Perhaps the best song ever written about being young, looking at the limited options laid out before you, and thinking, "This can't be all there is. There has to be more out there, somewhere". I've seen him about a dozen times, at least once in every decade since the '70's. 3-4 hours each time with the same energy you just witnessed. I've literally been to hundreds of concerts, and there is no performer who puts on a better show. Bruce personally sits in every section of the arena during sound checks to make sure the sound is as good in the cheap seats (well, the *cheaper* seats), as anywhere else. For a bit of a different vibe, check out The River to see how well he can tell a story.
He is renowned for his lengthy (3+ hours) performances. He always said his live shows are part concert, part revival. This was his breakout album back in the day. His genre is more about working class life and challenges. He has a large acoustic catalog too--those shows tend to be at smaller venues. The sax player (Clarence Clemmons 'the big man') passed some years back. What a collaboration--Bruce always said he was the missing link. 'Born in the USA' is about post Vietnam vet experience. I have been lucky to see him live just a few times over the years--others mark huge number of live shows. Even at his age now--he rocks out and you leave exhausted and happy. People all over the venue are bopping together, regardless of where the seat assignment is. 'Tenth Ave Freeze Out' is another banger live tune.
Fabulous song from Bruce Springsteen, I love it, this song is from 1975, really iconic in my opinion. This performance is absolutely awesome! Other fav songs are 'Thunder Road', 'Badlands', and 'The River' among many others. 😊😊
My first concert of Bruce was in 1988 in Bremen / Germany in the football stadium. It was sold out for two evenings and also all the other concerts in Europe. My concert were 4 hours of pure joy and fun. It was one of the best days of my life. Thank you Bruce.
YES! You reacted to the correct version! Bruce is AMAZING in concert- when you go to a Bruce concert, the audience goes home exhausted after the 3-4 hours of singing and dancing!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼❤️
His concerts are like none other. I saw him again last week in Philly....74 YO and he still rocked out for almost 3 hours without a break. Best concerts I've ever been to. The energy is palpable.
Rush was better. Gheddy Lee a better musician than Springsteen. And drummers.....who in the E-street band even comes close to Neil Peart on a bad day.? Alex Leifson? Better Guitarist than Bruce. The Who vs the E-street band? Who had the better drummer and Bass Player? Led Zepplin vs the E street band? Who had the better singer and guitar Player? Don't get me wrong...Bruce was good....but not in the top 10. The Sex Pistols had more historical impact than Bruce and E-street.....At least they allmost got brought up on Treason Charges for their lyrics. Elvis had more impact.....Throw in Buddy Holly.
I am so glad I got to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in concert a couple times. His live shows are controlled chaos, every person on that stage giving 110%, each song a banger, the audience going insane, and those lyrics? So deep and meaningful. Lastly, RIP, Clarence Clemons. I'm so sad you're not with us anymore.
I've seen him 3 times in 3 different decades. What energy! He loves what he does, and he loves his fans. In the '80's, I saw him at the Capital Center in D.C. and they shut him down at 1 a.m. after 4 1/2 hours. He had no opening act. Everyone danced, it was a real party! Love him.
When he played the Dean Smith Cntr in Chapel Hill I worked at a concession stand. When the concert was over he played another half hour or so for those of us who worked that night. It was AWESOME!
I just watched your reaction to Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run. As someone who is a very big Springsteen fan, I think you touched upon the idea a little. I'm glad you were impressed by the song. To add just a little more color to this song (and I'll try to be objective), obviously the power of the music and the lyrics indicate something that is anthemic. It's a rebel's yell of a song. The writer is telling you that he's living in an area that feels emotionally oppressive ("this town rips the bones from your back"). He feels he needs more out of life, wants more out of life than to be trapped by his surroundings. He wants to take his girl, his love, get in his car and just ride on outta there. He doesn't want to be saddled with whatever darkness has gripped his surroundings. He wants to break free and create something new and wild that represents the start of his own path. When I listen to Bruce, I listen to stories he trying to tell and how he uses music (guitars, piano, drums, and sax) to help illustrate those stories in the orchestration. He's a poet with a blue-collar look at life. If I can suggest... listen to a song called Incident on 57th Street from the Main Point in 1975. Just close your eyes and listen to how the music sets the tone, how it makes you feel, then listen to the imagery in the storytellers words and how the music compliments the story. I'd be interested in your reaction to that!!
Darkness On the Edge of Town is my favorite Springsteen album. Thinder Rosd is his best sing. The Rising is a fantastic aklum and American Skin is a powerful song. Springsteen has provided the soundtrack for most of my life.
Part of this was filmed 1985 LA Collisium...I was there went the first night...so good I told my boss I couldn't work,I had to see the 2nd night!! Saw him 3 times in 2023 ....he is 74 now and still playing an almost 3 hour nonstop show!! He is a treasure in both his music and humanity!
Top 10???? Lets stick with 27. The Sex Pistols had at least 3 songs better than this....one that allmost brought them up on Treason Charges against the monarchy.....will not mention the other 2 by the pistols that were above born to run. Led Zepplin....3 songs I will not mention that were better than Born to run...They Beastie Boys? They had 2 songs that were better....and yes they played their own instruments. The Beetles? Compared to Born to Run....How about "A Day in the Life? Elanior Rigby? She's Leaving. How about Elvis Pressley in the Ghetto? The Beach Boys have at the bare minimum 3 songs that beat Born to Run.....example....God only knows....which McCartney called one of the graestest of all time. Baba O' Riley by the who.....Gimme Shelter by the Rolling Stones. Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. You really got me by the Kinks....Born to Run....Are you kidding me????? I will give Springsteen #27 because he was a fairly hard worker and not a law breaker. But in the top 10? The Sex Pistols and Ramones were better.
Bruce still does a 4-hour live show. This is his signature song, from 1975. East Coasters knew him by theb, but this song and album put him on the cover of Time magazine and set his career in motion. It's a 50 year career so quite the rabbit hole. "Thunder Road', "Hungry Heart", "Tunnel of Love", "I'm on Fire", "The Rising", "My City of Ruin".
If you never attended a Bruce concert back in the day, you really missed out. I’ve been to so many I lost count. Never disappointed. He left it all on the stage. His whole band did. The energy in those arenas was insane.
He played pleasent little ditties that offended a few people. How about the Sex Pistols that spoke out against the Monarchy in their songs and by doing so they were allmost brought up on treason charges? That and their lyrics got them stabbed in the leg by a razor....."John Lydon" and they had to have their own protection to go out in public. No....Springsteen took few risks....Had a few things to bitch about....While the Sex Pistols enraged the Nation....for the most part....and were subjected to physical violence because of it. At least they spoke out against the rampant robbery that the middle class was subjected to. Springsteen never missed a meal....the sex pistols....and other English Bands did.
Huge Bruce fan, seen him over 100 times in big stadiums and small venues (yes at The Stony Pony among the many times ) He always always doesa minimum of 3 hours every show!!!!
Was waiting for this for forever. Glad you got to this song! A real experience! I'd recommend to check out Jungleland (Tempe 1980), The River (Tempe 1980), or Rosalita (Phoenix 1978) next. Springsteen live is the best! Unmatched!
I like to watch the drummer Max Weinberg, continually staring at Bruce's back. Bruce did a few shows early in his career with James Brown. Since Brown adlibed and moved around the stage unpredictedly, Springsteen had his drummer also never lose sight of him. Nothing like a drummer and the band continuining with the song as Bruce heads off and is interacting with the fans. He played before an estimated crowd of around 400,000 in East Germany a year before the Berlin Wall came down. Kind of Woodstock like, in that about 150,000 bought tickets and then thousands knocked down the fences and joined. He didn't bring down the wall, but many say that rock-n-roll loving crowd put a crack in it.
Bruce songs you should check out: "Thunder Road," "Jungleland," "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out," "Spirit in the Night," "E Street Shuffle," "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)," "Kitty's Back," "Land of Hopes and Dreams," "Wrecking Ball," "The Rising," "Mary's Place," "Land of Hopes and Dreams," "Light of Day," "Sherry Darling," and "Glory Days."
*You forgot:* _"Incident on 57th Street" - "Racing in the Streets" - "Prove it all NIght" - "Badlands" - "Billie Jean" - "Sandy" - "Dancing in the Dark" - NYC Serenade" - "Drive all Night"_ - and dozens more - these were off the top of my head.
You had to have been there -- anyone from or near Jersey went to see Bruce whether it was at one of his awesome concerts or performing in the local pubs or at the Jersey shore. He was from Freehold which at one time was a major Jersey manufacturing town whose businesses pretty much shut down and left a city bereft of jobs for the ordinary town folk. Bruce wrote most of his songs about that, writing about what had happened in Freehold to be typical of what was befalling towns all across America. I went to almost every concert, saw him at the Stone Pony in Asbury, around town just hanging out and many times at Madison Square Garden or Central Park. Bruce made a pact with his supporters that he would keep his tickets reasonable which he did for many, many years which is why you see the crowds he got. He is and always will be awesome!. Still love him and his music, and I'm 78.
Bruce Springsteen was my first musical crush (10 years old) I'm 46 years old now and still crushing on the man. Other songs: My Hometown Born in the USA
Bruce Springsteen, the boss he’s the best that’s why they’re making a movie out of him. Can’t wait for that. He has a huge library. I’m sure you will enjoy it.❤
Finally got a glimpse of Steve Van Zandt towards the end who also co-starred in The Sopranos as Tony's right hand man. Love him! I've heard his concerts with the energy of everyone in the band are like no other. They've been together for decades. Bruce has struggled with depression. As one who has battled that darkness most of my life it's obvious in his music and especially in his eyes. He's a good guy! Love Bruce!
I saw Springsteen in 2008. What an on fire show. Got to see the Big Man on Sax. Non stop for over 3 hours. ❤ As far as Live shows go, Bruce just ranks behind Tina Turner. Now she was on fire too.
5 and half hours of the Boss and the E Street Band, Leeds Roundhay Park, Born in the USA tour was one of the best times of my life. They are astonishing live
I saw Bruce in 78 or 79 San Jose performing arts 4 hours crazy good show. Then I saw his last show in 80? at Winterland in SF roof almost collapsed. Then I saw Bruce 1984 tour I was so high I left after 40 minutes. Oh well saw him again in Oakland 2005? great show 2 loud oh well I will never pay to see Bruce again.

Sex Pistols were just as good. Bruce played it safe 99 % of the time. The Sex Pistols had songs that threw stones at the Monarchy...so much so they were allmost brought up on treason charges. Had songs so imflamitory that they got stabbed in street fights because of it. No one puts it on like Bruce?? Every see footage of a Black Flag Concert....or Bad Brains? Bruce was good but the bands named above were better. No one puts it on like Bruce? Rush was way better.

Now he has Clarence Clemens nephew as the saxophone player!
His live shows are worth going to. Even at 75 he puts on a 3 hour concert. I saw him twice this year. One in Phoenix and in San Francisco. I also saw him on his Born in the USA tour in Switzerland. My favorite song of his is Badlands. Please react to that one.
Bruce was from a small town named Freehold NJ,He was and still will be the BEST thing from that time !!! I grew up 15 minutes from there !!! Bruce is a legend !!!!!!!
I was at Club Hell in Providence RI for 80’s Night, September 2001. The energy was something else. On edge. A couple weeks after 9/11, everyone was getting along as one, as Americans. We danced and sweat and thought back to the 80’s and simpler times for a couple hours. Then the DJ Did it. Put on Born in the USA to close out the night. Fists were pumped, hugs were given, tears were shed. Chants of USA USA USA rang out long after the music stopped. It was an incredible experience I’ll never forget.
One of my Jersey boys!!!! Bruce would show up at dive bars and play for hours! He loves his fans! Jon born jovi from the band Bon Jovi is also a Jersey boy! Fun fact….bruce would never play an hour and a half or even 2 hours. Prepare for at least a 3 hour show. He’s fantastic!!
1984 before and after, Springsteen was lifting weights diligently and was proud to show off his new muscles with t-shirts and cutoffs etc., and yes, the stadium shows were packed, in part because "Born In The USA" was the public consensus song of the year.... For a Springsteen song with a touch of baseball to it, give a listen to "Glory Days".
40 years later and Bruce and the E Street Band are still filling arenas and stadiums. The man is imho the best there ever was or will be. Writes his own music and multi instrumentalist.
The Beetles , Who, Rolling Stones, Bob Marley...Rush....much better. Bruce had songs parents would approve of. Even Grandparents....no sence of rebellion.
Commando by the Ramones was better. So was a "Day in the Life" by the Beetles. Throw in God only knows by the Beach Boys....Springsteen played it safe and mild. By Marley was better.
Glory Days, to me, hits harder than any other that I know by Bruce. As the years and decades pass, nostalgia accumulates - the ever expanding glory days. BP has seen the energy of his live performances that can only be somewhat captured in recordings because it really needs to be experienced first hand for full effect. He might enjoy the music video more if there are no copyright issues to contend with.
I love Springsteen, so happy you reacted to this. In last few years, in the UK, we've had a lad come through from the North East (working class area) called Sam Fender - it's his real name. He's brilliant and got a whole English/ Springsteen vibe going. You need to check out Will We Talk? Seventeen Going Under, Hypersonic Missiles or Spit of You. He's not done a bad song yet and he's brilliant live.
Greetings from Germany. Thank's for this reaction. I saw Bruce over 20 times and every show is fantastic. His power and personality is unreachable. Please check out "if i should fall behind" live in Madison Square Garden. It's very emotional.
I went to his show in Miami i believe 86 he played for 4 hours and a small intermission, it was AMAZING!!! And that dedication to his fans at the end PURE CLASS.

This is a great rock"n roll classic! It's one of my favorite songs from Bruce. Another great song from Bruce is Hungry Heart and the song Streets of Philadelphia.
A lot of Springsteen's lyrics refer to the limited options of young people in declining, industrial America. The decline of the American dream, and the need to escape. Awesome stuff. Thunder Road is also great, with similar themes
If you like him and his band you should see the movie Eddie and the Cruisers. The sax player in that movie is supposed to be like Clarence here and Eddie, the main singer reminds people of Bruce and even the Cruisers’ music is similar to Bruce’s music. It’s a fine movie. I’ve seen it a few times and the music is rockin’.
I haven't seen him live lately but, from the 70s to 90s, he put on some of the most entertaining concerts in a way that really made the feel crowd like on and made the evening special. And of course, Clarence on the sax. Simply amazing live performances.
Jungleland, Backstreets, 10th Avenue Freeze Out and my favorite, THUNDER ROAD! I think you'd also like Tunnel of Love and One Step Up. Covers of Dylan's Chimes of Freedom is also great as is his cover of Jimmy Cliff's Trapped.
In 2016 still voted as #1 live performer to see by Rolling Stone magazine. Not bad for a guy in his 60's at the time. Saw him in Seattle that year, three hour and forty minute concert at Key Arena. ❤
I remember 16 years old during the Born To Run Tour and seeing 2 of the 5 nights at Winterland in San Francisco. ALSO his 6 night run a few years later. All his shows ran about 3 1/2 hrs . and tix were like 8.50.. THOSE 70's - 80's were the greatest times for music and concerts....

4 hours
Fabulous song from Bruce Springsteen, I love it, this song is from 1975, really iconic in my opinion. This performance is absolutely awesome! Other fav songs are 'Thunder Road', 'Badlands', and 'The River' among many others. 😊😊
My first concert of Bruce was in 1988 in Bremen / Germany in the football stadium. It was sold out for two evenings and also all the other concerts in Europe. My concert were 4 hours of pure joy and fun. It was one of the best days of my life.
Thank you Bruce.
The energy of a Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band concert is so strong that you are high on the energy for days!
YES! You reacted to the correct version! Bruce is AMAZING in concert- when you go to a Bruce concert, the audience goes home exhausted after the 3-4 hours of singing and dancing!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼❤️
I saw Bruce Springsteen twice, 1985 and 2023! The energy at his concerts is just amazing 😊! Thank you for this reaction, I love this song...
His concerts are like none other. I saw him again last week in Philly....74 YO and he still rocked out for almost 3 hours without a break. Best concerts I've ever been to. The energy is palpable.
Saw Bruce and the E Street Band last year, 73 old and still rockin' 3 hours straight, what a Boss!
Some of the best concerts I've ever seen and the longest is Bruce Springsteen. Lucky enough to see him 5 times amazing full of energy beyond belief.
Born to Run is forever playlist. Have a listen to the studio version rather than live. The River is another favourite. Great storytelling song.
Each song a banger? I beg to differ....Several Springsteen songs had the fans leaving the venue and taking a bathroom break.
I feel like Bruce is right up your ally. He’s a story teller and a poet as far as I’m concerned. Dig into his catalog. Some absolute gems.
The greatest American Rock & Roll band ever……..Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band!
Clarence on the sax...fabuloso!
Youth. Cars. Summer nights. Boys and girls. Rebellion. The facade of freedom.
Among the great story tellers of modern popular music.
Been listening to Bruce since 1973....heard this live for 1st time in Spring of 1976.......just an awesome performance and song catalog...........
Born to Run currently rated as the 27th greatest song of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine. I would have it in the top 10.
His concerts are pure magical, so much energy and happiness, s good man 😊 the river is a great song
I think that is the kind of ovation all performers want to get!!
This song got him cover stories in both Newsweek and Time magazines the same week - Oct 27, 1975.

@@EmeraldCityVideo Was Jesus a Bruce Sprungstein fan?
RIP Clarence Clemons, he could tear up a saxaphone!

They're not "bangers" like the ones you listed above, but "I'm on Fire" and "Jersey Girl" are also pretty great.
@@murrayspiffy2815 he already did Dancing in the Dark. And you mean Bobby Jean, not Billie Jean
Just seach Live Bottom Line and listen to the full broadcast
Other songs:
My Hometown
Born in the USA
Bruce Springsteen, the boss he’s the best that’s why they’re making a movie out of him. Can’t wait for that. He has a huge library. I’m sure you will enjoy it.❤
Finally got a glimpse of Steve Van Zandt towards the end who also co-starred in The Sopranos as Tony's right hand man. Love him! I've heard his concerts with the energy of everyone in the band are like no other. They've been together for decades. Bruce has struggled with depression. As one who has battled that darkness most of my life it's obvious in his music and especially in his eyes. He's a good guy! Love Bruce!
Check out Steve Van Zandt, in Lillyhammer, he is the star of the series and knocks it out of the park.
@@toddstevens13 I will. Thank you!
No one puts it on you like Bruce !!!.... Yes indeed he is a performer who gives it his all every single time because he loves his fans and never forgets it !!!
@@danielbrown3461 Wow, what are you smokin? Rush...???? I think you read ehat I meant wrong... I mean he WAS a fabulous concert act, Iv'e seen about 8 of his concerts and they were all bangers.
Great song always loved it r.i.p. Clarence clemons
He says both consecutively: I wanna know if love is wild, I wanna know if love is real.
He does between 3 to 4 hours concerts my parents seen him so many times in concerts he’s all over the stage he has a awesome band especially the late Clarence Clements unfortunately he passed away Bruce was very close to him he took his passing so bad . Now he has Clarence Clemens nephew as the saxophone player!
LOVE this whole band ...
Speaking of 9/11 album The Rising was such a beautiful response to all we as a country were going through
This is why he's called "The Boss!"
The best performer right now the song, glory days with him have good lyrics and energy ⚡ 😊
Bob Marley was much better.
Nothing like a Springsteen concert. I was in the pit for a 2016 stadium show and he still was doing over 3 1/2 hours. Best concert of my life!
This entire album, beginning to end. Studio version. An absolute must.
Bruce yes! We call him the Boss. so good
Saw him just last week and at 74 he still has it! Favorites are Thunder Road and Backstreets.
One of the greatest rock and roll songs ever written!!
The River is my fave Springsteen song - great story, unbelievable emotion. Tenth Ave. Freezeout sounds like old Motown and is another great listen.
Commando by the Ramones was better. So was a "Day in the Life" by the Beetles. Throw in God only knows by the Beach Boys....Springsteen played it safe and mild. By Marley was better.
Badlands, Backstreets, No Surrender; live always.
Born to Run is awesome. Glory Days is also one of my favorites, even to this day.
This is my favorite Springsteen tune. From the 70's.
The 80s what a time to be alive
Rosalita is an awesome song!!!
Bruce's shows have been known to run 3.5 - 4 hours!! He's amazing!
His shows go for HOURS and it ALL ENERGY - start to FINISH!!! THANKS, BRUCE, for ALL YOUR GREAT MUSIC!! :) Thanks for reacting to this one, BP!! :) HUGS!
This was the very 1st Springsteen song ever heard and his Best IMO
My favorites are Glory Days & I'm On Fire.
Ya BUTBorn to Run is from the good ol 70s Baby
Been to his concert last year, seeing him again next month…it is crazy..74 and still rocking a almost 3 hour show!! 😱
His gravely voice is so sexy. BP you killing it with all this oldies. My oldies would actually be music from the 50’s and 60’s . Thank you BP ❤️❤️❤️❤️👵🏼 Gmaw
This is a great rock"n roll classic! It's one of my favorite songs from Bruce. Another great song from Bruce is Hungry Heart and the song Streets of Philadelphia.
The Boss and the E Street Band! From this Aussie, I love them! 💞
My favorite is Thunder Road but he has so many fabulous songs! and live he is amazing...take me to church!
A lot of Springsteen's lyrics refer to the limited options of young people in declining, industrial America. The decline of the American dream, and the need to escape. Awesome stuff. Thunder Road is also great, with similar themes
Even Born In The USA, if anyone listens to the actual lyrics & not just that one line.
Bruce is one of the great story tellers. The sax player (Clarence Clemmons AKA The Big Man was his best friend) That rabbit hole is worth diving into.
The best song ever, the best album of Bruce. A TRUE HYMN TO LIFE ❤🎸
If you like him and his band you should see the movie
Eddie and the Cruisers. The sax player in that movie is supposed to be like Clarence here and Eddie, the main singer reminds people of Bruce and even the Cruisers’ music is similar to Bruce’s music. It’s a fine movie. I’ve seen it a few times and the music is rockin’.
Not to mention Michael Pare as Eddie. 😊
My fav Bruce song
Spirit in the Night '73 and Thunder Road '75. Big fan of early stuff. ❤ saw him live in 77 and 83ish.
Nice reaction, 1980's Bruce concerts were amazing, I don't think anyone has done it better.
I love how you bring up the lyrics. Seeing that poetry.
It's hard to find better than the Boss! He is fantastic in concert! My voice teacher said he was not a good singer, and I said "Yeah, I'm sure he hates it all the way to the bank."
