Great stuff. When I’m done with the uv I put some sally Hansen’s hard as nails on the uv. Never have lost any eyes yet.
Always ready to learn new techniques! Subbed - looking forward to your "Tips Series"
Good tips for sure, that I will be using. I like this depth of explanation in the video for the tying tips. It works and is still entertaining. I like the background music too, it makes it a FlyFishingtheOzarks video.
Nice quick tying tip there B.Wise, makes sense to bond those eyes with metal as much as one can or at least less material so a tooth can't get underneath it as easily. I have to be careful sometimes not to overcrowd the head and also accidentally get super glue on my fingers and an eye stuck to it. I actually like to use a pair of tweezers to help set them before putting on UV resin. Speaking of I need to get me some more Loon UV Clear Resin. I know it isn't the same fly, but putting eyes on spun deer hair is no small chore and quite messy.
The biggest category of flies that I struggle with is dry flies and getting proportions correct, especially with the wings.
I look forward to seeing more quick tips in this series. Tight lines.
Love the tips post! Keep em coming. There fresh and new.
Thanks for watching!!
Can't wait to see what is to come
Great eye tutorial! Thank you.
Great video thank you sharing these great tips. I have 2 questions for you.
1. Where do you get those bad ass eyes from. I see several tiers using them.
2. Do you find that you get better adhesion of the eyes on the material by using the gel super glue versus another adhesive such as tear mender? Or do you choose one over the other based on the material you are adhering to?
I have links to all the materials used in this video in the description. I am a big fan of how fast and precise the Gel Super Glue is, have always used it.
Great video! (Def 90 degrees, don’t doubt yourself.) Any tips on putting these on a DND head? My first attempts fell off in my Plano box. 🙄. Definitely buying gel super glue today.
Seal them!!
@@flyfishingtheozarks what process do you recommend? I tried and under coat of UV flow, cured, then super glue gel on top of that, then more UV on top. Better?
@@flyfishingtheozarks working like a charm! I am def supporting the glue/uv lamp industries.
I hate when you squeeze the hands with your fingers and a bit of glue is on your fingers and it leaves the eyes clowdy instead of the shiny way the living eyes usually come, and my fingerprints stay there. It sucks. Good video
Agreed! BUT, put some Loon UV Resin on the cloudy portion and it clears it right off. (another little tip)
Brian, Kevin is very clearly an allosaurous. Not a t-rex
Oh, man! My wife needs to take him back now. ;)
