    The later takes where he really starts changing the dynamics and using the rims and changing the tones of the toms sound incredible. No matter how good a drummer someone is, they can always change, improve and experiment

    This man is one of my all-time favs in no small part because he hits his snare like it owes him money. Unbelievably talented drummer.

      Check Corey Fonville, esp playing with Super Blue. Saw it live, and he gets a crack out of the snare like few others.

    I love Take 2 because it's the perfect example of drumming yourself into a corner and miscalculating how much time you have. He kind of undershot the downbeat there which is totally fine and happens to everyone, but seeing someone at his level do it gives me a bit of confidence. It's like watching Michael Jackson trip while dancing, it's totally understandable that it happens, only thing that matter is the recovery and Larnell recovered flawlessly!

    I cannot even conceive what his brain is thinking or planning with this type of flow. Mad respect for his choices so musical and interesting. Not just chopping his @ss off. One of our beloved modern greats!! Big fan!

    Take one is just pure energy, and it seems he's in a complete flow state just doing all the amazing shit he can do! take 4 is that energy Chanelled with his thoughts and creativity that add breaks, dynamics and phrasing that makes the solo fit well into the song play to the music,

    the "mistakes", which i dont even think i caught any beside one on take 2 where the big "ahhhh" appeared on the screen, is just the robot inside of him attempting to blend in with the rest of humanity as to not raise any suspicion

    The finesse with which Larnell Lewis plays with when he plays like that is simply phenomenal, so technical but he makes it seem easy

    This is just flipping amazing! If you listen to this with your eyes closed, you wouldn't even notice the flub. Just smooth with it. An absolute pro!

    I need my tom rolls to sound like that for goodness sake I’m going to work my ass off this year to get there! Larnell is such an inspiration man, musically my favorite drummer in the world.

      Not to take away from his skill or playing since he’s one of my all-time favs, but a good chunk of that sound is his tuning. Make sure you got a nice fat, cutting tuning and it’ll help you get there a lot faster.
      Again not discounting his skill at all! I mean, his micro-timing is immaculate

I’m going to sign up for Drumeo because I don’t want to make any bad habits and build a strong foundation. I might actually hire a teacher if I can find one

    If you have any doubt that he could be human, the man is like 9 feet tall and as large as the toms in front of him... I swear to God I'm 6'3" and almost had a heart attack when I saw how high his throne is during a clinic. Larnell is a UNIT y'all

      I try to get the whole song in at least 3 takes
      First play thru is my tightest
      Then consecutively looser and more open to trying something wild in take 2/3
      Then I try to get comped then if I have an idea or I need to punch something in bam
      Done on to the next

    Amazing to see the creative process in action. Seeing how many rhythms and methods can be squeezed out of a simple backing. Pushing his skills to every corner of his ability to see where they brake down. He seems like a man who learns something everytime he sits at the kit and craves and wants the kit to hit him back and teach him how the song needs to be played. Beautiful

    Incredible. Mix is so tight, so balanced. I like the first take. Such a tasty tune -- gotta love that Latin feel, and IMO, its the most difficult rhythm to solo over, and he made it look easy. Loved the Gadd reference in the 4th take. Crazy thing is that I felt take one was the best and after the second listen it was. He's a beast.
