I was confused on the MicroBrute to Beatstep connections until I realized the MicroBrute's 'CV In' is not on the back panel but in the 'Mod Matrix' (cable jumper area at top right). So I connected the Beatstep's 'CV Out' to the MicroBrute's 'CV Pitch In.' After getting the connections right it works great. To answer a question from below, the Beatstep is being used as the sequencer, the MicroBrute is the tone generator, and the Moog FX is being used for effects. Thanks for the video.
If you're having trouble with your Mini or MicroBrute playing at the wrong octave after connecting the Beatstep try turning your MicroBrute off and on with the Beatstep connected and ready to go. Mine was initially playing in a very high octave but I was able to fix it this way.
Rob Robinette Thanks for that. Works as you say switching off and on but then reverts to high octave when you attempt to transpose using Brute keyboard. Any way round this that you have discovered?
David Eaton Have now connected via midi which has eliminated the pitch issue. Does anyone know how to configure the settings so that the Brute's keyboard will transpose the sequence from the Beatstep? It must be possible according to the video and Arturia teccies so I am obviously missing a trick.
Rob Robinette The pitch played by the Mini or MicroBrute is the sum of : - The last received MIDI note (keyboard or external MIDI) - The CV input Use an external MIDI keyboard or the Minibrute's keyboard to transpose the CV input. You can go down to octave -3 and press the lowest note if you want to revert to the tuning you get when you turn on the machine.
Just received my beatstep. I notice that the CV outputs STOP sending when I toggle into seq mode. So I can either edit the sequence and not hear it, or hear it but not edit it... .Clearly there is some mystery setting I don't understand here.....??
You're able to us the Microbrute's built in arpeggiator with the Beatstep Pro? That would definitely put it on my list. I'm rebuilding my rig around the BSP.
Helloes! How to save the channel with the set preset ? Theres a bug ? i cant save channell with the saved preset , nor does ableton see the beatstep channell. ( it allways only responds to ch 1 )
Hi, I'm assuming you could use the same set-up but replace the MicroBrute with the MiniBrute? Or is it essential to have the Mod Matrix? Thanks in advance.
Hey, thanks for the video. I wired my beatstep to my Minibrute the same way, but I guess I got problems with the CV-Connection. After wiring, the Minibrute only sounds like a selfoscillating machine with the sound changing 3 octaves up. And it's producing sound even if the master volume is turned down completly. Do you have any idea, what could be wrong?
when using the beatstep in standalone mode as a sequencer, how do you set the BPM? Plan to use it with an Arturia minibrute and was wondering if this is possible without connecting up to a computer?
You turn the big knob to set the tempo. Since there is no display, though, you can't tell the exact BPM, so you have to do it by feel. It would be handy (for me) if there were a tap function.

C'è sempre da appreñdere in qeusti video. Con gli step sequencer mi pare si sia tornati alla sostaza originale della musica elettronica.

the Arturia Software Control Center has a CV offset, i think.... you can set your default "octave" pitch there.....
3 questions:
- Can it trigger " ACCENT" ?
- Can it save sequences?
- Can it run 2 parrallel / random 1-8 sequences?
now you convinced me to get a Beatstep! ;) great demo..
giving me Tangerine Dreams ...awesome!
Excellent, thank you for posting this.
Enrico is THE man
Was just interested in a beatstep. now I have to get that synth and delay also ^-^
Nice demo. thanks :-)

Some great sounds here! I wonder if the polyfonic feel comes from the Moogerfooger?
Can you chain a sequence with another one and so ????

Only the Minibrute has the Arpeggiator, you'd need external instruments for Arping a Micro
Nice demo. How did you set up the keyboard transpose?
Did not understand how Micro receives sync clock which LED is blinking? It should receive Gate and Pitch only... Don't get it...
There's no gate in on my Microbrute? Can't get it connected.

someone knows if i can sync arpegios of my midified juno 60?
thankyou a lot
can i use the beat step like a keyboard?
Nice demo but how about one without the moog fx.. It's a demo for the beatstep right?
Sounds like a soundtrack from TRON haha, nice really nice!
Please could you tell us the patching for the realtime keyboard transpose, as I think that is really cool :-)
can you "trigger" the MicroBrute's eight sequences, independently, FROM the Beatstep Pro ????
I can control a live voice effects on Abbleton whit this?
i only see everyone sequencing with the beatstep but i can also use it to trigger drum samples when in controler mode right?
I'm wondering the same thing!
Alexi Giguère The Beastep can be used as a generic midi controller, so yes, you basicly can program it to do anything you want in your DAW.

Great video! Thanks for sharing. What do you mean by "at your own risk" to transpose notes with the synth keyboard?
Can i use a Beatstep pro to sequence a melody on my KORG M1 ?
Can this run stand alone or does it have to be connected to a computer?
can these midi sequence older rack units?
where is there a pitch in on the microbrute? Theres one on the patch bay but if I use that it starts the pitch really really high
***** lol!! hi again :v
Well it's the Moog delay that does everything in this video, really...
Thanks for this great video!
One question, the beatstep sequence can be also be transposes in real time by a ms20mini keyboard ?
You ever get an answer?

I use Live BPM app on my phone to get BPM readouts. Very precise - very reliable. No cables or connections - reads the audio.
wait... is this in key?
i thhink recondite uses arturia
can the beatsep be synced to the daw via midi while sequencing cv?
it can be synched thry USB connection...
It can't be done simultaneously. The Beatstep functions as either a sequencer or a controller.
Rob Robinette Can you sequence your synthesizer with this via midi connection?
Desing?
typo
what did you mean to type? lol
Again, witch one are you using as a sequencer exactly?
The guys that dislike this are goofs.
