Yep. I have only played the explore custom mode because the battle royale elimination type version become stale for me and honestly once you played the best player made maps it’s quite fun
It got changed likely for a mobile release. The mobile version is likely to come this month. Edit: Mobile is now available on android globally and ios in the EU.
In all fairness, Mediatonic started focusing heavily on custom levels because *Epic laid off all their level designers.* It’s unfortunate, but it’s being done out of necessity, not pure laziness. With the game not being as popular now, they aren’t exactly making the money to hire new level designers, that’s why the old ones got laid off in the first place.

creator of the Dual Climb map you featured in the video here. I’m actually genuinely surprised at how well researched this video is for someone who doesn’t play this game often, people mainly view fall guys in the same way it was 4 or so years ago when it isn’t that game anymore. every point you made in this video I agree with, Mediatonic vault maps because they have glaring issues that detriment the core idea of the level, they then keep the level rotting in the vault un-maintained and potentially breaking them even more, only to bring them back with the same glaring issues that they vaulted them for originally (I’m mainly talking about The Slimescraper and Royal Fumble here, but this applies to a load more maps) Epic Games laid off all the senior level designers, leaving only a few junior level designers to follow in the footsteps of official maps using a shoddy and limited tool, leading to the disastrous launch of season 10, and the eventual discontinuation of seasons along with having the community fill in for the workforce lost with the layoff. Fall Guys can never return to the way it used to be with unique hand-crafted rounds every so often, and as a result it has just turned into a glorified Super Mario Maker with no real incentive to play and no good way to discover levels. I play this game competitively and that’s the only reason I feel compelled to play. I’ve finished the crown ranks and have 6000 crowns - there’s nothing to play for anymore and i don’t feel rewarded, which a ton of the main player base that have stuck with the game since FFA or even launch like me just don’t have a reason to play. This is just me adding on to what you’ve already said in the video contributing my perspective. This game is doomed to fail at some point and I don’t want to see that happen even though that’s the direction that we’re headed
@@triplewave5214 there are third party leaderboards for crowns, level times for speedrunning and hosted tournaments. An official ranked mode has been in the works but no one knows it it'll happen yet.
As a Fall Guys player, this has to be the most accurate video about this topic I've ever seen. A lot of stuff you mentioned in the video is definitely a consequence of the lay-offs that happened last year, however the decision of fully focusing on the level editor was probably intentional and now that mediatonic is left with very few employees, it would be impossible for them to go back to making levels like how they used to..
It really is painful how Epic treats RL and FG, they do act like Fortnite is their favourite Child. A Marvel LTM, Live Events, consistent lore they genuinely care for every season (FG seems to forget the lore really often),better creative tools etc. Fortnite is bombarded with gifts while they walk up to FG snatch its children ( the FG characters) and slaps them into Fortnite. What does FG get back? A spit on the face made with a mixture of rubber chickens and breaking platforms. It got a mobile version tho, but its really janky, and RL case is so sad that I dont even wanna talk about it
@@SpaghettiGoNappy I actually enjoyed the last fall guys update a lot!! You can clearly see the devs are trying to give us new content even with the little amount of resources epic gives them. Plus the mobile port seems to be decently optimised (except for the fact that it's missing a resolution setting which would make the game run a lot smoother on older phones). Also, I don't play rocket league but I've heard they've only been getting new cosmetics without any major changes to the game for the last couple of updates (I think?)
@@raiko- I mostly agree with you, except for the mobile part but thats prolly my phones fault not theirs .I also like the concept of powerups and that one knockout map with the knight thingy. I do have a problem with creative, as you should be able to pick how the objects look , cuz rn theyre all in that explore style. Imo you should be able to pick between explore style and the normal FG style. I think they should unvault like at least 5 lvls in the next update, but unvaulting bubble trouble is the way to go . Imo every 3 "seasons" Mediatpnic makes an actual update to solos . I've been having lots of fun with my friends lately, as together it feels like a party game. TLDR; The explore Tab needs a bit of polishing, and they should do some stuff for classic modes from time to time, but it's still a fun game

(THIS IS GOING TO BE A VERY LONG COMMENT SO GET READY!) I opened youtube just to play a video on the background while i was playing fall guys coincidentally, and stumbled upon this video I decided to watch this because i really enjoy the videos you make, they are very well researched and i honestly see them multiple times, so i gave this one a shot And yea, this is a great video, explaining the flaws with a game i personally love to play while feeling really professional and someone that did a ton of research I also wanted to add some more context behind as why does fall guys have those said issues, this coming from a person who played fall guys ever since it came out and still plays it to this day, completed the crown ranks and finished almost all of the battle passes, and actually had a level in the core shows, so I've been through a lot with this silly bean game PACING OF THE GAME I feel like why fall guys is a slow game is more to how casual the nature of the game is, and i get that. The game obviously goes for a more casual and beginner friendly players, which most of the minigames being easy and making players take their time (excluding skill based matchmaking but you get the point) Unfortunately i feel like a lot could have been done to make the game easy faster, like making some of the easy survivals harder (examples: big shots cannons being more threatening overtime or the water in blastlantis rising earlier that it should), and making the load times faster Surprisingly, this is one of the issues they planned to fix in one of their roadmaps, to hopefully make the pacing between rounds a lot better VAULTING/LACK OF MINIGAMES So let's talk about the main issue with modern fall guys So to give it a context, before ss2 (or let's say, the second free for all season), fall guys never had a system where they would remove levels for the sake of a more refreshing roundpool. Now they did removed levels in the past, but that was mainly due to issues. Case in point: Thin ice was unfortunately removed for the entirety of legacy season 6 due to an exploit where low ping players couldn't break the tiles, basically having an instant win Now, after the free for all season, vaulting was this game's demise. As season 2 free for all continued, many maps had to be removed from the game due to game breaking issues. It clearly showed that the season was not playtested, and unfortunately completely changed how should mediatonic focus on the game. It also doesn't help that this game has a very messy spaghetti code, so that's awesome The vaulting would continue into the next season, season 3 free for all. As you said, in concept, vaulting was a good idea, making levels refresh and experience something different. In practice, it was the worst thing ever made, considering how season 3 free for all lasted for 5 MONTHS WITH ONLY 40 MAPS IN THE GAME,BASICALLY HALF OF THE LEVELS AVAILABLE. Vaulting still exists in the game as of now, however less of an issue. The game has 81 unity levels, with around 20 being removed as of now Fortunately, they are also bringing them back, which as recently as some... Team levels (uhhhhhh), but they will eventually bring more maps back as stated in the roadmap they put out recently CREATIVE FOCUS This is by far the elephant in the room, as it completely shifted the game's direction So after season 3 free for all, which lasted for 5 months and is claimed as the worst season in fall guys, mediatonic would release season 4 free for all, alongside with fall guys creative This was cool, being able to build your own levels and play other ones. However this came at a cost, which mediatonic officially stating that future maps made down the line were made in that same editor Which was unfortunately a massive downgrade, considering how at launch, creative was way more limited with a very limiting budget and high price for stuff you put in the editor, no overlapping objects, and not worth it shifting for the high quality alternative that was unity. I want to keep in mind this: Unity levels - levels made in the unity engine Creative levels - levels made in fall guys creative But, why did i brought creative into the table? Well, it's because of what i said before: vaulting The issues in the game were so bad that mediatonic went in panic mode and had to quickly shift the game into a different direction, to hopefully bring more content to the players, while making sure a disaster like vaulting wouldn't happen again, and that was the point with creative, where if there was a huge flaw, they could fix it instantly However... Creative was not very well received in the core shows, especially on how bad the creative levels were at the time of season 4 free for all, at least comparing to the unity counterparts. The levels were fine by themselves, but after losing unity levels for very bland levels, it was shown that creative put a very sour taste in people's mouths One of the weirdest things about creative was that it was supported to be a side mode, because there was leaks that there would be unity levels, but probably had to be scrapped last minute due to the shift of the game Also, in last september 2023, mediatonic was unfortunately hit by a massive lay off by epic games, and sadly the same level designers that worked on the best levels that the community considered were affected by those So unfortunately, mediatonic has no choice but to stay with creative as of now. It's a more underpowered tool compared to unity, but unfortunately it's their only option as to avoid long content droughts as there used to be in season 3 and 4 free for all This would lead up to mediatonic stopping with seasons, and instead focus on more frequent updates to bring more players back more frequently, but at the same time having to rely on creative to maintain the game They tried with knockout, a mode that combined both the refresh roundpool idea and mixing with creative levels, now being more advanced to what they were last year (also i got a level there so that was awesome) But as expected, it received so many backlash that mediatonic went back and fixed the mode, for then a week later to make it a separate mode alongside with classic modes. At least they tried to innovate i guess One last thing i wanted to bring is that there are rumors of a mobile port for fall guys, to potentially compete with stumble guys (a similar game like fall guys, but with worse controls, pay to win mechanics and a very unpolished game that felt like a very cheap game trying to cash in on the fall guys trend) So, this ended up being a super long comment than i was expecting LMAO But in summary, a lot of the issues you mentioned had more behind the scenes i wanted to bring up, with unfortunately due to most likely production hell during of what happened in the past few years If i have to say, both mediatonic and epic made this game as it is, with mediatonic not being able to patch the game to avoid big issues while having to resort to a more underpowered level engine, and epic due to the layoffs which made things worse and how they wanted to push fall guys to a live service game than an indie game like party animals (funny how that compares to what happened to the plants vs zombies franchise, on how both popcap and ea were part of the demise of it) In the end, fall guys is still a product of quality, you can still pick it up if you're new and still have fun on it (the game is also free so there's nothing to lose). I do recommend you go for an open mind, especially to creative. Some people might not like it, but who knows, maybe you might like creative levels and have fun with them With that out of the way, it was so amazing losing 1 hour of my life to write this comment for this silly yet amazing video1!1!1!11!!11!
This video is funny as hell and well made for sure ☠ A few things I disagree with, just because I play this shit every day damn near: - The issue with number of rounds -- Creative Mode & Knockout is starting to remedy that issue. (Knockout refreshes every month or so (((which is still not enough, but yeah)))))) - The annoyance with cosmetics being pushed, because the alternative is P2W Emotes or abilities like Stumble Guys. The last thing this game needs is to put skill gap behind a paywall imo. The only reason you could have the crowns currency for the shop is because the game itself costed money. (different source of revenue) Everything else is a fair criticism though, great video man 🔥
Creative isn't saving Fall Guys, it's just killing it slowly. Seeing new seasons and new themes made players excited to play the game. Still hoping them to do something about it, but I don't think they will. I agree with almost everything you said
I remember how bored of the game I was, but I struggled through it to get Hatsune Miku, just to drop the game after. I hate feeling this way about Fall Guys since it's not really a bad game, but there's enough flaws that I don't have fun playing.
@@olivergobrrr2935 Yeah! There was a Miku outfit you could buy in the shop, or you could get the OG in the battle pass with an Ievan Polkka victory screen. It took so long to get xp daily for it though since it was at the end so I don't blame people for not having it.
@@olivergobrrr2935and a SpongeBob collab too, but both SpongeBob and Miku first styles are locked behind a pass that is unobtainable for now, maybe they come back some day because fall guys has brought cosmetics from passes into the shop before
Exactly! I remember when the game blew up, and I immediately knew that it would only be popular for 2 weeks. It was exactly 2 weeks later when everyone stopped talking about it lmao
I remember when they praised how many variations of older maps they made. Those were really fun. It was also around the time Epic Games was looking at their direction, THINKING about getting their mits on them. ....and then legacy season six happened.
it feels kinda bad how games will often take the roblox route of things. Skyrim and Fallout 4 are easily moddable, but at the same time, theres like no more dignity of a company anymore when you look at starfield. theyre basically begging to modders to make the game for them.
I have to bring up the only thing that seems lacking research. Hangout levels. Yeah, it might seem like a weird concept. But the answer to "Who is gonna go Guys! Jump into the Fall Guys Hangout lobby I made!" is a LOT of people, specially noticeable in the Asian side of the community which is pretty sizeable (a lot of Fall Guys Merchandise is Japan exclusive). The whole concept of emote parties, which occur daily and from both level creators, content creators, and streamers, is BIG. Celebrating birthdays, releases, creative levels, or just because they want to, you know, hang out.
Fall guys messed up by having similar but not actually like sm64 movement. It caps the skill ceiling with stage and obstacle knowledge, rather than mechanical skill.
I am an OG Fall Guys player, I remember legacy season 1, how the game was very popular and eventually died. But to a casual player like me Fall Guys was still fun with new skins and rounds but after Epic Games bought Fall Guys everything changed. New skins are now behind a paywall, old rounds are now vaulted for no reason, there were no good updates lately and now the game is TRULY dead. Legacy seasons were the best. I was excited for every new legacy season back then, for new skins that you can ACTUALLY get for FREE. I love legacy fall guys, but I hate new fall guys
I really have a big heart for this game. They used to have 100s of level variation that added a ton of replayability, but they removed all if them because of complications
Yeah its sad. Such a great variety of rounds but now it's just the same 10 creative mode races over and over again with a couple survival rounds that they didn't vault...
It's geniunely sad the direction Fall Guys went into. This video geniunely describes well what gripes I have with Fall Guys (I don't mind the pacing buttt it could be better) I woke up stupid early on F2P launch day just to play and I loved it, and got addicted. But now it's sorta lost what's made it Fall Guys to me and now I spend most of my time playing other games. Ironically I've started to enjoy Fortnite more because truthfully, it does a far better job at separating UGC and Official content. I do not hate Fall Guys, I just am discontent with what it's become... corporate slop.
This game is very similar to multiversus, once the most popular game on social media then dies in at least a month or two. Gets revived for its first season and then dies again lol
As a fall guys player I can say that this video was actually pretty good compared to other fall guys rise and fall videos just stating "fall guys was developed by mediatonic and devolver digital but then among us came in and killed it". When it's fun IT IS FUN but currently with no new updates at the moment it's feeling really stale along with the fact they decided to stop limited time modes for some reason and stopping live events. Though I still keep playing daily because it is a game I love (and poured way too many hours for me to just stop)
This game had so much potential to be a multi billion dollar franchise but its plagued with the awful devs and community managers. Horrible Management and neglect killed this game off.
at first I thought this would be an ignorant rant, but I was surprised to see the research that was put into this video and I actually agree with pretty much all these points💀
Great video! One thing I want to point out is that yes, Mediatonic decided to vault ~38 levels from the game, which sounds already horrible enough on the surface. But, what if I told you that the amount of content taken away was MUCH more? Fall Guys levels have a thing called "variations": each time you get a round, some rounds have the chance of having a different layout; effectively increasing the variety by double, even triple since each minigame would have a twist. Here's the thing with the vaulting... not ONLY did they vault 38 levels, they vaulted MANY of the different variations in the existing levels as well! So you'd think "only" 50% of game content was vaulted (this game has stooped so low that I had to include "only" lol), but in reality, it was MUCH more with the vaulted variations as well.
I've played the game a few weeks after it launch and still played this game to this day. I've gotten to some of its loading time and even I wish more rounds would be unvalted. Overall, one of my top favorite games for me. ❤
Its ironic how devs copy fortnite but don't actual get that fortnite worked up to the point it is now. They're trying to skip step 2 without realising that its what leads to step3 aka profit.
This reminds me if party animals, which I do play time to time, and one of my main gripes is how inconsistent it feels. I shouldn’t lose because I got knocked out in the literal first second of the game with no way to react
Worst moves by them: 1. Vaulting so many levels and keeping horrible games in rotation 2. Smaller lobbies. So every episode is way more predictable. And many games are very unlikely to come up because it needs a specific number of squads to remain 3. Lack of variants/not challenging enough. Whirlygig, roll off, and hit party are examples where there is no skill involved
About that Mario Party Superstars comparison. While there are many mini games that it is hard to get repeats. Not all of 100 mini games can be played during the party mode. So saying that you can get any mini game is not true.
Very well made and explains every problem everyone has with fall guys that most people dont even notice thats their issue. People say that "its not fun anymore" but you do well explaining WHY its not fun anymore. Good work Danerade!
Even if the current state of the game isn't perfect, it's still much better than was it was back in 2020. I still play Fall Guys a lot and it's always fun (also the soundtrack absolutly slaps)
Epic games fired the ones that used to make maps with unity ....so now the devs make maps with fall guys creative, and some of those maps are very cool
A game that really does user generated content correctly would be geometry dash, it isn’t pushing it in your face. But in the long wait times for things like 2.2 the community just took over and it was great.
The idea of having creator made content be apart of the official pool sounds like a good idea on paper (hell, I’ll admit I had a similar thought). However, the problem with it is that, in order for it to work, you need heavy quality control and assurance to make sure little Timmy’s troll map doesn’t get shuffle in with the officially well made maps. Problem is that, with the size of the player base and how many maps are being made, that is almost impossible.
a thing that i kinda disliked about the game is that before the epic games thing it did a crossover with spelunky 2 and you had to get crows to buy the outfit for the game but it was impossible to get crowns and i think since then that outfit has never returned :/
Even when I played the game after the update to have community maps in rotation, I STILL got those repeats within maybe an hour or two of playing. It just doesn't provide an actual challenge/variation for me, personally. Although the vaulting would explain the entire lack of Team games. Got Tail Tag a bunch, as per usual. The volleyball map was a fun one at least.
i think minigame games need like an overarching progression to really last, like mario party has the board game built on top of it which gives encouragement to players to continue along with all the minigames being shorter and to the point. Most of these minigame battle royales ive seen kinda just die out quickly because theres no incentive or draw, its hard to play and most people just want to play these kind of thing with friends anyway not a bunch of strangers, it makes it take longer and its not fun to watch strangers struggle its fun to watch your friends strruggle. the other people dont matter at all it may as well just be ai it provides the same entertainment value
I used to be a really regular Fall Guys player, but fell off the bandwagon during the Vaulting phase. Not only did they vault half the rounds (some of which were only around for one week), but they made sure some of the worst maps remained in every. single. week. After seeing Door Dash appear in 50% of the games and hearing that the round pool would become stale for 2 weeks I just couldn't keep playing. Fall Guys NEEDED a big pool of rounds with lots of variants, otherwise there's no reason to log in every day. Buggy is better than boring.
By far the biggest problem is the fact that they vaulted so many games. The game would immediately become 100 times better if they just unvaulted everything and made all the rounds roughly as common as each other.
Yeah this is my #1 issue. I get that it was probably done in preparation for a mobile release to keep file sizes in check but the game just feels soulless. Playing the same 10 creator-made rounds over and over again is not fun.
my thoughts exactly man, like i don't mind some waiting between maps but epic really screwed the pooch. I was actually on the beta qa team for a while, but after the buy out they gave us less to do, and eventually dropped the whole branch entirely. what a jip
This was one of those games where I knew it was going to blow up. I immediately jumped on it during release day and enjoyed my time. It was the ideal game to play with any type of person because it was so easy to pick up. Then slowly they started doing all these things that was not received well by the community. I was on this game every single day and it wasn't until recent months that I've finally stopped playing. So did a lot of the people I used to play this game with. We just left and I haven't looked back. I thank the game for it's time and funny moments.
Honestly... i have literally 400 hours on Fall Guys and at this point even I can say that the game is fundementaly dead. It really hurts seeing such a cool game with a nice concept be overwhelmed with it's sucess and fade into obscurity

I don’t think the delays are that bad. The loading times and camera pans are only a minute or so, and they have to make you wait for other people to finish because it’s an online game; the problem with people being AFK has been fixed; the game kicks you if you don’t touch the controls for 30 seconds. Playing the same games repeatedly adds to my experience because you can learn to master them. Like many games, it’s easy to pick up and play but tricky to master. I don’t think you need to play many different games for it to be interesting; you need a few that you can learn to get good at. There are also other modes, some of which users have made games, like Mario Maker. Tip Toe is fun because the fake tiles shake, so you can figure out which tiles are real if you pay attention. There are different versions of Block Party; the harder version they introduced is pretty intense. But, oddly, the older version is still in the game because that version is dull. Big Shots is a dull game, I agree. I never like the “ it sucks since you can win by doing nothing” argument, because you are the one who chooses to do nothing; if you think it’s boring doing nothing, then do something. Also, how were you not kicked for not touching the controls? I don't understand your comparison with Fortnight; it's a very different game, so clearly, the games and who they appeal to will be different. I don’t give a monkey about the in-game currency or the skins. I play the game. Wait, you were moaning before about there not being enough variety of games, and now there’s an unlimited number of games to play. You’re moaning that they just aren’t as good!? I don’t want to sound cynical, but it’s like the game can’t win with you. By the way, did you keep seeing the same one? Man, I wish I had that problem! Don't play the more casual maps if you don’t get the point. There are tons of other modes. If you want to talk about something pointless in the game, how about fixed chat messages you can send now? Wow, now I can say “over here” or “I need help” to everyone in the game. Isn’t that useful? Again, this is a tangent about Fortnight; it’s a different game; why are you comparing the two? The bottom line is that I don’t think the waiting is that bad, and I definitely feel there is enough variety in the different modes and creator-made levels.
Yeh play the explore playlist and the waiting is not as bad and there are loads of custom maps made within that playlist. Weird how u didn’t talk about that lol
It may sound weird but it's kinda cool hearing your voice change from video to video. I've feel it like you've been growing up along side me. Or maybe you were sick for this video idk.
fall guys felt like a free game you'd play for 20 minutes as a joke. not a full AAA game yes, I know it's free now. I bought it. I see it as a paid game and nothing will ever change that.
I tried to play this again for a few months with my boyfriend and we ended up quitting right before it went full creative mode and they stopped caring. Also I don't know how it went so long with such awful feeling controls and random feeling physics,. It's just not fun to play and that disappointed me greatly because I was so excited to play via my brothers psn account a few years back and never fully enjoyed it like I think I should have.
Call guys has its flaws but anyone hesitant should know it’s still a great time. I don’t really like solos, but playing duos or squads with friends or family is amazing. I still love this game.
i totally agree with this video, as a person who's played fall guys since FFA, i know this game's ups and downs. and, yeah, i agree that the loading times are extremely slow DESPITE epic/mt saying that "loading times will be improved". i don't feel a difference to the loading times at all. also what i find weird is that over the past couple months, fall guys has been making the game "more beginner friendly" to grab ppl's attention again. they added "tips" to the loading screens, which SUCK and says useless crap like "press a to jump" or "get kudos by playing games" or stuff like that. like bro WE'RE NOT *THAT* STUPID!! and another thing they added is when you open the game, it shows you how to earn currency. oh can things get even worse? i guess so. since they stopped doing seasons in september, the game has not been the same anymore. whenever fall guys gets a new update nowadays, only the die hard fans would care. like, fall forever is cool and all, but would anyone outside of the fandom even know what was going on? i REALLY doubt it. but back then, the season trailers and leaks would bring so much hype! it was so much fun getting to play the new rounds for the first time! and everyone was trying to speedrun levels! and i understand that fall guys wanted a more refreshing experience by updating the game every month or so. i really do get that. but... it's just not the same anymore..... i want the old fall guys back.
@@octopaulIt doesn’t matter if they get up quicker or accelerate quicker. Why would I care about my character getting to his top speed faster if the top speed is still slow as all hell? They’re prioritizing the wrong things.
@JColeGlazer754 speed arches, conveyer belts, and the rolling bean powerup are in the game, but speed arches only appears in ss1 levels and creative levels, conveyer belts only makes you faster if it goes forwards instead of backwards, and the rolling bean powerup makes you even slower until you yknow *roll down something*

I’m actually genuinely surprised at how well researched this video is for someone who doesn’t play this game often, people mainly view fall guys in the same way it was 4 or so years ago when it isn’t that game anymore. every point you made in this video I agree with, Mediatonic vault maps because they have glaring issues that detriment the core idea of the level, they then keep the level rotting in the vault un-maintained and potentially breaking them even more, only to bring them back with the same glaring issues that they vaulted them for originally (I’m mainly talking about The Slimescraper and Royal Fumble here, but this applies to a load more maps)
Epic Games laid off all the senior level designers, leaving only a few junior level designers to follow in the footsteps of official maps using a shoddy and limited tool, leading to the disastrous launch of season 10, and the eventual discontinuation of seasons along with having the community fill in for the workforce lost with the layoff.
How do you play competitively if you don’t mind me asking? Is it a race to obtain as many crowns as possible within a given time frame?

Imo you should be able to pick between explore style and the normal FG style. I think they should unvault like at least 5 lvls in the next update, but unvaulting bubble trouble is the way to go . I opened youtube just to play a video on the background while i was playing fall guys coincidentally, and stumbled upon this video
I decided to watch this because i really enjoy the videos you make, they are very well researched and i honestly see them multiple times, so i gave this one a shot
And yea, this is a great video, explaining the flaws with a game i personally love to play while feeling really professional and someone that did a ton of research
I also wanted to add some more context behind as why does fall guys have those said issues, this coming from a person who played fall guys ever since it came out and still plays it to this day, completed the crown ranks and finished almost all of the battle passes, and actually had a level in the core shows, so I've been through a lot with this silly bean game
PACING OF THE GAME
I feel like why fall guys is a slow game is more to how casual the nature of the game is, and i get that. The game obviously goes for a more casual and beginner friendly players, which most of the minigames being easy and making players take their time (excluding skill based matchmaking but you get the point)
Unfortunately i feel like a lot could have been done to make the game easy faster, like making some of the easy survivals harder (examples: big shots cannons being more threatening overtime or the water in blastlantis rising earlier that it should), and making the load times faster
Surprisingly, this is one of the issues they planned to fix in one of their roadmaps, to hopefully make the pacing between rounds a lot better
VAULTING/LACK OF MINIGAMES
So let's talk about the main issue with modern fall guys
So to give it a context, before ss2 (or let's say, the second free for all season), fall guys never had a system where they would remove levels for the sake of a more refreshing roundpool.
Now they did removed levels in the past, but that was mainly due to issues. Case in point: Thin ice was unfortunately removed for the entirety of legacy season 6 due to an exploit where low ping players couldn't break the tiles, basically having an instant win
Now, after the free for all season, vaulting was this game's demise. As season 2 free for all continued, many maps had to be removed from the game due to game breaking issues. It clearly showed that the season was not playtested, and unfortunately completely changed how should mediatonic focus on the game. It also doesn't help that this game has a very messy spaghetti code, so that's awesome
The vaulting would continue into the next season, season 3 free for all.
The game has 81 unity levels, with around 20 being removed as of now
Fortunately, they are also bringing them back, which as recently as some... Team levels (uhhhhhh), but they will eventually bring more maps back as stated in the roadmap they put out recently
CREATIVE FOCUS
This is by far the elephant in the room, as it completely shifted the game's direction
So after season 3 free for all, which lasted for 5 months and is claimed as the worst season in fall guys, mediatonic would release season 4 free for all, alongside with fall guys creative
This was cool, being able to build your own levels and play other ones. However this came at a cost, which mediatonic officially stating that future maps made down the line were made in that same editor
Which was unfortunately a massive downgrade, considering how at launch, creative was way more limited with a very limiting budget and high price for stuff you put in the editor, no overlapping objects, and not worth it shifting for the high quality alternative that was unity.
I want to keep in mind this:
Unity levels - levels made in the unity engine
Creative levels - levels made in fall guys creative
But, why did i brought creative into the table? Well, it's because of what i said before: vaulting
The issues in the game were so bad that mediatonic went in panic mode and had to quickly shift the game into a different direction, to hopefully bring more content to the players, while making sure a disaster like vaulting wouldn't happen again, and that was the point with creative, where if there was a huge flaw, they could fix it instantly
However... Creative was not very well received in the core shows, especially on how bad the creative levels were at the time of season 4 free for all, at least comparing to the unity counterparts. The levels were fine by themselves, but after losing unity levels for very bland levels, it was shown that creative put a very sour taste in people's mouths
One of the weirdest things about creative was that it was supported to be a side mode, because there was leaks that there would be unity levels, but probably had to be scrapped last minute due to the shift of the game
Also, in last september 2023, mediatonic was unfortunately hit by a massive lay off by epic games, and sadly the same level designers that worked on the best levels that the community considered were affected by those
So unfortunately, mediatonic has no choice but to stay with creative as of now. It's a more underpowered tool compared to unity, but unfortunately it's their only option as to avoid long content droughts as there used to be in season 3 and 4 free for all
This would lead up to mediatonic stopping with seasons, and instead focus on more frequent updates to bring more players back more frequently, but at the same time having to rely on creative to maintain the game
They tried with knockout, a mode that combined both the refresh roundpool idea and mixing with creative levels, now being more advanced to what they were last year (also i got a level there so that was awesome)
But as expected, it received so many backlash that mediatonic went back and fixed the mode, for then a week later to make it a separate mode alongside with classic modes. At least they tried to innovate i guess
One last thing i wanted to bring is that there are rumors of a mobile port for fall guys, to potentially compete with stumble guys (a similar game like fall guys, but with worse controls, pay to win mechanics and a very unpolished game that felt like a very cheap game trying to cash in on the fall guys trend)
So, this ended up being a super long comment than i was expecting LMAO
But in summary, a lot of the issues you mentioned had more behind the scenes i wanted to bring up, with unfortunately due to most likely production hell during of what happened in the past few years
If i have to say, both mediatonic and epic made this game as it is, with mediatonic not being able to patch the game to avoid big issues while having to resort to a more underpowered level engine, and epic due to the layoffs which made things worse and how they wanted to push fall guys to a live service game than an indie game like party animals
(funny how that compares to what happened to the plants vs zombies franchise, on how both popcap and ea were part of the demise of it)
In the end, fall guys is still a product of quality, you can still pick it up if you're new and still have fun on it (the game is also free so there's nothing to lose). I do recommend you go for an open mind, especially to creative. Some people might not like it, but who knows, maybe you might like creative levels and have fun with them

A few things I disagree with, just because I play this shit every day damn near:
- The issue with number of rounds -- Creative Mode & Knockout is starting to remedy that issue. (Knockout refreshes every month or so (((which is still not enough, but yeah))))))
- The annoyance with cosmetics being pushed, because the alternative is P2W Emotes or abilities like Stumble Guys. The last thing this game needs is to put skill gap behind a paywall imo. The only reason you could have the crowns currency for the shop is because the game itself costed money. (different source of revenue)
Everything else is a fair criticism though, great video man 🔥

The whole concept of emote parties, which occur daily and from both level creators, content creators, and streamers, is BIG. Celebrating birthdays, releases, creative levels, or just because they want to, you know, hang out.

The introduction of premium currency making crowns completely useless was the death sentence of the game imo

Worst moves by them:
1. Vaulting so many levels and keeping horrible games in rotation
2. Smaller lobbies. So every episode is way more predictable. And many games are very unlikely to come up because it needs a specific number of squads to remain

The volleyball map was a fun one at least.
The Virgin Downfall of Plants VS Zombies VS The Chad Downfall of Fall Guys
i think minigame games need like an overarching progression to really last, like mario party has the board game built on top of it which gives encouragement to players to continue along with all the minigames being shorter and to the point.

I've been trying to get them to fix PlayStation trophies for years. They're still bugged.
Yeh play the explore playlist and the waiting is not as bad and there are loads of custom maps made within that playlist. Weird how u didn’t talk about that lol
game was so fun god they really had something good going for like a month after it went free to play then they butchered it
I tried Fall Guys once for a Online Multiplayer montage. I got bored and dropped it from the rotation
I can't believe that this is happening, my favourite game is still remembered
#unvaultfallguys
8:08 But almost no one plays Among Us anyways
Babe wake up new danerade
Well YOU'RRRRRE fundamentally flawed TOOOO, but you don't see MEEEEE complaining
With your logic, I dont think you should watch splashdash

WAKE UP BABE NEW DANERADE VIDEO KUST DROPPED
Ah the fall of fall guys
I’m looking at the initial list of vaulted rounds, HOW THE FUCK DID THEY VAULT FALL MOUNTAIN??!!!???!?!?!?
lowkey wanna try it again, i remember this was such a blast
The clone of Fall Guys (Stumble Guys) surely made a clone and stole of popularity. 1000%
Somehow I feel like that spelling was either comment bait or some joke that nobody is getting
My bois! Danerade is back with a dead game that no one is talking about anymore!
It may sound weird but it's kinda cool hearing your voice change from video to video. I've feel it like you've been growing up along side me. Or maybe you were sick for this video idk.
Tried getting it on Switch.
Needed account info I don't remember and understand.
Then I gave up.
The only reason i even play fall guys anymore is for the explore mode, which is a decent bit of fun.
fall guys felt like a free game you'd play for 20 minutes as a joke. not a full AAA game
yes, I know it's free now.
THE GOAT (or more likey the dinosaur...or turtle?) IS BACK!
Fall guys has had a real *stumble*
So glad they fixed the loading times in the latest update. Always loved this game, still do!
If they increased the speed of the characters by a little bit I would actually enjoy it a lot more
recently they did make some changes to the physics! Beans now fall less, get up much quicker and accelerate quicker
