Kinda silly that they didn’t put the option to connect it to the tv with the cords and just have it be a full soundbar.
I would say this is pretty good innovation from SONY. Creating a home theatre surround sound/spatial audio experience that can be used for mobile devices (which lets face it is now how most people consume content now) and that is portable is a great idea.
Thanks for your time to share your opinion. Great
For surround sound it depends on the source as well, some movies don't use the effects speakers as much so it won't be as loud and with typical home theater setups you may find you have to turn up the surrounds even with a wired system.
Its a shame this doesn’t support any kind of surround sound format. If it had wifi and tidal/apple music/amazon music integration for spatial music it would be a lot closer to being worth the price.
Interesting design. Sounds quality is good even listening from my iPhone.
I would have considered it (on sale) if it could connect to a subwoofer since it would definitely be used for a TV when not used for its portability.
Where I can get it in California?
this could be a game changer! Sony has done what no other company has ever done!
Are you able to totally off the main speaker if not in use?
there's no noticeable lag when watching movies?
Com on it Sony you know it's going to sound good and it's going to cost
Hi. May i ask if i connet it to the tv, can it be controlled from the app?
I can control the volume and sound settings from my phone when they are running from my computer so I assume so? but haven't tested this personally.
My opinion or trying these on various shops first-hand:
The rear speakers are close to non existence
How is it for the pure music listening?
For a £500 unit it's disappointing to say the least... but it's ok...
The USB-C port on the HT-AX7 might connect to a SUB-C hub with an auxiliary jack. Then if the HT-AX7 has a phone app ... the possibilities could be very entertaining.
I would love this as a soundbar. I like it and the design, but I honestly can’t see someone dragging that thing outside. The design alone looks like it’s something that belongs in the home, but if it stays in the home then there are better alternatives.
Can the detachable speakers be used also as stereo front speakers?
No they function solely as rear surrounds or mono speakers to spread music there are no other functions they perform.
Will it work on the ps5?
Is Bluetooth latency a problem with this product ?
No, i didn't have any issues with latency when watching TV.
Excellent video. Cool idea for a portable speaker, but at $500, it's a hard pass. For $200 I could get a really nice JBL portable speaker and for $300 I could get a really decent sound bar....
Except neither would do what this speaker does. How would the sound bar be portable? How could you use it for mobile devices (which this speaker is made for). And how would the JBL speaker do surround sound/ spatial audio for watching movies and tv shows? All I'm saying is that you are literally comparing different things. This is not a party speaker, nor is it meant to replace the sound bar of a TV. It's a literal portable surround sound system for mobile devices (smart phones, tablets) and neither of the two things you mentioned perform that function. And lets face it.....these days most people now consume their content on mobile devices. Most people under 30 don't even own a TV. So this is a pretty damn clever idea. This is actually a product that is addressing current trends.
@@SabundyI don't see many ppl traveling with this so not sure how portable it is
@@Sabundy Also most Bluetooth speakers don't have low latency needed when watching video. Bluetooth is still lossly and having wi-fi available for Airplay 2 and Chromecast is an improvement. 3.5mm jack would give stereo, but not surround so I can understand not including it. USB audio from a computer would be better.
@@soberanisfam1323 I have one, and I travel with it. Since i travel about 50-55% of my time a year for work and am in different countries for 2 weeks a month. It's not that much bigger than the previous BT speaker I already carried with me.
@@geraldmcmullon2465I own and have owned many BT speakers, none of them had latency high enough to be noticible when watching videos. Maybe you need to step up the quality of the stuff you're buying.
That's a bummer. No wifi.
and then you find out the price lol 🤣
Only after listening will we know if it's worth the price or not. I've spent a lot more on speakers not much brighter than that.
I am a bit confused. Will it works as a sound-bar for a tv? Thanks, Mark
Yes, if your TV supports Bluetooth connections.
Can’t believe they didn’t put an hdmi there…
No LDAC or AptX HD or adaptive support via Bluetooth, trash for the money.
It isn't perfect if there isn't a 3.5mm port
Preach
Why.
3.5mm is going extinct
@@user-fs8lz9re2qbecause Windows for example comes with an audio delay when played over Bluetooth.
Why would you have that on a portable home theatre speaker system, waste of time
It is definitely not made for to use with TV's, it's for phones, laptops or desktops.
TV's also have Bluetooth you know :) You can use it with a TV with BT easy.
This is typical Sony. Amazing, sexy, groundbreaking products with major caveats. No Aux and no way to charge the satellite speakers separate from the center speaker are total dealbreakers
I get it, Sony makes a lot of products, but they get it wrong so consistently it’s infuriating. Everything from their consumer to professional products are riddled with caveats. They always miss some major, super basic thing
Unless it can take a hdmi in and pass it through, i don’t see its application in the real world.
It's down to individual use case. A couple years ago I would have had no desire for this. But now that I try to hide my tech, the thought of using this along with my Samsung frame TV, when I want a little more boost for a movie, and then I can put it away when not in use, or use it in my bedroom, or even outside, that sounds great to me!
@@maverick85 The point is, it's supposed to be a surround solution. Multichannel sound cannot be transmitted over Bluetooth, only 2 channel. Why would this be appealing to anyone when it cannot accept a multichannel signal, especially when the other spatial audio option is from Apple with which it is incompatible with?
Hard miss, and purely in gimmick territory.
@@kashyusaf9260 like I said. It's down to individual use case. And I don't think you took my use case into consideration for why someone like me might like it. I want something I can move around and something I can put away. If I wanted a dedicated surround sound system I'd go buy one of those. But this Sony product isn't going in my cinema room. It's going in my living room, sometimes my bedroom, sometimes my studio.
@@maverick85 a Sonos is more effective and cheaper and actually does Atmos with only one speaker.
@@kashyusaf9260 don't mean to be rude but you just told me that the sony system wouldn't work effectively at surround sound and go on to tell me that ONE speaker can do atmos... Spoiler alert... It can't. It can accept the signal, it can fire sound around to create a wider sound stage but true Atmos surround sound it is not. I'm ok with that but you can't tell me that's a better surround sound solution than what Sony is offering (for what I am looking for).
Ok but bro, 500 euro for a speaker. I will wait for a heavy sale. Also nock headphone Jack - LMAO sorry but that is not a serious soundsystem.
The elephant in the room was not addressed. If there is lag by nature of the technology, it is going to be useless watching movies. By not talking about it shows how sponsorship can affect the 'review'.
Overpriced
Sigh. Another click bait headline. Blocked forever.
why you say its clickbait?
bose sound better
a bedroom is to rest. to sleep. not for entertainment .............................................
Well, that depends on the definition of "entertainment"...
Yes - True . But you can play some decent instrumental music & have a nice sound sleep
wrong!! bedroom is for the sex
