Safety is our #1 priority and we want to stress that this adventure, and all future adventures, will be done responsibly and with the health of others in mind. Here are the steps we are taking everyday, including in these videos:
😷Masks and face coverings. We wear these anytime we are near others outside and especially indoors. If we don’t have a mask on in a video, it’s 99% because there was no one around.
⏰ Exploring early. We normally start at sunrise anyway because of less crowds, but especially so with COVID. We have been starting our days before sunlight so we can limit our interactions.
🧼 Washing and sanitizing our hands, especially after touching anything outside of the van.
🚐 Being in the van 95% of the time when we’re not filming. The adventures we share are a small sliver of our lives. We are staying in the van all day everyday when working and the only time we leave is to do laundry, get gas, or go to the store.
6️⃣ Keeping our distance. We are trying to stay at least 6 ft from others, which truthfully isn’t always possible (and then we make sure we cover our face).

I'm sure people in New York city are used to seeing their city in movies and stuff but seeing South Dakota is something special to me.
It seems we are right in the sweet spot to never get on tv because we are just popular enough that we arent used for the middle of nowhere type settings like North Dakota and Nebraska are but not quite popular enough to be chosen for that ether lol.

Blueberry Goat Cheese at Leones is one of their best flavors! Also there is a hike near Deadwood where you can go to the friendship tower. It was a memorial created by Seth Bullock (a businessman on pretty much the entire west side of South Dakota, best known businessman in Deadwood during his time) to commemorate his friendship with President Teddy Rosevelt who founded our National Park System.

Glad you enjoyed the Deadwood area! As a local to the area, I hope you did way more than you showed. There's way more to do than you guys showed, such as when at mount Mariah, you could've gone way up to see Seth Bullock's gravesite, and continued to hike up past the white rock for a phenomenal view. Or gone to friendship tower past The Lodge. There's just so much to do out here, it's mind-blowing. Should you find your way back, you should definitely try Jacobs Brewhouse and Grocer (in Deadwood) for a bite to eat, they just opened up earlier this year, I believe, maybe late last year. Adam likes a little heat, he should try the Texas Twinkies for an appetizer.

Happy Bellies Bake Shop (It’s all gluten free bakery so you both can have anything and everything there! They even make pizza and such on occasion.). 2. Kopp’s or Leon’s for frozen custard (sorry, but WAY better than ice cream!). 3. Lastly, The Milwaukee Public Market. It’s like a smaller scale Ponce City Market 😍

Deadwood used to put on a little play called „The Trial of `Jack McCall“ everyday in the summer. It started on Main Street at the #10 Old Style Saloon with an actor in western dress entering the bar and shooting one of the guys sitting at the round table next to the front door. Guy he shot was „Wild Bill“. Of course this was happening in the middle of the tourist season with 90% of the crowds not knowing what was happening. Then there was a „Trial“ with jurors picked from folks passing on the street. (I was one back in 1976). What fun! They were really celebrating the „Days of 76“ as it was the 100th anniversary when I first visited Deadwood. The town had a different vibe back then…it was way before gambling was legalized. And visitors were just the party hardy types. Hope you managed to see Custer State Park and the CrazyHorse Memorial. Cheers

Those drone shots of the canyon were stunning! ❤️ Loved the water slide too. Fully agree that I'd be a wimp at first, but once you've gone once and you know there's no mysterious rocks lurking beneath, it becomes lots of fun! I spotted in the opening a clips, Kathryn climbing a log ladder - that just brought out a completely forgotten memory for me. It must be Badland's National Park... if it is, I definitely climbed that, 14 years ago (I feel so old when I think that!)

    • @AdventuresofAplusK
      @AdventuresofAplusK  4 роки тому +1

The drone footage in this video is from Spearfish Canyon. But for Custer State Park, according to the SD state parks website website, trailhead signage, and Airmap, it's legal to fly in Custer State Park as long as you're not flying in the Black Elk Wilderness (ex: Black Elk Peak is in the wilderness and therefore not allowed). We always fly legally.

I was actually in deadwood and stayed at the historic bullock hotel. I stayed there because it's haunted. Got to stay in the very room Seth bullock stayed in. Across the street was another haunted hotel although only the ground floor was open as the second and third floors are only open for ghost tours. The hotel I'm taking about is the Fairmont hotel. Ever since I saw ghost adventures halloween special: deadwood city of ghosts. I wanted to stay at the bullock hotel as it was featured in the first half of the special. They also investigated the Fairmont hotel, the original saloon number 10 where Bill hickok was shot and killed. The last place they investigated was the Adam's house. There are two other places in deadwood that are haunted but were not featured in the episode. The Mount moriah cemetery and the Franklin hotel.

Another fantastic entry to your SD series. Your Custer video was how I found this channel. So glad I did as your content is excellent. Great job showcasing a lesser known area of the Black Hills in Spearfish Canyon, or at least in my opinion a lesser known area. Drone shots were epic.
We stumbled on Spearfish Canyon by accident during our Black Hills trip a few years ago. I was under the weather this day and we needed something low key. This was an area we did not yet visit and could just be an east scenic drive with roadside stops. It fit the bill perfectly and was such a beautiful area. We didn’t see Roughlock Falls and only passed through Deadwood but did stop in Lead. There is a really neat mine (gold I think) there that goes down to 8,000’ and you can hit golf balls into the open strip mine part.
As an aside, there is a Devil’s Bathtub as well in southwest Virginia in Jefferson National Forest. The hike is really reminiscent of the one shown in your video. The bathtub is about 8’ deep and crazy cold. Plus the water has a blueish-green hue. Really a cool spot if your venture out that way in the future.

@@AdventuresofAplusK no problem. It’s on AllTrails as well. Two tips. Go early. For being in the middle of nowhere it is definitely not a secret. Second, do not drive your vehicle all the way to the small parking lot right at the trailhead. We were there last summer and the gravel/dirt road had some potholes that could swallow a car. I attempted it but had to drive down a portion of the road in reverse until I could turn around.
