    I used to make a lot of bread and did a lot of baking (cakes, pies and cobblers). I've sold carrot cakes and coconut cakes for $50 each back in 2005. That was right after I retired the last time, in my townhome in California. It was fun but I don't have time to do that now. I used to make all my bread. It is so much better than any store bought bread. After I came back to Texas I took a class on making fancy wedding cakes. I did a few for friends but that is so tedious and so time consuming I doubt I'll ever do that again. But, it was fun to do at the time.
    Y'all stay safe.
    And enjoy that yummy bread.

I’m not a good cake baker. I can do a few simple cakes but tend to make pies and cobblers so much more. Bless you friend!

    I've been making bread for years. Have about 9 various recipes I flip through. I've done some Japanese milk breads as well. This is the first recipe Ive seen that uses evaporated milk. Is there an advantage to evap milk over regular? I did copy this recipe down, will be making it Saturday. Thanks for sharing.

    • @LittleCountryCabin
      @LittleCountryCabin  2 роки тому

      Thank you for asking! I’ve been making this recipe for years and the evaporated milk came about when, as a young mother, I found myself without milk in the refrigerator and thankfully had a can of evaporated. My family loved it and it’s been my go to for this particular recipe. I find that it seems to give the bread a lighter texture and flavor. You certainly can use fresh milk instead. Since we’ve had our sweet family milk cow I’ve been using her rich creamy milk as well. Thank you so much for watching and God bless!❤️

    Thank you so much! This recipe is so closes to my mom's. My mom gave me many years ago a yeast bread recipe almost like your. It's the closest I can find. I lost hers recipe I've been all over try to find the recipe. It was from the Navy recipe that she cut down to make it for her family. I never tasted bread like hers. She uses scold milk in her and she made a whole in the flour before she added the yeast. Where can I find this book?

    • @LittleCountryCabin
      @LittleCountryCabin  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you for the kind comment! My daddy loved when I baked bread because he said it reminded him of his childhood. I always made him his own loaf🥰. Isn’t it nice that bread making can be wrapped in beautiful memories! The Back to Basics book can be hard to find these days. You might try Thrift books. It’s a great used book website. eBay can be another great source. Make sure it’s the Readers Digest version. There is another book by the same name but it’s not the same book. Thank you for watching and have a blessed day❤️

      Goodness I must have edited that out😳. About 30 min but ideally you want a dark golden,firm crust and the loaf should sound hollow when tapped. Dear God💗❤️♥️💞🙏in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the , life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness.
    I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin.
    You said in the bible that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.
    Right now I confess Jesus as my Lord. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved. Amen.
