  • There are many components that make up a candle; physical aspects (container, wax, wick) & the process (melting procedures/temperatures). All of these components impact the final candle. Changing just one can result in a very different candle. Wax: Each comes with dis/advantages. Research each. Wicks are SO important. Burn tests are crucial. The wick should have a small flame that burns slow & steady. Color: Make sure it’s specifically made for candles. NOTE: I purchased liquid colorants then put them in a dropper bottle for precise distribution (bottles are linked). **Keeping notes: The path to making a great candle starts with keeping good notes. Conduct burn tests. *Follow recommendations in the beginning, but only burn tests will provide the perfect temperatures for melting, adding fragrance, & pouring. *For paraffin candles Measure & melt wax. Heat wax to 185 degrees Fahrenheit, not over 200 degrees Fahrenheit (93 degrees Celsius) + add color & fragrance oil. Stir wax for 1 minute. Cool wax to pouring temperature of 150 degrees Fahrenheit (65 degrees Celsius). While the wax temperature lowers, preheat glass containers to 130-150 degrees F (55-65 degrees Celsius) for better wax adhesion to the glass (use heat gun or a low heat oven for 15-20 minutes). Pour wax in containers slowly. Save the left-over wax for topping off candle. ** For better wax adhesion to the container, cool candles as slowly as possible; you can cool them in a heated oven, in an insulated box, or even with a heated blanket. I don’t go through this trouble, but this is your choice! Do not move containers until wax is completely cooled. Once candle is completely cooled (about 3-5 hours), top it off. Leave some space at the top. Cure candles 24 hours +. Keep out of direct sunlight (sunlight discolors candles). TESTS: Use small batches for formulating new recipes to test. For testing new ingredients, you must have a control candle to compare it to. If testing scent throw, place lit candle in a designated small room (bathroom) with door closed. Walk in after 1-2 hours to smell & take notes.

I have Pam, thanks for asking! Been making them for 15 years & I'm JUST now getting the hang of it. I'd always put too much fragrance, way too big of a wick - Just stuff that I thought would make a more, highly scented candle, but never did! I am going to start over & actually follow the rules & stop trying to trick the candle into becoming something it can't!

Eu sabia que havia um problema de comunicação porque colocar a fragrância a 60° significa que a cera seria resfriada abaixo da temperatura ambiente e já teria começado a endurecer!
