasons I like Evil is they're not super progressive. 66.5- 67 works for me but I'm sold school I suppose. Having the angle set option is kick ass though for guys that wanna go slacker. Those super short chainstays are mint too. I guess I could see it being more agile than poppy in the rear. Have you tried both low and x-low and if so what is your preference? Cheers, Jeff🤘

    • @bobdunahee88
      @bobdunahee88 3 роки тому

      @@ArmorOfZeus It's plenty poppy and agile and you will be very happy. Jeff was running it at 40% sag which basically neutered the rear suspension. Sorry Jeff :D

  • @TheBikeDads
    @TheBikeDads 3 роки тому +3

    Hey Jeff, did you try the bike with less sag (30% range)? I find it changes the rear feel a lot. More than 30 and it kills the pop IMO and makes it prone to bottom out.

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed  3 роки тому +3

      Hey colin, once I get an Angleset I'll try that. The steep head angle was a much bigger buzzkill than the rear suspension. I notice geometry way more than suspension for all these short travel bikes.

      @@JeffKendallWeed Run the bike with 27% sag at the shock. Due to the leverage ratio it will translate to 30% at the wheel. It will POP. Also, X2 is more linear from what I've read - DPX2/SuperDeluxe will probably add to the pop too. Otherwise, review is great + love your riding style.

      @JeffKendallWeed  3 роки тому +3

      Ya Dimitrios, Chris Mandell had a good quote that coils are great if you ride "wheels on the ground", but I am much more of a jumper, so the air suspension suits me better. Those levers are from Flo motorsports. They fold a la moto style. I'll do a vid on those soon!
