The absolute best time to Ride thru the Black Hills is any time, besides during the Stugis Rally.. You will do nothing but worry about the 1,000,000 other riders.. I hope you enjoy your trip but I would consider coming early, 2 weeks, or come the Last day of the Rally and stay a week late.. Have fun..!..
I really enjoyed your video, and hope you do more! You have a pleasant voice, good information and are very thorough. We really need more videos like this! Thanks for sharing. New subscriber.
Very well done with full of histories and information assembled in one document by you, Kris. you must love this kind of stuff. look forward to seeing more videos from your channel just for learning and possibly for visiting as well.
I appreciate your kind words, Deb :-) Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy my future videos just as much. I enjoy learning about the areas that I travel to!
Dogs are not permitted inside the Mt Rushmore gate but you can still get great pictures from the entrance area. I also always suggest going to Keystone. It’s a great tourist town , get an old time photo taken, buy some Black Hills gold jewelry. Ride the train. Bear country is close as well as reptile gardens. The Cosmos is very interesting for the kids. There are even places where you can ride horses . Enjoy this beautiful part of the state!
Thank you, I was plotting out a road trip in that area and not only did this video point out a few locations I would have missed, but it gave me great insight to some good hiking trails!
Great video, heading there on Sunday from FL. The book of Enoch explains Devil's Tower were really giant trees, it's petrified wood, there were 200 of them, you'd only have to notice it looks exactly like a giant stump and flat on top, and your eyes are not deceiving you, because it is✌️
Very good video! Well put together. We just visited all those places last week. Stunning scenery. Elk, coyotes, yellow bellied marmot, bison, mule deer, Rocky Mtn. Goats, and prong horn sheep can were all observed. I will look forward to visiting again to do some hiking.
Love the video…great info and guide. I suggest turning the music down during your narration and recording your voice in a room less reverberated. With love. ❤
Hi Kris, thank you for this guide! Are the photos featured in the video your own? Do you mind saying what time period you did your road trip during? Thanks!
Thank you, Megan. Some are mine and some are stock photos that I paid to use. I traveled there in November, March, and August. But you are probably wondering about the professional looking photos, lol…
You're welcome and thank you for your quick reply!@@TravelGuidesfromKris I was only curious because it looked like you were bundled and one shot of a mountain goat had snow in it, whereas others did not. But that makes perfect sense if you've visited in various seasons :)
Unfortunately, not everything is going to be open. But I've visited in the winter and still enjoyed Badlands, Mount Rushmore, and the area's scenery. You wouldn't deal with crowds.
I from south Dakota but I always wanted to the towns around the black hills. It's not called devils tower the real name is bears lodge because a 200 foot bear attack some Lakota warriors on the butte. It left its claw marks behind as a reminder.
TIPS 4 TOURISTS U NEED TO HEAR -Don’t be jerks and try to touch get close to our animals, we don’t come to suburbia and climb over your fences and try to pet your dogs. STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE ON THE ROADS! -Did you know that tipping housekeepers is actually really appreciated and traditional?? And do not assume you won’t see the staff, we go to the local restaurants/bars too. Be courteous! -Be sure you check out your surroundings BEFORE you get there! Many places out here do not have 24 hour services. Fill up your gas tanks! -While driving through the parks DO NOT STOP in the middle of the road!!! Many locals are trying to get to work or travel through to the interstate. And stay in your vehicle even if you see a animal! You have no idea how absolutely dangerous that is and what a jerk that makes you! Your pictures are not more important than safety! -Be patient with staff and locals! Staff is very busy and since no one thinks they should work hard anymore we are going as fast as we can! STOP GETTING OUT AND HOLDING UP TRAFFIC! -If you don’t know basic daily tasks then you need to stay home! -Locals are generally very helpful and welcoming, but taking pictures of us without permission is really rude. We are not sideshow freaks! -Remember, being rude to the locals is not a good idea and won’t be tolerated!
Wow! I grew up in South Dakota and enjoy visiting there when I can. While I agree with what you are saying about staying in your vehicle for safety, you could have said this in a much nicer tone. We native folk are kind to the people who visit we don’t need to yell at them before they even visit.
@@stacyfaris281 You sound very welcoming. I think I will move there from California and be sure to tell you all how we did things better back at home. Can’t wait to meet you!!! Any weed dispensaries in town, or drag queen shows for my husband and I to go see? We’re really into that sort of thing. How about charging stations for our Tesla? Thanks!

I am planning almost an identical trip for this summer. How many days did you spend in each place. I imagine Badlands NP will be at least 2 days
Have fun! Sounds exciting :-)
Is October a good time to visit?

60 million acres wow
What’s 69 million acres? I see that South Dakota is 49 million acres.
"Hot Springs"/"Custer"....
Can I buy this video
Hello Jean, please send me an email at travelguidesfromkris@gmail.com. I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
❤
I was planning on visiting, but with Kristi Noem I don't want to end up in the gravel pit
Crazy Horse monument is a tourist joke. I saw it in1974. Last visit was 2010. No real change except shops to sell merch.
