As someone who hasn't really used Bluetooth with televisions, I'm curious how ubiquitous it is with televisions now. I know from experience that TVs in hotels (and even in some nicer hotels), the TVs are pretty old. I agree with you that getting HDMI or even optical would make this even better.

Oh! Yeah, no noticeable lag there either. Pretty remarkable. Bluetooth is def getting better these days!

Wireless tech is getting closer to being pretty great. It will be interesting to see if the new Dolby Atmos Flex Connect will be any good or if it's just marketing fluff.
As for the HT-AX7 it's a neat concept for a portable system and the tech is pretty cool being able to get some surround sound out of a simple bluetooth signal. I would have appreciated it having an hdmi input or arc/earc. I suppose they didn't want to include those then this would be intruding on the HT-A9. To me it's too expensive, let's be real it's 3 small bluetooth speakers
Yeah, man. Atmos FlexConnect is interesting for sure, but weird that it’ll go through its first phase only exclusive to TCL TVs in 2024. 🤷♂️ But if it proves to do exactly what the marketing says, it could change home theater systems significantly.

The new Sony from the last couple of years reminds me of the old 80s and 90s Sony. Very engineer driven innovative products. Now they just have to start making Trinitron CRTs again, move most production back to Japan and we'll come full circle.

Ealan, your fireplace situation is the same for me. There’s literally nowhere else to put it. I have an open concept into our dining room, the other wall is a large window, the other wall is open to a small room, then there’s the wall with the fireplace so yeah. That’s where it goes, the only outlet is right below the fireplace to the side. I feel for you! Also, still playing Tears of the Kingdom, two remaining Shrines to go!

I pretty much did everything possible in BOTW - beat Ganon, did all the quests, maxed out all the armor, unlocked Master Mode, etc, so I’ll probably do the same with TOTK. I just love spending time in Hyrule! 😄🎉
@@ealanosborne That’s awesome. I did pretty much the same in BOTW, I didn’t get all the armor but I definitely maxed out what I had. Loved getting the classic “Of the Wild” armor and maxed that out. I cleared out all of the depths except for like three light roots. Fought my first Gleeok finally and it was the King Gleeok or whatever in the depths. It’s ridiculously fun and I can talk about it for hours.
The sony tax 🤷🏻♂️. They do good stuff but by today standards they are way to overpriced. But definitely I'll buy one with 5.1 support.

Huh…weird! I guess just double check the CEC settings in the Denon’s menu to make sure it’s on? 🤷♂️ Otherwise, I’m not sure what’s going on…

No news about any sequel to the HT-a9? We have huge sales right now on their subwoofer for half price & the whole system is a few hundred dollars less. So it feels like something is on its way out.
Not yet, I’m afraid. Seems likely a successor will be coming out soon since the A9 has been around for a couple years now. 🤷♂️
You can hope. So keen to buy the HT-a9 just because the price is so low. $2100 in Sweden. But imagine if they release a sequel in 3-6 months. It can feel quite sour. If you hear anything. Release a video about it 😎 We'd love to see it.

Surround with bluetooth source? not even optical for 5.1? No app to transmit surround via bluetooth on mobile or pc/mac? LOL... so it's basically virtual surround. I guess it's useful for a wider soundstage but not actual surround.
