Of course! “Baby Blue” is a great song, same with “River Song” from Pacific Ocean Blue, far and away the best solo album but out by a Beach Boy and one of the most underrated of the 1970s, it’s a favorite of mine. My favorite Dennis song is probably “(Wouldn’t It Be Nice to) Live Again”, an outtake from the Surf’s Up sessions that was eventually released in the 2010s. Great tune, the extended version on the channel “Big Joe’s Beach Boys” I highly recommend.
Got goosebumps watching this and the next thing I knew tears were running down my face....The Beach Boys were simply spinetingling at Live Aid....Will always be remembered...iconic....
That's what The Beach Boys would do to your (our) emotions. Their music was Happy, Happy in the early years 1961 thru 1965. Then through the Brilliant (I would say Genius) mind of Brian's song writing their musical journey turned, mostly, into a deeper and more soulful introspection of "Our Collective Human Condition." Bittersweet and Joyful all mixed into one. Like yourself @Midnight Blue, I have often found myself with those same tears of emotion streaming down my face as well. My Favorite Band of all time, The Beach Boys! RIP Beautiful Dennis and Angelic Carl.
I watched the whole great concert live on TV as it happened 13th July, 1985. Their was so much incredible talent at Live Aid. I recorded it all on VHS.
The not-Mike Love faction should never bend. Mike Love is a douchenozzle that basically stole the group. He was a co-vocalist, that's it. Barely played anything, wrote even less, and mostly leeched off the success. Why would anybody bend to that tool?
The first concert I ever attended was in 1988 in Burlington, Iowa at Steamboat Days. The Beach Boys were the headliners. I am now 45 going on 46 and I am forever hooked on their music. In my humble opinion, they are the GREATEST OF ALL-TIME.

And obviously extremely talented. He sang when he wasn't on stage, too. He had perfect pitch. Such a loss. He was one of a kind.💝
There's joy in this stellar performance of a heavenly beautiful song. But when I see Carl like that, I feel sadness too. He left this world way too young.
1401minstrel i know that, I just feel especially in this video and time period, he didn’t get the “credit” for this song. In this video, it seemed other members such as Bruce Johnston and Al Jardine got more attention despite not having a huge part in the production of the song.

My favorite Dennis song is probably “(Wouldn’t It Be Nice to) Live Again”, an outtake from the Surf’s Up sessions that was eventually released in the 2010s. Great tune, the extended version on the channel “Big Joe’s Beach Boys” I highly recommend.
Every vowel, every register transition, every note duration, pitch, tone, everything has to be near perfect with vocals of this calibur.
I can't believe how great Live Aid was.
I love how Carl just sails into that beautiful falsetto. Unearthly.
Carl had such an iconic voice. You can pick it out of almost any Beach Boys recording.
Carl's voice is just so awesome. Love the suit he was sporting.
Spectacular. What a pleasure to hear the Beach Boys. Such uplifting music.
Carl Wilson had an absolute pitch. That's what made him such a great live performer also. Doesn't sing a single off note
Carl was slim and trim here and singing beautifully, as usual!
Wow wow wow!!! Live Aid wouldn't be the same without the Beach Boys represent. God bless everyone and thank you for sharing
Brings memories of a great era on so many ways. Thank you Beach Boys for decades of great music.
I've been watching a lot of Live Aid videos recently and I think my favorite part is Carl Wilson starting Good Vibrations.
I watched the whole great concert live on TV as it happened 13th July, 1985. Their was so much incredible talent at Live Aid. I recorded it all on VHS.
Carl was the glue that kept them together. When he passed that was the end. Now were left with two factions and neither one will bend.
The not-Mike Love faction should never bend.
Mike Love is a douchenozzle that basically stole the group.
He was a co-vocalist, that's it. Barely played anything, wrote even less, and mostly leeched off the success.
Why would anybody bend to that tool?
In addition to his musical talents and his big heart, Carl was one snappy dresser!
Carl was always my favorite Beach Boy. I got to see one of his last peformances ever on his last tour with the Beach Boys.
A real band playing real music. No playback, no autotune.
The first concert I ever attended was in 1988 in Burlington, Iowa at Steamboat Days. The Beach Boys were the headliners. I am now 45 going on 46 and I am forever hooked on their music. In my humble opinion, they are the GREATEST OF ALL-TIME.
Why didn’t I know that The Beach Boys were at Live Aid????
Not in England but in Philadelphia
Same here. I watched it live and I don't think MTV gave them any coverage. Probably thought they weren't young or hip enough for their audience.
I didn't know that either. Nice pfp btw
@@PillsBuryDoughBoy_ it was the guy who ran live aid in the USA was a legendary asshole in us music industry. bill graham he was the most hated concert promoter in America. all the people who worked for him really could not stand him. Harvey Goldsmith said that working with him was a nightmare.
bill smeared the other city venues, as philly was under his thumb and with a week to go until it was broadcast Harvey goldsmith considering pulling the plug as initially the record company bosses would let their artists play due to bill grahams involvement. there is a superb documentary about the whole concert. that covers the whole american debacle and the run up to the concert itself
Rip Carl you’ll be missed can’t believe it was 23 years ago
In Philly born and sadly missed this performance. I so wish I had seen them. God bless Carl. One of the best if not best voices of our lifetime
Brian Wilson was truly the real genius of the boys.
I miss The Beach Boys. They were and still are the best.
I love this video. I remember seeing The Beach Boys in the early to mid 1990's while Carl Wilson was still alive. He sounded great in the concerts I was at but he seems more lively in this video which is great. He sounds great in this video too and sounded great in the concerts I saw him in. It is such a shame we lost Carl at such a young age since he is such an inspiration to me and probably others. I wish I had met him personally. Carl was definitely a quality person and also definitely the glue that held the Beach Boys together. This is a great video.
I met Carl many times. I'm sure you would have liked him. He was humble,"darlin'", and very, very funny. He always gave credit to others, and rarely to himself. Did I mention HUMBLE? And obviously extremely talented. He sang when he wasn't on stage, too. He had perfect pitch. Such a loss. He was one of a kind.💝
missed two chances to see them, but Carl and Dennis were gone, so I felt lost without them.
This song was 19 years old in 1985! The Beach Boys came out of retirement for this event.
There's joy in this stellar performance of a heavenly beautiful song. But when I see Carl like that, I feel sadness too. He left this world way too young.
Carl was by far one of the Best best-looking guys ever. We 1946ers are a wonderful group. Miss you every day.
hard to see Brian pretty much being completely sidelined on his masterpiece.
He gave Carl the lead vocal on Good Vibrations from its inception, so I'm not sure he felt sidelined.
1401minstrel i know that, I just feel especially in this video and time period, he didn’t get the “credit” for this song. In this video, it seemed other members such as Bruce Johnston and Al Jardine got more attention despite not having a huge part in the production of the song.
My guess is that who ever filmed it knew nothing about The Beach Boys
@@brian_b34 I think you mean Mike Love, not Al Jardine. Al didn't get any attention in this particular video.
Maybe Brian didn't want the attention.
So...
Literally every band I ever heard of played Live Aid 1985
You've never heard of the Beatles?
The Beatles didn’t exist in 1985
@@jacobpullen6949 Paul McCartney performed Let it Be so close enough.
Fletcher Lucas It was closer to a Wings performance if anything
Porcelain Submarine But the comment was "every band I've ever heard of" not "every band that was around"
Carl's voice is simply ethereal. Both Brian and Carl had that beautiful falsetto, but I thought Carl's was a little more natural.
Every time I saw the Beach Boys live in concert I was blown away! One of my favorite bands in high school
Not an easy thing to do live, but they nailed it!
I grew up in Carl’s hometown in Hawthorne, CA. I didn’t know Carl is Dean Martin’s son in law.
There's many things not known in this world, maybe this is one of them?
@@legendaryTMNICODean who ?
@@pleun315 Are you joking?
@@camioso yes 😂😂 he was awesome !
That performance went far beyond all my expectations. I know the Beach Boys' music very well and it's nice to see them together at this later stage of their carreer. If only Dennis had sobered up and still been around to play … :)
Post 1968, Dear Dennis was a tortured soul. Nearly 40 years after his passing I still miss him and wish that He could have found his peace and would still be with us today. RIP Denny...
Man I wish Carl was still alive. RIP.
I pray that when I get to Heaven I will hear Carl humming a tune.
Thank you Mike Love for carrying on the legacy of The Beach Boys, do this in honor of the legacy of the Beach Boys
Carl Wilson. great singer, songwriter and guitar player.
Classic lineup! Takes a while, but they finally get Brian in the shot. Nice performance.
Beach Boys are one of my all-time favorite groups! God bless them forever from Pat
I did not remember seeing the Beach Boys at Live Aid 1985. America's Band! Classic!
I loved Carl Wilson . So so very talented not only with the most beautiful voice ever, but as a producer A life cut way too short. "God only Knows". You are singing harmony with the Angels.
This was and will always be the best concert in history
I've seem the Boys many times in concert, and this is undoubtedly the BEST version of "Good Vibrations" live , that I've ever heard!
Live Aid is one of the Marvels of modern history. Brought the Best of humanity
Remember watching this on TV and taping it on my VCR
The fact that carl's voice is still together in 85 and brian's at this was definitely not proves it wasnt just age.
This performance would have been so much better without Mike Love. He was so distracting during Carl Wilson's stunning performance... Carl was on point here though amazing!
Except they're Mike's lyrics
@@80steen44 yeah this is true. I appreciate that we have such an amazing performance to enjoy as many times as we want. When I wrote this comment I remember thinking Love was so extra with his cringe inducing showmanship!
@@JKraylon Yeah, Love was no doubt the Trump of the group. Total narcissist
@@80steen44 why did you have to bring politics into this :(
@@larryli7015 Trump, long before he was the president or a candidate was known to be a full blown prick who never accepted blame for anything but always exaggerated what he achieved. I grew up in the 80s and was a young adult in the 90s and early 2000s. I don't know Trump only as a president. He was a strong presence on social media years before he ran for office. I also know him as an author, businessman and reality tv star.
This is (was) a true hero, for his brother and everyone.
Carl is my all time favorite singer.
I was there! One of the best days of my life!
Perhaps the greatest vocal rock band of all time. Its too bad Dennis had just passed before this show. Live Aid was the days before corporate greed as it is today with all the streaming services. My best high school friend and I watched this concert FOR FREE back in that day.
Sou grata por ter vivido nessa época de tantas canções e grupos maravilhosos! Adoro The Beach Boys!!! Vocal espetacular!!! 👏👏👏💋💋💋💝💝💝
Amazing carl wilson...love his lifework in the band. .great singer..
Not showing a lot of Brian, but he was the genius behind all their hits
Carl was amazing!
KacioRMX heck yeah you’re right
@@greatcitysportaction2289 He had perfect pitch , I understand.
Always
Miss him the most!!
Is he the one in the beard, guitar and long hair singing most of it?
Mike Love trying to pump up the crowd while screaming over them. Classic
It’s amazing, The Beach Boys we’re attracting huge crowds in the 80s. Now they can barely fill the casinos they play at. Sad how time flies.
