- I tried this British staple, I didn't have high hopes for this one, I don't really like our local beans in tomato sauce. Come check out what I think as well as some improvements I would make if I were to do this again.

Grated cheese on the top and a couple of minutes under the grill until the cheese melts and is piping hot. Job done.
That would be great, also plenty of marmite, I'm not eating beans on toast without it ever again!
@@TalentlessCooking Splash of Lea & Perrins (Worcestershire Sauce) on top also does the job.
@WTU208 my coworker uses it on everything, he dresses his salad with it.
It’s a great winter’s evening snack.
Its criminal to go through life without having beans on toast ...
It's so foreign of a concept to us that it's almost asking if you tried bugs. I have converted a few people to the enjoyment of beans on toast!
Absolute british delicacy! Just subbed to you, good luck on your goals for 2022!
Thanks so much!
Most people will say Heinz baked beans are the best but they dropped the baton a few years ago reducing tomato content so Branston are now the best. -Many still waiting to convert. Butter on the bread is best. btw petrol in UK is about $2 a litre here too.
That's interesting, I wish I had access to that.
Branston beans are superior 👌🏻
Correct!
Need to butter the toast, add grated cheese while the beans are on the hob and mix it in.
Brown sauce or Worcester sauce on top 👌🏻
That sounds great!
Hiya, we also call them baked beans people think it's a really big thing in Britain it's just a simple lunch time food, try buttering the toast and put a little pepper on top, by the way you nailed it with the fried egg idea it's lush, love the channel keep up the good work, all the best from England .
I think I'll try that next time. Glad your enjoying the videos!
It's tasty with the egg and hot sauce on toast. Go for it!
They are haricot beans and you need lashings of butter on your toast. x
Yes, I like the "sog" but have what bread you like, only make sure you butter the bread first, you can also put grated cheese on top and pop under the grill to melt then a dash of Worcestershire sauce yum! Also, it's not a breakfast meal, it's a quick lunch or supper meal generally. Love the nails btw 😀👍
That does sound good, thanks!
You NEED to butter the toast.
I might revisit again with butter and some other things, butter doesn't go on everything and I'm very honest with my opinion on it.
Butter is a must with beans on toast. It adds a new depth of flavour.
I tried beans on dry toast once, when restricting my calories. It wasn't the same.
Some swear by cheese, but I can't eat cheese.
You've GOT to butter your toast .... the butter will mix well with the beans.
Butter!
Yes, we found out about butter... ua-cam.com/video/CUvzHs0bU48/v-deo.htmlsi=nl8qylE0J_iQpxuq
Best with brown sause.
Need some hp brown sauce on that mate
That might be worth a try. They call it steak sauce here and my inner chef wants nothing to do with it. Sounds like you guys have better use for this sauce.
It's supposed to be pre sliced bread. You won't find anyone make beans on toast with nice french bread, it's always the cheap pre sliced square bread.
Lol
First thing first, try holding your folk like an adult, your not a child,
Try putting some butter on your toast, yes butter !
You may also have them with brown sauce ( HP SAUCE) and a poached egg, and some people also like to add a little gratted cheese.
( the beans are actually haricot beans, which we import from north america and it is estimated that approximately 1.5 million cans of HEINZ BAKED BEANS are sold in BRITAIN every day.
We rarely do we eat them for breakfast, but some do, they are mainly eaten for lunch or at tea time ( 5-6pm) or as a snack for supper 🇬🇧👍
After decades of working with my hands, they don't work great, and I have to adapt to that. Second, I have an updated beans on toast video where I try viewers' suggestions. Third white navy beans are haricot beans.
@TalentlessCooking Sorry to hear about that, but most Americans and some Canadians, haven't yet learned the art of using a knife and fork properly ?
Cut then swap over, cut then swap over your fork, I have visited both my relations in the States and in Canada, and it's so comical to me to see them eating ! 🤣🤣🤣 but then I'm a BRIT 🇬🇧👍
@miketrevarrow9795 it's a different technique in what is considered proper. I would say that the European style the fork is upside down. I did have a proper form before my accident at 17, after that it was completely abandoned. If I'm out at an event, I try to be proper, but I end up scraping or dropping my utensils.
I don't eat Heinz beans, too much liquid in it, another brand i have has hardly any liquid, and the taste is much better, less sweet.
What brand is that?
Branson beans are better than Heinz, not as much sauce
I was thinking about trying them, are they much different in flavor?
@@TalentlessCooking I think they are miles better than Heinz, less sauce so they taste richer and they have more flavour. Lob a bit of grated cheese in with the beans when you heat them up and you have a culinary delight😃🇬🇧
