Hedonism taking to great lengths caused physical addiction. My question to you is that, would you have disciplined yourself away from heroin had you only tried it and not psychologically got addicted.
girls can hide it pretty well if they are good at make up and don't completely ruin themselves. I know some females that use and you wouldn't be able to tell at all. some of them are high class call girls as well as they are extremely good looking. you simply would not know unless you knew that they were crack and heroin addicts.
I think the ones who still look good somehow manage to maintain good habits throughout their addiction instead of completely abandoning themselves as normal crack/smack addicts do. If you can still eat 3 meals a day, exercise hard 2 or 3 days a week, have a wash every other day and sleep 6 to 8 hours a night then you will look somewhat decent, especially if you dress well and do your makeup correctly as this girl clearly does. I know this cus I was a heroin addict for 2 years, but was still eating properly (4 meals a day), working out with weights twice a week and sleeping 8 hours a night, washing every day and dressing well. I looked the complete opposite of a heroin addict, so much to the point that when I was buying the dealers questioned me seriously asking if I was a cop, all the other users sitting in the dealers den looked at me every time with huge suspicion, clearly thinking someone who looked as clean cut and healthy looking as me must be the law doing an undercover job.
I believe her, I hear about things like this all too often. Terribly sad that individuals force themselves to stay in an abusive relationship to avoid detox and withdraw symptoms. Can't win for losing, my heart goes out to you.
Jesse Tharp she could score anywhere with ease, heroin is everywhere where she lives obviously. she's probably lying. like she lies about everything else, like Lying to her elderly guardian to get money for a """car""""
I guess you're right, but I gather her "boyfriend" acquires her heroin significantly cheaper than she ever could and with a shortage of money I doubt she'd be able to feed her habit on her own, she certainly knows that. No doubt she *could* make a break and get out of that existence but when she has someone evidently feeding her addiction the way her partner is, why would she? In a sense she's a prisoner there, but a semi-content one. Having Louis there would probably have been a great way out of it for her, I'm certain he would have helped her somehow, but she's nowhere near the realisation that she needs to do that.
I watched this whole program and the thing that struck me most is how the drug companies, unrestricted by regulation and high on their ability to make huge profits from a privatised and fragmented health service, basically turned a huge chunk of the population into junkies. They ruined thousands of lives and I bet they'll walk away scot free. So proud to have an NHS that can dictate terms to these monstrous corporations and provides more than just a "take this pill" approach to health care (which was all the insurance companies - also out for profit - would pay for in Virginia). To think that I still get some Americans arguing that their system is superior when this kind of shit is so prevalent. It simply wouldn't happen in the UK.
Marc Carran I work in the NHS and yes there are reps. I talk to them frequently - generally to pass them to people who tell them to fuck off. But the difference between our system and their system is that there is virtually no motive for GPs to listen to them or place patients on long term opioids because a) NICE controls prices and mandates that generic alternatives (where they exist) be available at a lower price, b) that medication is reviewed for signs of addiction on a 6 monthly basis, where risk is high, c) that a medication is only licenced if it is shown to be effective and cause no harm and d) that Controlled Drugs, as they are known, are audited constantly and their use revewed by the Care Quality Commission as part of annual inspection. None of this happens in America. There is constant auditing and a constant watch on cost vs need which makes it much, much, much harder to game the system for profit than the US system. Reps are treated as an irritating annoyance, not a way to fob off patients or make a quick buck. Simple fact: medication is far more controlled and accountable in the NHS. Misinformed?
Marc Carran there are other factors at play here too: medical care is expensive in the USA. Were these people to request tests and treatment - MRIs, physiotherapy or surgery, for example - that are free on the NHS, they would be charged deductibles and their insurer may refuse to pay. This leads many to medicate the symptoms rather than heal the injury - because it's cheaper. Also, there are less rules on paid sick leave in America. In many cases, you simply wouldn't get any. You go off sick to treat chronic pain, you loose money. Another excuse to medicate rather than treat. This is a working class area and the expectation must be that the level of insurance affordable to them would simply encourage medication over treatment. With no oversight, and a profit incentive for practitioners to take back handers or make deals with pharma reps, GPs in Virginia were under double pressure to just hand out synthetic opioids. This would simply not happen in the UK. At all.
It can and will happen in the UK. The NHS is being dismantled under our noses, and people continue to vote for the people doing it. I give us 10 years, maybe 15, before we're in a situation similar to the US.
"he pushed me. he didn't intend my back to break, but it did." It just ain't that easy to get away from the bad sometimes. I think lack of love and confidence are the 2 main factors with addiction. I hope she's doing well. Anyone know?
It's an easy go-to, 'you aren't a prisoner'. But when you're dependent on drugs and the guy who says you're not a prisoner is the man who supplies you with drugs, yes, you are a prisoner. If America had the type of healthcare systems that other OECD nations have, the support would be in place for detox and rehab. People could get methadone or Suboxone for the price of a dispensary fee, and their recovery could be monitored. But America still has a frontier mentality.
