Hi Larry!
I just made this! I cost me $12 dollars! And as a college student, that's AMAZING
I left out bell pepper, added cheese and It was delicious. Wish I could send a picture.
Stay golden!
ragusajr100 4
Next time add peanut butter, cinnamon, sardines, mayonnaise and diced bananas. It really gives it an extra kick if you know what I mean.
@@liammay7756 Don't forget the apples. Best if yet unripened.
12 dollars......
50 cents elbow macaroni
30 cents 2 big yellow onion
2 euro pound of beef
80 cents 1 big red pepper
40 cents minced tomato can
about 4 euro for me
As a Hungarian, I find this very intriguing! Americans have added lots of twists to the original recipe. I gotta be honest, I was a little scared when you added Italian seasoning and soy sauce, but hey, it looks fine. I will definitely try this.
P.S. Try adding a bit of (smoked?) paprika to it! It's the cornerstone of most Hungarian dishes. It will give the entire dish into a beautiful red color.
Good idea! I’m not Hungarian, but my mom made a simple goulash recipe with egg noodles and chunks of beef. I don’t know how traditional it was, but I loved it!
This is nothing like Hungarian Goulash . it's a completely different dish,
@@lantrick I was thinking: "There's nothing left but the NAME!". I have eaten this hundreds of times by the way. There are different names for it!
Tbh, Goulash is more of a regional dish but the variation that came to America was Hungarian hence why it is called Goulash here. However, since it was a regional dish it changed even more because every state in America has their own variation. The variation in Michigan for example uses red beans
@@TNTspaz And here in Texas, we might use Rotel Tomatoes w/Chilis and chili powder/cajun seasoning instead of Italian seasoning......kind of a "Tex-Mex Goulash.
I made a version of this last night with slight alterations and it turnedout fantastic, did half beef half sausage, used stock instead of water and added beans and mushrooms.
sounds like a winner to me
Larry, your goulash vaguely resembles what they used to serve us at school lunches, only 100 times more succulent! It's meatier, richer, and more drool inducing! This is one of those meals that I wish could last forever! I would never want to stop eating it!
+Juanelo1946 Chuckwagon special is what they called it at our school.
+Juanelo1946 The stuff in school was made with mystery meat John!!! LOL Thank you for watching!
I making this tonight! I grew up on this and I love it still. I usually serve the noddles separate only bc I always have leftovers and the noodles get soggy after a few days. Classic dish! Love it 😀
Larry, i think this recipe could have been in your budget meals, feed a family of 4 easily with this, and healthy, looks delicious
I made this recipe and it was okay the day I fixed it but I'd say you almost need to make this the day before you plan on eating it because the leftovers the next day were REALLY, REALLY GOOD! The flavors bloomed overnight in the fridge! I was very impressed with the leftovers! :)
I agree with this and other similar dishes, they are always better the next day! Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for giving it a try!
Larry
I made this tonight for dinner. It was amazing and the whole family really enjoyed it. The only thing I changed was I added chicken broth instead of water. Definitely will be making it again.
Chicken broth will definitely add some flavor! Thanks for watching, glad everyone enjoyed it!
Chicken broth nahhh
I'm making this again hahaha I made it last week and I couldn't get enough of it I ate it all week long great recipe
This is what my mother made and I knew it to be Goulash. I recently made it for a church dinner. I called it “Old Fashion American Goulash” it was a hit.
my friend Anne used to make this for me and all the guys at work. She use to put light red kidney beans in her goulash, she was so funny, would raise hell if someone used dark red! This dish was a hit with all of us, and she always had leftovers for lunch...
@James clark Says the trash, good job sir you just won an award for best stupid. o:
@Kevin Chrisner, you were lucky to have a warm meal at work. Did she add the beans in her goulash in place of the pasta or did she use both beans and pasta? Maybe use pasta one wk and beans the next. Thanks Kevin, sounds good to me :)
@@ellamone9998 she would put both, the elbow noodles and light red kidney beans, it was good, im sure the seasoning would make a difference. Whatvdo you seaon with, oregano, basil, stuff like that, or do even seaon?
@Kevin, I use Italian seasoning or just basil oregano, little garlic and parsley. Salt to taste. If you make it like in the video but add beans don't add too much pasta as it will get too starchy unless you boil the pasta separate. I love the flavor combo of this :)
Comfort food at it's finest. (Americanized) I remember my Mom cooking this when I was growing up. Quick, easy & so good! Great job Wolfe! TFS :))
+Kulinary Kreations By Kelly Thank you Kelly!
@@TheWolfePit Your mother did you a disservice by calling this Goulash. I bet she had a bunch of other words that are culturally unacceptable these days also.
This absolutely brings back memories of childhood and my mother's goulash! Thanks for sharing!
Our Mother use to make this all the time when we were growing up. This makes me think of home and Mama. Thank You. I will have to try this.
Well I did it, the only minor variation I did to it is adding a can of chili beans and a can of corn. OMG!!!!!!! We loved it, thanks for the tip!!!!!
I really like the beans and corn addition! Thanks for giving it a try!
***** I think you would like it, it seems you and I agree on what is good. Also, when eating it, sour cream and sharp cheddar sprinkled on top. Fresh French bread and a glass of milk with it!!!!!
kidney beans would rock
nice idea!...."kids! everybody in the pool"
Lois Austin my mom called it slumdog into LOL I add a pack of taco seasoning as well 😋
You're a master of comfort food cooking Larry! well done, as always.
+michael landry That explains my weight problem Michael!!! LOL Thank you for watching!!
Oh yes I need to make some of this asap! Thank you and God bless!
Guess family have different ways to make this meal. Burger, pasta, tomato, green peas, salt. Basic, but it is fantastic and great on a cold day.
My Aunt is 99 years old,she always added a can of corn to hers, yes and she still cooks it when she gets a taste for some, it's good with garlic bread !!!!!!!!
Uhh....no onion or garlic?
...bruh
Just made this for dinner tonight! So delicious and inexpensive! I added some chopped mushrooms and substituted out 2 of the cups of water for beef stock for some extra flavor. This is so good I'll be making it for years to come!
Yep, the soy sauce brings all the flavors together!
Great job, beautiful video
Love this quick n simple delicious goulash making this right know have all the ingredients and was just wondering what to do with my 5 lb of ground beef, hey got 5 hungry teens n hubby so i need something fulfilling and this is it.
I made this for my family this weekend, and my dad told me his mom used to make this all the time. It brought back memories for him. It was so good! Thank You! :)
Glad everyone enjoyed it!!
Thank you for this recipe. I usually use part pasta sauce. I'm making it now. Kind of a stressful day and I am so glad I wanted something easy. Everything is cooking. All I have to do is wait until my son wakes up to add the pasta. He works am shift so I never know if he's going to want to eat when he gets home or after some sleep. Wonderful! And a beautiful day I can now focus on.
Larry, finally got around to making this. Your right the soy sauce works. Good recipe.
Greatly appreciate the quick, concise instruction. Most people drag it out to 30 minutes.
Made this last night, came very tasty and was kid approved. The only thing I may change is may decrease the amount of water and final cooking time after adding the elbows so they don’t come so soft. Also will try low sodium soy sauce, was still a little to salty for my taste but that’s me. Otherwise all the other ingredients made a very tasty dish. Also be advised the amounts listed make allot of food, so if you’re only feeding say 4, you may be able to cut everything in half.
My grandmother through whatever was in her kitchen to make the goulash.....anything and it was soooo good
Looks delicious. Very similar to my goulash recipe. Only I add bacon. But I add bacon to pretty much everything. :)
Joe, bacon makes everything better!! LOL Thanks for watching!
💕🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓😊
Awesome recipe to make. We ate this when I was little and we were very poor but it is truly filling. Take your time in making this the way you want now that you have the ingredients.
Larry, Looks good. We add some different spices and make a little sweet in our area. Now I'm hungry :) Have a great day.
+Tess Cooks 4u Thanks Tess!!
What do you add to make it sweet
@@AJ-jf2ui mayonnaise.
@@AJ-jf2ui sugar of course ,just to balance off the bitterness, but you don’t need much
I love how you left the peppers and onions in bigger pieces - looks even yummier that way and I do love to be able to bite into the bigger pieces. Thank you for yet another delicious recipe and memory from my childhood!!
My mom never made this, she stole my childhood from me.
That's why I live in her basement playing with legos and Linkin logs at age 45.
🇮🇪☘️🍺
I'm in my forties & my dad just made s big ol pan of this & brought me a nice yummy helping. He has called it goulash all my life.
Yum! I haven't had Goulash in...I don't remember how long. Looks perfect. Wish I could sample that for you!
And... it was delish! Made a couple of changes: yellow bell pepper, Tapatio hot sauce in the ground beef, added a small can of diced green chilies, skipped the bay leaf and used mini penne instead of macaroni. Goulash-ariffic! Many thanks!
I made this, last night. I am elderly & consider myself a good cook, but I never had a recipe for Goulash. Your Goulash was the BEST I have ever had! I had people staying with us, and we all just loved it! It did make a lot & it would be good for a Church potluck or to take to someone who is not able to cook, etc. It made a LOT & I did not mind at all because I was able to freeze half of it for another day! Thanks so much for your recipe & your good instructions! :)
fyi, it was amazing!!! the reason i chose your recipe is because the ingredients you used reminds me of how I had it growing up. for all those haters and skeptics out there, please try it, it will blow your mind. thank you "TheWolfPit" for your instructions and recipe, it was fantastic.
My kind of goulosh yum!!!
Adding a can of rotel tomatoes is good also.
I have not had goulash since I was a teen and I had been craving it for months now. Had never made it before and turned to UA-cam to find recipes. Yours was the second one I viewed and it sounded both tasty and basic to make. Dude....I made a batch on May 18th and it was absolutely delicious! Thanks ever so much for the posting and I shall follow your profile and recipes to come. :)
Great job on this video. Can't wait to try it. Thank you.👍🇺🇸
Great video! A family favourite growing up here too. We would use tomato soup in place of the tomato sauce, which I still use to this day. So easy and feeds an army in a pinch. Some nice warm crusty bread and you're good to go!
Comfort food, defined!
+SmokeyGoodness Thanks Dan!
+TheWolfePit nice job
Now that looks great & so happy to see you did not use sugar in this dish. I will definitely try your recipe. Thank you
Wow it's easy, thanks I was thinking of making some, then saw your channel. Thanks.
Making this my 2nd time so re-watching 😋😋😋 Thank you!
awesomeness!....and a freshly grated Parmesan cheese to top
Yummy!!
I make this a few times a month minus the green pepper and use ground chicken instead. We love this recipe. Nice job!!!
Ahhh.. I always really enjoy these. Not for the video content, entertainment value or the recipe, but rather the opportunity to relish in the wisdom and musings of so many “master chefs” in the comments. Rarely will so many experts gather on one forum and share their expertise. Doesn’t matter if the video portrays professional chefs, who have dedicated their entire life to their art, or simply someone sharing a dish they enjoy making, we will all be warned to NOT be impressed. It’s through the criticism of others, that these keyboard gourmets try to impress us with “their” importance. It’s clear, one need not spend a lifetime honing their skills, in the kitchen. By simply reading the comment section of these videos, one can benefit from the teachings of the TRUE culinary masters who gather here. When they post their wisdom and insight in comments, scribes record every word, so future generations may benefit from their teachings. I for one, am humbled in their presence and thank them all for their guidance. 🙄 With that said, I want to thank you for posting this video, it looks great and I can’t wait to try it !
@ Randy Porter - VERY well said!!
TheWolfePit - By the way, IF, by some chance, the FDA reads the objections, then performs a chemical analysis of the ingredients you suggest and your recipe, THEN submits it to the Hungarian Consulate for a ruling, AND they determine that the dish isn’t EXACTLY “Goulash”, from an ethnic and legal standards..
I don’t give a s*** ! It looks great anyway and I thank you for sharing ! I guess you could call it “Skillet Goulash-me-Not”, or “Bite Me Bordelaise” in response to the objectors ..hee, hee..😁
@@randyporter3491 LOL
😂
Best Goulash recipe it’s soooo good! Thank you
I think it looks great. It's his recipe - he can call it whatever he wants, so get over it. Even if it isn't "goulash" as YOU know it, I'm sure it tastes great. I'll give it a try.
I agree
At my grandma's this was made every friday and whatever leftovers that were in the fridge went in it was delicious
My mom used to make this when me and my brother was kids
i noticed that that too!
i grew up loving pasta, and you make a mean looking goulash.love all the ingredients in yours. they all marry so well together.this is for sure a family pleaser.thank you so much for sharing this with us today.VERY TASTY.
+WannaBite Thank you very much!!!
Very good American goulash. Awesome brother.
I'll have to try it, looks yummy. I have never tried soy sauce or dry, uncooked pasta in my goulash. An Italian blend grated cheese is good on top of it, too, once it is on your plate.
I have not had this dish sinch since I was a kid growing up in Philly, God no's I loved it😋
I've made this and it is inexpensive, easy to make and pretty good. And a lot of people already have these ingredients at hand.
Your goulash looks really good. Well done!
+In the Kitchen with Jonny I told you great minds think alike Jonny!! Thanks for watching!
Perfect! No extra oil used, lots of vegitables, onions & tomato......lovely.....mmmmmmmmmmmmm I'm gonna try this.
I made this, and it turned out fantastic. Only thing I did different... as I like a little more flavor in mine, was used 4 cups beef broth and only 2 cups water. It gave it a richer flavor. Topped with a bit of cheese when done... was amazing. Thanks for this!
Never heard it called that in Canada, we only make the Hungarian style with stew beef, tons of onions and lotsa paprika and sour cream, heaped on top of dumplings or egg noodles , but it sure looks yummy regardless.
Also known as American Chop Suey!😊
When I moved to New England I heard of this dish called American chop suey, and I had no idea it was the macaroni my mom had been cooking for all those years!
I luv the idea of saving time and more pots to wash by not having to cook the pasta separate. Looks good. Can't wait to try it.😀
Lots of annoying comments. dude made it the way HE makes it. don't have anything nice to say STFU. looked really good to me an i been cookin for 40yrs.
Thomas Luczak People are free to say their opinions lol
Thomas Luczak i agree!
TY cindy.
You can say your opinions without being rude. They used to tell people you can't yell fire in a crowded theater to teach this concept. Inciting people to anger or fear is not the way a civilized human being acts.
that has been proven to be false in court even though I agree with what your saying
Damn, it’s like being back home, 70 yrs ago
Great stuff
More of a chili mac without the chili seasoning. But one great dish when you have kids to feed. I'd add some celery and maybe less bell pepper. As for those people complaining that it's not Hungarian goulash, well it's an American thing and get used to it! When you have 5 kids to feed, stuff like this is reasonably cheap and easy, and kids will eat it.
Wonderful home style cooking. He is so comical too.
Did this receipe exactly how you recommend and it was amazing. Thank you Mr. Wolfe
Quick and easy a lazy day favorite meal for my family 😋
Been following your recipe for 4 years ..love this
American Chop Suey!
Slop suey
I have never ate pasta in my almost 80 years, but yours looks so good that I could almost be tempted.
Pretty much how I make this; never thought about using soy sauce, I'll definitely have to give it a shot! I like mine more saucy, so I add more tomato sauce as you said, and either water or beef broth when I have it on hand. This dish is a go-to, I always love it!
To me, this dish isn't goulash but rather chili mac minus the Tex-Mex seasoning. Great idea to use soy sauce to deepen color and add umami flavor. Looks very tasty. Will make it when weather finally cools off.
excellent example of good ole comfort food. looks delicious larry
+doublejbbq Thank you Jerry!
This brought back a lot of memories. Thanks.
Love this recipe, but I add a good amount of red wine, parm cheese to finish and fresh basil. But never would add the sou sauce.
It should be Worcestershire sauce, not soy. I think he got confused.
I love this stuff and grew up in it. My Grandma just called it chili mac! She added a bit of celery seed ~ Delicious
That looks great! It looks just like the goulash that my house mate would prepare for himself from time to time. It's kind of like an American version of Chop Suey. I have a recipe just like this at my disposal, and I am going to have to make this for my brother and I. Thanks for sharing this recipe. 😊
Made this tonight. Enjoyed it! I will make again and try variations.
Larry, another con- concotion i'd come up with, lol, and the family says i'm not eating that, then they taste, well maybe i'll eat a little, then it is all gone, lol
Hi Larry, I could not remember the last time I had Goulash so I cooked this for my family. I substituted meatballs for a kid friendly effect and added spicy sausage. Very good, thank you for the suggestion!
Wow, I am making this for Sunday dinner! Thank you so much for sharing! Bless you!
+Desiree Fontana Thank you very much Desiree!!! Please let me know how you like it!
Larry
I loved goulash as a kid but haven't had any In years this recipe seems straight forward and I will try it. Thanks for sharing.
add mushrooms too. yummy.
Definitely going to try that next time!
We make your dishes a lot and they are delicious and affordable.
Someone asked me one day if I had a good goulash recipe and I wasn't sure what it was. Now I know!
+TosTinMan EasyCooking It's good stuff Jim! Give it a try!! Thanks for watching!
TosTinMan EasyCooking Go niners!!!!!
You still don't know. Goulash is great. This is Mac and beef spaghetti sauce. They both are delish but not the same.
This isn't goulash.
It was delicious, here is my suggestion, and I find it quite helpful. I break up the ground beef before I put the ground beef in the pan this way the meat is distributed evenly. Try it some time.
Here's a recipe that brings me back Larry.
So many differing names for this stick to your ribs classic.
So darn tasty, and always better then next day!
+Tango Joe Yeah buddy, we had this often growing up .....especially on nasty days like today!! Thanks Joe!!
It's simple AND easy. What a concept.
I love these cooking tutorials and the background music haunts my dreams. Maybe not in a bad way, but still.
My mom made a very similar dish , it's funny how a taste will take you back 40 years , I miss you mom ! Nice post , new sub !👍👍
When I was growing up my mom called this "American Chop Suey"! But it was pretty much exactly what you made here. At school they called it Goulash. I honestly had forgotten all about this dish I haven't had it in decades. Thanks for reminding me about it.
+MikeTheBarber63 Yep, I've heard it called American Chop Suey too !! Hope you give it a try Mike! Thanks for watching!
Larry
made it for dinner tonight,It was great, reminded me of my grandmas.
+Joseph Fajfar Glad you enjoyed it Joseph! Thank you for watching and giving it a try!
Larry
Thank you so much for posting your recipes. I seem to be finding many of my childhood favorites from your you tube channel.
Wish I had a bowl of it right now..! Looks so yummy..! 🍜😍
My wife used to make goulash with medium flat egg noodles, ( or was it thin?) Cream of mushroom soup, ground beef, onions and peas. It was out of this world. Little bread and butter on the side.
My Hungarian grandma makes it like this
I made this and it was delicious and brought back memories of my moms cooking....thanks for the memories
Howdy!
I made a double batch of your recipe for a church luncheon and it all disappeared. I managed to get a spoonful for myself because I was a little late getting downstairs where the lunch was being held.
Definitely a keeper!
Thank you.
-Tony
I love this goulash recipe. I know I commented a few years ago but I wanted to comment again and say this is my go-to goulash recipe.
That looks delicious, Larry! I am going to make this for sure!!! Thank you for sharing your recipe with us!
