    I’ts NOT CO2 as he mentioned. CO2 is carbon dioxide that we breath out. CO is carbon monoxide which is deadly!
    3 beeps or 5 beeps mean that the unit has failed and needs to be replaced. A single chirp means the battery is low. 4 quick chirps mean that the alarm detected CO gas.

    Very good. I appreciate the thoroughness of your video. The side issues are important if replacement of the unit is necessary. Content insurance, the ability to reuse the current base, ladder safety, alternate carbon monoxide sensors, where to purchase (and best value), network behavior, and how to discharge the detector quickly are great topics on their own.

    Sir, your video is great! Mine first alarm started the 3 chirp protocol on new year's eve! All stores were already closed, so next morning I bought the same generic as you did. I actually bought 4 more, just in case others would go off later.
    So in summary:
    1 chirp and the green light is blinking = replace battery
    3 chirps = do the battery test and try replacing. If still chirps for 3 times, then replace the smoke detector

    Erik and Tan,
    This video was so informative. I eventually took my two CO2/Fire Alarm ( same brand as yours) down b/c even after changing the batteries they were still beeping. Luckily, I have several “regular” alarms in the house. I went to a few Home Depot’s and could not find a replacement. Thank you so much for this advice. My house is exactly 7 years old so you are spot on about how long they last. Headed to Lowe’s now. Please start a Property Brother series. You guys make a great team. 👍🏽

    Excellent information. I have those same linked smoke alarm. And you're right, it's tricky figuring out which one is beeping. I was involved in a house fire because my next door neighbor left her her house for over 12 hours with a candle burning. I discovered the fire at 3am. Please be careful when burning candles.

    Thank you soooo much for making this video. My FIRST ALERT SMOKE ALARM went off at 3am on a Wednesday morning...UGHHH... I couldn't for the life of me find which one. We had just moved into our new house. It was built in March 2017,we moved into the house on April 2018. So my husband and I are looking at each other thinking "WHY, JUST WHY is it going off. Well we FINALLY found the alarm it was upstairs in the Guest room.I took the old battery out , Thinking that would STOP the beep. IT ONLY GOT LOUDER. SO we didn't have ANY 9V batteries in the house. So, there I am making a Wally-World trip for 1item at 4am...lol

    • @CameoWalkin
      @CameoWalkin 5 років тому

      The design flaws insure high sales. You'll think you bought a lemon and buy another. The legal changes requiring a 1-BR flat have 3 of these torture devices is aimed at public housing and Sec. 8 (where the elderly & disabled live). If they can use these devices to induce fatal heart attack, the fed. can raid one's S.S. acct. & cut the state in on a small percentage, the landlord raises rents -- and it's all done under the auspices & plausible deniability of "helping & protecting" you! With friends like these, who needs enemies?
      This law must be overthrown (at least for apt. dwellers, since the law was designed with split level home owners in mind), since it violates and utterly destroys the renter's rights to quiet habitation and endangers the health of the elderly, and wakes any sleeping babies. It ought not be allowed to be installed near humans until it can pass strict tests of proximity near baking ovens for eight hours at a stretch, and the high indoor humidity caused by slow cooking teas and soups in big pots on the stovetop for three days. If it can do that without giving false alarms, then it's fit for use in human dwellings.

      @@CameoWalkin ok I know this is terrible but I'm a broke joke right now so I'm in section 8 because I have 3 kids and no education except high school diploma so fast food and store work ain't cutting it, but what's this about causing heart attacks. I have 3 babies and because we have a 3 bdrm I have one in every single room. It's overkill! The alarm goes off for a simple burnt pizza or anything and lasts sometimes for hours and I have to keep pushing the button and it still didn't stop. Plus I've took batteries out and cut the breaker and mine still keep going. Almost like they're wired into the building and they would have to cut the power from a main breaker somewhere! What can I do? Also I'm really concerned about the heart attack thing for my little one's sake. Also another kid died here last year from Sid's and the apartment had a carbon monoxide leak but they somehow said it wasn't the apartments fault! What do you think???? Edit: when he tells about having a fire extinguisher.....please tell me why there is not one single fire extinguisher in this whole joint!? But damn if that alarm don't scream fire! fire! fire! What am I gonna do with no extinguisher? Almost like they want it to burn down!!???

    Just saw your video today. It is October 05, 2022. You left out a very major important factor. Do you need to turn off the electrical power to the smoke detector?

    Mine just went off yesterday so this video was right on time and the fire department was sent to my house because I had a contractor's doing work ...I have 8 in my house and they detect the carbon dioxide as well . Great video and thanks for sharing.

      Your alarm detects carbon MONOXIDE not DIOXIDE! Carbon Dioxide (CO2 is what we breath out and is safe. Carbon Monoxide (CO) is the deadly odorless gas that will kill if you breath enough of it without breathing oxygen. That’s why you need to get to fresh air ASAP when Carbon Monoxide is released into the house by a faulty furnace for example.

    Tell me what the difference is between the chirping of a First Alert which means it needs a new battery and a loud alarm BEEP BEEP BEEP that goes off two times in a row at 3a.m., and than does it again in 5 hours and then doesn’t do it again (so far) for three days? Could it mean the smoke alarm unit(s)are old and need to be replaced? I have 6 hardwired ones upstairs and it was the one in my bedroom that went off.
