I'm still kinda sad the Damien Wayne batman game got cancelled
would've been better than what we ended up getting.
I can vividly picture what the setting would look/be like too and my mind goes a million directions with story themes and plot concepts. It's such a good idea and a shame that nothing came if it.

I remember seeing this demo a while back, wish the game came out, it would've been fun to play for sure. The Wii was a versatile console for its time.
I bet combat would have been an actual work out when playing the wii version. Them motion controls were something else 😂

Many of the cancelled games would have changed the industry in several ways had it not been for the limitation of the hardware or corporate meddling.

Pretty sure that Wii prototype was made closer to Arkham City's development time frame given the Tyger billboard, eviction posters and Joker thug designs all looking like reused City assets.
Maybe but the goon design seen in the prototype was in Arkham Asylum. It’s actually a cut goon design that can only be seen briefly in bts footage for the game. In terms of the tyger billbords and logo it doesn’t necessarily mean this was a port for city. 1. Art for city was being developed during the development of asylum so its possible red fly studios was just reusing visual assets for the game. One reason is because it was a prototype so they just probably resued assets for it. Especially since it was a demo set in a city so plastering that stuff all over the map would help fill it up. Of course those assets weren’t gonna be present in the final game. Prototypes of games have used early assets from their hd counterparts so its not far feched.
2. The developers described it as an Arkham Asylum demo in the description of the video. I don’t think they’d make a mistake of confusing the two games, and not fix the typo 7 years after it was uploaded. Especially since the video was posted in 2013 which was 2 years fresh off arkham citys release so I doubt again theyd have a typo like that.
One last thing, I believe they described it as an arkham asylum demo on their official website in their portfolio section as well. I believe they sold their domain to a Japanese website of some kind (due to the company being sold) so I’m not entirely sure about this.
Could it have been an arkham city wii port? Sure but considering the wii’s dwindling popularity and the fact the studio was working on a major star wars game at the time I doubt it. Of course I could be wrong.
@@WarpingFist I appreciate the detailed response, but I think you misunderstood me. I didn't say I thought it was a City port, I trust Red Fly that it was in fact an Asylum Wii Demo, I was just noting that it must've been made when City was being developed given the reused assets. (That doesn't mean 2011 when the game was close to release of course, as you said City concept art was made even when Asylum was still in development. I think when specifically this demo was made really depends on when those assets that it's reusing were first conceptualized, as from what I remember of the video description Red Fly posted, they didn't leave a build date on the demo.)
I did forget about those early Asylum thug designs from the videos and screenshots though, that's pretty interesting. Makes one wonder if any other unused Asylum designs like the straight jacket henchmen would have made it into the wii port.

Where at one point making a Darth Maul game it sounded like it was gonna be an awsome game with gameplay inspired by the Arkham series
it went through a difficult development and unfortunatley got canceld due to the Disney merger of Lucasfilm in 2012
if you want to know more details about this Darth Maul game i highly recomend the youtuber Bombastic two videos on it in the second video he even interviews a lead developer who worked on the project back in the day really interesting stuff

I still wish that the Damian Wayne Batman game was Revived and I am going to make my own custom Design for Damian's Batsuit.

I remember hearing about this one I saw this a while back it kind looked like pre Arkham city with Batman in the city instead on Arkham asylum but also I can see how Batman Arkham origins blackgate got inspiration but overall I think it would have been cool to see this game set before asylum also the canceled Batman Arkham beyond game also would have been cool to see with Damian Wayne as the new Batman

Great video! It's fun to speculate on how the final game may have played out. While it probably would not have made it into the Arkham Asylum wii port, I could imagine that the motion controls could have been used to quickfire gadgets in combat and exploration for Arkham City. This use of motion controls reminds me of Mario Odyssey where you can flick the controller to perform special jumps with Mario. While the motion controls may not have been integral to gameplay, it would been cool to see how they could have incorporated it. I imagine the motion controls could have been used creatively in crime scene investigations or hacking with the cryptographic sequencer.
I can see the player having to apply explosive gel by physically moving the motion controller.
OOO Yeah that's a really good idea too! Drawing a bat symbol with motion controls would have driven me crazy as a kid.

I would actually like to see Batman Arkham game that takes place before main series and between the games of the series, and that not only includes Batman, but also other Bat family members and Justice League too.

kinda unrelated but arkham city had that armored edition wii u port 😮💨😮💨 had the map on your gamepad which felt super immersive, it was like batman’s arm computer on your gamepad screen and the game on the tv. of course you could just open the map on screen if you wanted, but as a kid it was cool to have both.

I would have so played the DS port of Arkham. It looks like it had a lot of potential. And I’m a sucker for seeing solid action games on less powerful hardware. There’s something really charming about it. Oh what could have been.

Whats interesting is that the goon model was actually present in early versions of Asylum.

You’re clearly were a part of the game development team or u knew someone that was that made the Arkham games I get what you’re doing and I wish the Will game was fully developed and worked on cause I think it needed more time to cook and didn’t have any quick deadlines on how much of the game that needed to be ready graphic quality was ok but not good for its time It’s a shame we couldn’t get this game. Cause it makes the Arkhamverse a more well-written and thought out DC universe for Batman From The Wii Port to the PS4.

Arkham Asylum began development in 2007 and released in 2009 so it's safe to say this game was being developed around late 2007 and early 2008.
