a fish exploring its very own fish pond nothing really anything good here 2 see kinda basic a wild animal exploring the forest if u will hahaha standard basics
Poor Catherine. She looked really deflated getting into her car. If there's one thing worse than being a bully it is being a failed, ineffective bully.
The way Louis was so reasonable then asked to keep the conversation going showed how shallow and hollow Catherine's threats were and how childish her tactics.
He has become more famous in his own right, than the people he's often interviewing! I'm not sure that's a good thing in his line of work. It certainly proved a handicap in his scientology documentary film, that and working for the BBC of course.
That is the great thing about Louis, he is not interesting. There is absolutely nothing interesting about him whatsoever. It is what he does and what he brings to light in others. There is no point interviewing him.
decade240 I agree. That's always been the appeal of Louis to me. He's like totally dull and neutral (well he comes across that way, but really is obviously a very well educated and traveled person with opinions on many things)...yet he presents this kind of nerdy naive person, very open minded...and although he's a serious intellectual chap, he doesn't take himself too seriously and is able to stick his neck out and take a risk of looking silly. it's enabled him to go to places, and speak to people, that have been marginalised out of society or seen as too taboo or dangerous.. He can go speak to neo-Nazi's or raise questions about the US prison gang violence.. in a way no other interviewer could do..he really gets into peoples minds, lives their life, gains their friendship and trust of people from all walks of life, political and social backgrounds. It takes a special person to be able to do that.
Oh how lovely it is to just watch two intellectuals have a healthy and normal discussion with one another, my mind actually feels clear after hearing them talk!
Louis just kills with niceness. However the other side tries to create us vs them Louis refuses to do it. It takes alot of emotional effort to continually hate a nice person.
That whole exchange between "Catherine" and Louis was batshit crazy! First tried to intimidate and bully him into leaving, then when it became all too obvious that it wasn't working, she had a hissy fit and left. The part about the filming was right out of 2nd grade recess LOL!!!
I love the way he kind of mirrors the standardised approach using their first name repeatedly and blindly stating baseless things. It is truly a weird tactic that happens in weird dutch business aswell...or any business: yes, Sharon.
Possibly or putting on a show of scientiegy bulllting tactics. They are taught to act a certain way in certain situations, if they see somebody giving them bad P.R. they are taught to bully them into silence.
Such respect for Louis, it is so important someone in his position remains impartial, objective, honest and doesn't outright dismiss the subject (The Church of Scientology in this case) or carry a bias into his work. This cannot be easy when face with an institution that outwardly seems explicitly exploitative, opportunistic, damaging and downright mad. He gives them no material to fudge to their benefit , no premise to build and exaggerate an argument on, leaves no holes in his argument for people within such an organisation to throw back at him and distract people from the actual issues his work helps to expose and he doesn't mirror mindless aggression.
+CjuGames - Let's Plays & Walkthroughs They always do, did it with the last guy who made a BBC program related to, difference is they actually got that guy to snap, not sure they're gonna get that with Louis Theroux
7:46 woman "tell him to stop filming me" Louis "well your filming us"!! woman "tell him to stop" Louis "why dont you tell him to stop"?? woman"tell him to stop" Louis "you tell him to stop and i"ll tell him to stop, how bout dat"!! woman "stop" Louis "tell him to stop" lmfao.. the only time i have seen Louie act immature
Interesting interview. Went to see his movie yesterday, really enjoyed it. There were times when reality and re-enactment blurred into one and I felt quite disoriented. I think this was the point though. Worth checking out
I just love you Louis, it is so refreshing to see you approach controversial topics with the openness and curiosity of a child. You can show us the humans behind the ideas and practices and that is a source of great understanding
When he walks in to a room, something happens and people starts to listening !! And where can you buy that calm ?? Amazing , legendary docu-maker….. Unique !!! Thanks for the effort mate ! Cheers….
Very enjoyable interview. Both journalists are charismatic and interesting. Never heard of the female journalist before! Would like to see more of her work.
Take notes kids, this is how you do not start an interview. When Louis asks her questions you see the skill in which a professional can get an honest response.
She works for an awesome Dutch investigative journalism show called Rambam. They tackle subjects like Scientology, but also things like locksmiths charging way too much, underpaid cleaners and my favourite returning subject: handing over 'found' wallets at the police office, then returning a few months later to claim them. Guess how many never received them.
She went undercover to the scientology centre in Holland. You should see it, very good, its on UA-cam. She was real brave to go into the hornets nest. And even more brave to go back and confronted them, demanded her file.
louis is the man, he sees this woman has more insight into scientology and the interviiew switches to louis asking the questions. he is the ultimate knowledge addict, love him
11:00 - Really good point by Louis. Sounds like he's really thought about this for a long time and has prepared himself to avoid the ways that Scientology usually tries to discredit reporters who criticize them.
I wish more investigative reporters were like Louis. He's good at what he does, getting right in there & finding out the truth; so far as he can; about so many interesting subjects.
Louis theroux inspired me to visit the church of scientology in my street in Amsterdam. I went there, they sat me down and let me watch a video about L. Ron Hubbard (took a DVD home) it was very American, patriotic, about his personal achievements, I didn't really found it interesting. I asked if I could see a video about the church's ideology and how it works, they did, I didn't really follow, asked a few questions about it but didn't get any answers. What happened while I was watching seemed a bit uninteresting at first, there was a man who clearly worked there and a woman who just appeared, talking very loudly just around the corner how scientology has helped her greatly and how it was so similar to Islam. I found that a bit odd (I guess they thought I was a muslim). They sat me down to make a personality test (250 statements you answer 1 to 5 how much it applies to me), that took me more than a hour, I did my best to answer in a way they couldn't use against me, mostly impartial answers. When I was making the test, there was the same woman again. Trying to strike a conversation with me about Islam and how she saw all the benefits of scientology. I didn't really respond and she made her leave. I was put in a room with a guy that brought me in to talk about my test scores. He called me depressed and wanted to find any excuse to go deeper on my lacking social life, I denied everything and was the weirdest conversation I had, (mind you I was 20 years old and my life was still all about parties) I was ever sceptical and brushed off everything I could, I remember him saying that I needed help and was depressed because I didn't have a partner or wasn't married yet, I answered with the biggest smile I wasn't depressed didn't care about marriage. I got into the most heated discussion with him about my life, first he kept referring to my scores, than it was he actually said, fuck the score's they don't mean anything. It was a constant contradiction. I decided after being there for about 3 hours I wanted to leave, I tried confronting him with the woman how that was weird. That didn't go so well and took my jacket and left taking a DVD of L. Ron Hubbard with me as a momento, skill scared to watch it. I use it as decoration now to remind me of my experience. I went in there full well I wasn't going to accept anything, it was maybe the most weird adventure I had. That's what they do, play act around you to make you open yourself up, that they can use.
This is how u have a rational conversation, weather u were raised right at a point in life u have to be mature enough to talk things out with someone without judgment or u will get no where.
Louis is pretty much the only vérité style documentarian I enjoy. Even Herzog, who is clearly an extremely talented film maker, takes me out of the film with his presence. But Louis has an uncanny ability to be at the centre with his subject/s and not pull focus from them. Working undercover for a story, whether it's an investigative piece for a newspaper or a documentary, splits the focus to an extent, just by dint of the fact that part of the audience's attention is on the possibility of an undercover person being exposed and the consequences that may ensue.
Louis , is Amazing . One of the Greatest Interviewer & Doco. Maker of our Times. From The Quirky to the Sad , to the disturbed & shocking ( that Hills ? Church ). Can't think of its name. But he never looses his calm approach.
The documentary is unreal, go watch it if you haven't. In the interview, loved when Louis talked about journalism integrity when explaining why he does not do undercover investigation.
I think Louis was being a little generous in his description of the sea org. The sea org is a quasi-military/navy, based purely on LRH 1) forced into tax and political exile and needing to keep his org together and keep control over everyone 2) to re-live his fantasy that he was an excellent WWII naval officer (he was anything but in reality according to his service record, but he liked to perpetuated the myth he was) and create some kind of elitist military-regimented vanguard arm to his org (similar to the Nazi's SS), the uniforms bear an striking similarity to the US Navy. He even had lofty ambitions of using the sea org to establish a new scientology country in South Africa. The guy was totally crazy insane.
Aint she! I was thinking damn, I gotta get over to Nevertheland's if the girls are all as fit as her! That's our backyard in UK, they're our neighbours alongside the French ;-)
James Meow Yeah unfortunately. Damn the EU. If only we blocked out all non-EU countries and restricted free movement to our own countries peoples under a proper quota system, we'd be fine and one big happy family! UK would certainly re-join such an EU I'm sure. It's a pity the pig-headed technocrats at Brussels and the socialist idealists in Germany and France are so stubborn.
Tend to agree, mate. Immigration was the main issue in my household. I was still on the fence until Merkel basically told the whole of the middle east to come to Europe, from then on I was definitely voting leave, nothing would change my mind. Incidentally, she is cute as fuck ;).....
Probably someone from scientology knowing that you would see the notification "someone is trying to get into your email" to scare you but not actually hack u.
The last part was just plain dumb - the reason his email was l blocked was because he was trying to access his won emails in Clearwater. For goodness sake! Many email providers will look at the IP address from which a user is logging in to their account and will issue a warning or require a text/phonecall verification if the geographic location of the IP address varies over a short time span.
What a fantastic discussion - so clever, so deep, so interesting. PS Now I'm as much in love with Rinke as she unfortunately seems to be with Louis - that was a joke (I think).
I like Louis but I'm skeptical that they got any interesting content for the movie. The clip they've shown me think the entire movie is about him trying and failing to get a decent interview. And I'm not psyched to watch 1.5 hours of him arguing about road access and making fun of scientology camera men.
The 11 year old was probably just auditing Dianetics, very entry level and can run Dianetics on you which is not Scientology auditing. There are different classes of auditors Class 4 can audit you through Grade 1-4, Class 5 can audit you to the state of clear, etc, then class 6 class 9 and class 12.
Louis is a voice of reason in an age of insanity. I just really love his calm and rational approach to difficult topics. What a top chap.
Agreed.

YEP THE TALMUDIC SHITS
I love her interviewing style!!! It's a genuine conversation and doesn't feel scripted
Its called the Netherlands
yeah. OK. Because I totally asked.
+Donal, but you were curious
I was thinking the same. Great interviewer(s)
Bart K gênant om te lezen Bart...

The way Louis was so reasonable then asked to keep the conversation going showed how shallow and hollow Catherine's threats were and how childish her tactics.
@Michael Andrew Imagery totally agree with u except the shaging part:)
She prob got punichment for not getting them to leave.
the way Louis handled it you could be forgiven to think he was the Scientologist not Catherine. Sounded like she needed a few auditing sessions. :-)
More than once have I seen Louis become the interviewer when he is supposed to be the interviewed, he cannot help himself.
He has become more famous in his own right, than the people he's often interviewing! I'm not sure that's a good thing in his line of work. It certainly proved a handicap in his scientology documentary film, that and working for the BBC of course.
Best example of this for me was on Joe Rogan's podcast. Louis just took over that entire episode. :D
I think he was quite genuinely having a conversation because he was interested in what she had to to say
That is the great thing about Louis, he is not interesting. There is absolutely nothing interesting about him whatsoever. It is what he does and what he brings to light in others. There is no point interviewing him.

I agree. That's always been the appeal of Louis to me. I cracked up when Louis said that lol
Oh how lovely it is to just watch two intellectuals have a healthy and normal discussion with one another, my mind actually feels clear after hearing them talk!
Louis just kills with niceness. However the other side tries to create us vs them Louis refuses to do it. It takes alot of emotional effort to continually hate a nice person.
zcribe true
This is great, I can't tell who's interviewing who. Its an interesting conversation either way.
I disagree
His approach has always been a conversation it's the best way to be.
It's actually awesome to listen to two journalists have a discussion.
That whole exchange between "Catherine" and Louis was batshit crazy! First tried to intimidate and bully him into leaving, then when it became all too obvious that it wasn't working, she had a hissy fit and left. The part about the filming was right out of 2nd grade recess LOL!!!
The best part is you can tell that she’s using the “tone” stuff that is suppose to make normal people do what you say and it just doesn’t work.
I love the way he kind of mirrors the standardised approach using their first name repeatedly and blindly stating baseless things. It is truly a weird tactic that happens in weird dutch business aswell...or any business: yes, Sharon.
"Are you making a documentary as well"? 11:50. This is hilarious.
keeping perfect distance with him, I actually laughed out loud at that haha. It's little things like that which make Louis Theroux the best at this.
And apparently they were....
Lmao and the creepy, slow approach to him! XD
Also being at night with a flashing amber light made it even weird
Lol. Love Louis Theroux.
8:40 'Can we talk to you?'
Louis cracks me up.
"You don't have to go. You're not trespassing."
Absolute Madman
8:10 "Catherine what are you angry about" Just like a married couple
“I know he’s a BBC reporter I have no idea his name.”
“Louis”
“OoUiE?”
Catherine sounds positively UNHINGED. What a miserable life she must have. So sad!
Possibly or putting on a show of scientiegy bulllting tactics. They are taught to act a certain way in certain situations, if they see somebody giving them bad P.R. they are taught to bully them into silence.

Great interviewer and to see Louis truly engaged with the questions is good stuff.
Really looking forward to this. Oddly curious about the Scientology made documentary on him too.

lmfao.. the only time i have seen Louie act immature
He wasn't being immature. He was standing his ground.
"Immature"? Wrong word...He was Fair, Clear and focused
@@SAMOANSTALLION1 Yes. Also he was trying to show that he was reasonable and willing to compromise.
That's not immature, it's dealing withban unreasonable, aggressive person.
The actor with Louis filming on his iPhone is quite a great actor and has a great series on FX.
I must admit, I have a weird crush on Louis Theroux...
Me too!! lol
lily rose And me, I have done for years!!😀
Me too!
Absolutely nothing weird about that, he's handsome, kind, smart and very empathetic - what's not to crush about?!
same, and im a straight dude
wish there were more interviews like this
there was honest and candid back and forwards
truly rare
All these people with their phones out, filming each other. No one talks to each other anymore.
Interesting interview. Went to see his movie yesterday, really enjoyed it. There were times when reality and re-enactment blurred into one and I felt quite disoriented. I think this was the point though. Worth checking out
Always been a big fan of Louis... his programmes are very well put together and informative at the same time... he's so damn calm as well!!!!
I just love you Louis, it is so refreshing to see you approach controversial topics with the openness and curiosity of a child. You can show us the humans behind the ideas and practices and that is a source of great understanding
How long have you been in love?
I think I am in love with Rinke Verkerk. Great video. You are both doing good work.
When he walks in to a room, something happens and people starts to listening !! And where can you buy that calm ?? Amazing , legendary docu-maker….. Unique !!! Thanks for the effort mate ! Cheers….
Just gotta say, this lady is a fantastic interviewer!
I thought the same, she was brilliant
A bit of an exaggeration.
+The Barn Owl what's an exaggeration?
Fishtail Sophie's comment.
I don't see how that's an exaggeration? The woman was a brilliant interviewer.
Louis is so cleaver. I love how he reverses his role with the interviewer. You can see how advanced he is as a journalist.
AS --I noticed that too, but she recovered
Sharp as a knife.
Twirlyhead haahahahaha, I hoped that someone would say that
he is one cleaver beaver
Louie's Dad is also a writer
Who doesn't love Louis Theroux! Such an honest and open journalist. This was so interesting!
I love how when Louis is being interviewed, he can't stop becoming an interviewer himself.
How long have you been in love 💋
Very enjoyable interview. Both journalists are charismatic and interesting. Never heard of the female journalist before! Would like to see more of her work.
I would easily have Louis babysit my children and have total peace of mind
Take notes kids, this is how you do not start an interview. When Louis asks her questions you see the skill in which a professional can get an honest response.
Catherine is actually a “Karen”.
That girl has a really nice charisma. Who is she?
Her name is Rinke Verkerk, she's a journalist/writer
She works for an awesome Dutch investigative journalism show called Rambam. They tackle subjects like Scientology, but also things like locksmiths charging way too much, underpaid cleaners and my favourite returning subject: handing over 'found' wallets at the police office, then returning a few months later to claim them. There are a lot more like her where she comes from.

'Catherine, stay, please, you're not trespassing!!' 🤣🤣🤣 Louis is a legend!!
This is fantastic

Lmfao! That interaction on the side of the road, Louie you cheeky bastard.
Also, that interviewer is stunning, wow!
11:00 - Really good point by Louis. Sounds like he's really thought about this for a long time and has prepared himself to avoid the ways that Scientology usually tries to discredit reporters who criticize them.
man only louis theroux can turn an interview on him into a comfortable conversation getting to know each other's experiences on the topic
I wish more investigative reporters were like Louis. He's good at what he does, getting right in there & finding out the truth; so far as he can; about so many interesting subjects.
Louis is got that quiet muscle thing going for him. Its like he looks straight into people souls and says im not afraid of you.
I love the way this video was put together
Love?
I went in there full well I wasn't going to accept anything, it was maybe the most weird adventure I had. That's what they do, play act around you to make you open yourself up, that they can use.
Louis is a great journalist, sensible , tolerant, and rational. keep going Louis
Catherine? Catherine....you don't have to do this... Cathrine? ....lol
I live exactly next door to Ireland largest "Church of Scientology" and it kinda freaks me out how people are sheeple and are so easily led 🙄☘️😕
That girl keeps interrupting and she's making me nervous..trying to completely control the dialogue?
I love when people try to interview Louis. He always ends up asking more interesting questions to the interviewer.
How long have you been in love

Love how this interview was a back and forth between Louis and Rinke

The documentary is unreal, go watch it if you haven't. In the interview, loved when Louis talked about journalism integrity when explaining why he does not do undercover investigation.

You have to admire how Lois took over the interview at one point, and started interviewing her, he's so disarming, dangeriously so.
Louis work on Scientology was his end. It was an absolutely shambolic documentary. He will never recover.
Wnen is Louis' Scientology movie going to be broadcast??
+Duncan Gilchrist It's actually a film release. Pretty sure it was released in Dutch theatres recently.
+Duncan Gilchrist Louis was recently on twitter and has suggested probably Oct / Nov
Duncan Gilchrist I know it says u have to pay to watch it on you tube .
The E-meter is not a meter it puts a current across the two handles.
Probably someone from scientology knowing that you would see the notification "someone is trying to get into your email" to scare you but not actually hack u.
that video standoff at the end was great haha
i love louie : ) his documentaries are my favorite

You are cute as anything, and a great interviewer, Rinke. Insightful discussion.
They're playing "no, I am the interviewer" :)
Marty is back in. Quite sad.
They're keeping him on a short leash with 6 month installments payments, NDAs suck! Toe the line of the NDA or you won't get your next payment.....
Amazing discussion.
Great interview loved the parts of his documentary he is fabulous and hysterical I adore him

There are different classes of auditors Class 4 can audit you through Grade 1-4, Class 5 can audit you to the state of clear, etc, then class 6 class 9 and class 12.
She so pretty and a excellent interviewer I really enjoyed this video
Anyone here in 2019. Love Louis Therouxs documentaries.
