Seeing old footage like this makes me really sad. Thanks for leaving this comment, man. It really is amazing when you think about it. I’m a black guy in my early 20s and while my brothers mostly love hip hop, nothing no kind of music will ever speak to me and move me like Pet Sounds and Good Vibrations did, does, and will continue to do so. I just hope I live to see my favorite album turn 100. Maybe I’ll see young people then fall for this music like I did, God Only Knows.
@@marypalmer00 its like anything. By the 70’s. This was old timey music your parents listened to. In came hard rock and new stuff and beach boys and that sound wasnt “cool” anymore. @jovis6995 They were considered uncool after the albums made after Pet Sounds were considered disappointing (Smiley Smile, Wild Honey, Friends, 20/20, Sunflower which i personally love) That, and when they failed to appear in the Monterey Pop Festival in the late 60s, the same festival which boosted Jimi Hendrix's Career. they were seen as loosers that made bad music and all that.
It's more than 50 years old, and was made with 4-track recording technology mixed to mono. Yet, it was so ahead of its time, it caused great anxiety to The Beatles, who responded with "Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane." The sound quality is amazing, especially if you listen to the mono at maximum volume.
Tracks like this defined a higher level of "pop song". Harmony and voices became more complex than before, but melodies remained clear and simple to appreciate. Wonderful.
I feel these guys don't get enough recognition. They were "The Beatles" biggest competition and both pushed each other to pull off better and memorable music that we have today. When I ask others about classic rock they'll mention foreign bands like "The Rolling Stones", "The Who", "The Beatles" but bands like "The Beach Boys" and "The Three Dogs Night" show America had their own talented musicians that could compete with the best.
Thinking the same was there some kind of Priscilla scandal? Because it has been the longest since Elvis got a proper movie. Mama and Papa’s too while im rambling.
When it comes to Three Dog Night they probably don't get much recognition because to most the 60's are way back in time! I do agree with you three dog night had some great songs. I was a kid when I heard them playing on tv. They were good!!!!

1981, Selland Arena in downtown Fresno. All three brothers were still alive, Bruce was in the band again, we must have spent 15 minutes chanting "Gotta keep those lovin' good vibrations happ'nin' with her..." can't deprive me of such great memories.
@@liampughOnly Animal Collective is really good in that list. The rest are just playing the same exact music with nothing new added. Melody's Echo Chamber is alright in that regard though.
I saw them in the 80s or 90s with my mom at the Concord Pavillion in Concord, California. I will always treasure that memory with my mom. This is my favorite song of theirs made the year of my birth 1966.
The Beach Boys story with Brian Wilson, they have a history that is weird and wonderful. They are far out, psychedelic. They have paid their dues a real rock n roll band. You think you know them because your familiar with some of their songs but there is so much more to them. I just can't get enough. I have had to re discover them through all their work.
Although the old crustiness had its charm, I really do appreciate that someone went ahead and updated this, Good Vibrations is one of the greatest songs ever written and it should be treated as such. Smile is the greatest album never made! Beach Boys for life, America's band!
This was my dad’s favorite band, so I grew up listening to this music. It reminds me of being out on the boat in Minnesota. But I just watched the new documentary on Disney+ and now I have my own appreciation for this band and the music.
The audio quality made me think of how in 1966, people would had hear Good Vibrations on their radio stations or from their cars and let me tell you.... it blows minds to hear this compared for what wascoming in the music industry. Like a meteor.
I'm 30 years old this song is not from my time but I can appreciate a good song when I hear one regardless of what type of genre or the date it was released
One time my buddy got way too high in public at a movie theatre, and he felt exposed and scared and I didn’t know how to console him, but the only thing I knew was to get him away from strangers, sit in a car, and play good vibrations to attune the environment to meet his trip needs. And safe to say it blew his absolute mind to pieces in the best way. He’d either never heard the song OR he was so high that it sounded like some crazy new song. But he turned completely around. Felt like a god for saving his life in his eyes hahah
Rollingstone magazine called it one of the greatest albums ever!! Which is Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys and many artists, fact checkers, and lots of people who run the music industry agree, and of course the Smile Album won awards for being the most anticipated RocknRoll Album in history!!So take that with a grain of salt..Oh and I actually produce records so I know what it takes to make "real music"
Similar to "A Day in the Life", and "All You Need Is Love" (1967). Psychotic, psychedlic, top-of-the-line homages to go and get to the inside of your mind. The 1966-68 years had some outstanding songs, and peons to psychedelic music. So many classics of that era, it boggles the mind to recall how many there were! "Incense and Peppermints" (1967) by Strawberry Alarm Clock was one of my favorites!
@@freeguy77 I was born in 1950 and lived through all that. Jimi Hendrix? Joplin? Had all the vinyl. The 70's were great, too. The Eagles, etc. All I hear now are fake instruments with tuned up voices and lyrics that barely register as decent. I could go on but it's time for my morning nap. LOL Take care. And don't forget to "live for today".
THE BEACH BOYS' "Good Vibrations (Good Vibes)" Hits THE Billboard HOT 40-100 Chart on 10/29/1966 for 12 Weeks at No. 1-1 Week (12/10/1966) went Gold & Platinum x6
An extremely well known English DJ, I used to drive around the Club's of the UK during the mid90's is convinced the instrumental break at 2:45 is an extremely early example of studio led Drum & Bass...........the more I listen to the track the more I'm sold on his hypothesis..........
Brian and the Boys were the soundtrack of my young life in Florida. We had sand, surf, hot rods and most importantly GIRLS here too. And it was never officially summer until the new Beach Boys song came on the radio.

From Station 149 in America, great video. When people ask "why does it take so long for the FD to get here?" Know that we have literal rails to get us to the truck, to get to you as fast as humanly possible. We make the Police jealous. Always ready to go and first on site.
Many memories of Newport and the surrounding areas in the 50s, 60s and 70s. Great place to grow up! So sad to see what is has become. 😪✌ LV the Beach Boys!!!
That's a really good idea for a TV Show. Kind of like how the Aquabats are super heroes, The Beach Boys should have had a show where they were firefighters. Maybe they could do a cartoon like The Beatles. I'm thinking like maybe the animation in the Heroes and Villians video.
@sunkintree I was merely pointing out that Brian is still alive. I hate it when people refer to him in the past tense. The fact that he hasn't written any very complex songs in some time is insignificant. And now he has dementia. Still, deep down inside, I'm betting he still knows his craft.
i juste watched the Beach Boys documentary on Disney. They're not from my generation so I didn't know much about them. I never realized how magical the harmonies are.
Invoking the UA-cam magic, and wondering if anyone has more footage from this time? My Dad is in the video around 51 second mark, walking down the hill. And again around 3:05 with the Rollei.

1981, Selland Arena in downtown Fresno. All three brothers were still alive, Bruce was in the band again, we must have spent 15 minutes chanting "Gotta keep those lovin' good vibrations happ'nin' with her..." can't deprive me of such great memories.
No way!!!
Most incredible piece of music in the modern era.
hands down one of the best pop songs ever made, its got so much and hits the mark at every level it travells.
in terms of psychedelic pop, this is in my opinion light years above anything else. Absolute masterpiece.
Tame Impala, Animal Collective, Pond, Melodys Echo Chamber, Crumb. You're welcome.
Made the Beatles look like the 4 pansies.
Yes, i Think the same un the begginning of this song...
@@liampughOnly Animal Collective is really good in that list. The rest are just playing the same exact music with nothing new added. Melody's Echo Chamber is alright in that regard though.
"I have this song playing over and over in my head, I just don't have the words or the melody."
-Good Vibrations (2012)
I saw them in the 80s or 90s with my mom at the Concord Pavillion in Concord, California. I will always treasure that memory with my mom. This is my favorite song of theirs made the year of my birth 1966.
year 2021 and still sounds so perfect , without any doubt a MASTERPIECE !!!
I think that's an understatement, no words can be found for how good this band was.
Yes, this song was an instant favorite of mine when it first came out, so original and fun.
The Beach Boys story with Brian Wilson, they have a history that is weird and wonderful. They are far out, psychedelic. They have paid their dues a real rock n roll band. You think you know them because your familiar with some of their songs but there is so much more to them. I just can't get enough. I have had to re discover them through all their work.
this video is kinda psychedelic in seeming to have nothing to do with the song
The BOYS were my group of choice in my teens and I still love their sound after all these years.
I saw them in concert twice. As good as ever.
one of those Hippie Hits that was close to perfection,, the feelings this tune generates is sublime
This song is so brilliant it brings tears to my eyes. It overwhelms my soul.
Saw them last night in Utica NY. So fun! Seen them over 20 times. Never gets old. I’ll be 70 this year…
Although the old crustiness had its charm, I really do appreciate that someone went ahead and updated this, Good Vibrations is one of the greatest songs ever written and it should be treated as such. Smile is the greatest album never made! Beach Boys for life, America's band!
The silly antics on this video (other than the girl) have nothing to do with the song, and do not treat it with respect.
sneadh1 the silly antics are the best thing about the beach boys
I saw them perform 3 times once before Denny died then twice after! So sad! RIP Dennis Wilson
This was my dad’s favorite band, so I grew up listening to this music. It reminds me of being out on the boat in Minnesota. But I just watched the new documentary on Disney+ and now I have my own appreciation for this band and the music.
Masterpiece
The audio quality made me think of how in 1966, people would had hear Good Vibrations on their radio stations or from their cars and let me tell you.... it blows minds to hear this compared for what wascoming in the music industry. Like a meteor.
Buenas vibras!!! ❤
This music - this is what our world should be like!!! Beach Boys - THANK YOU!!! You lift us all up! Cheers to you!!!
02:53. ❤ 🎶🎵 😊 👌✨😎 aaaaah 😊
The percussion in this song is so simple, yet so perfect and impactful to the song. Just perfect 👌🏻
I'm 30 years old this song is not from my time but I can appreciate a good song when I hear one regardless of what type of genre or the date it was released
I'm here for it ♡ makes me happy w/ plenty of goosebumps...
One of the most greatest songs ever and definitely the most complex track of the 20th century
Jacob Prince If you think this is that complex, I dare you to listen to prog rock :P
Jeppe Vandtved Naw.. Try the Smile Album from 67 or Pet Sounds
kraftwerk pop-muzik
pffff whatever you say pal
Rollingstone magazine called it one of the greatest albums ever!! Which is Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys and many artists, fact checkers, and lots of people who run the music industry agree, and of course the Smile Album won awards for being the most anticipated RocknRoll Album in history!!So take that with a grain of salt..Oh and I actually produce records so I know what it takes to make "real music"
Agreed. Definitely up there with Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen (at least in terms of pop music anyway)
A song that deserved to become part of the American lexicon. So well-crafted and produced it blew everyone away. Still does.
Indeed
If you listen to this through some good headphones (or even bad ones), Brian Wilson's genius is so obvious. So many elements that fit so perfectly.
Agree, if you listen on good audio you realize how next level this song really is!
THE BEACH BOYS' "Good Vibrations (Good Vibes)" Hits THE Billboard HOT 40-100 Chart on 10/29/1966 for 12 Weeks at No. 1-1 Week (12/10/1966) went Gold & Platinum x6
The Beach boys are uniquely legendary. I will love their music forever ❤
I love the silliness of this. Good vibes. Have fun; don’t be so self-conscious all the time.
This is an iconic songs..Prayers for Bryan Wilson
A GREAT CLASSIC OF THE 60s..
The best melody of the 20th century
Arguably the best pop song ever. A symphony in 5 movements.
An extremely well known English DJ, I used to drive around the Club's of the UK during the mid90's is convinced the instrumental break at 2:45 is an extremely early example of studio led Drum & Bass...........the more I listen to the track the more I'm sold on his hypothesis..........
They are fabulous. Before my time, but my favorite. Talent unlimited
This gets played all the time on our local oldies station and I still haven't gotten tired of it. A masterpiece.
Brian and the Boys were the soundtrack of my young life in Florida. We had sand, surf, hot rods and most importantly GIRLS here too. And it was never officially summer until the new Beach Boys song came on the radio.
such good music, so so much love for the beach boys
Well well well, look who it is.
we share only the best music taste their is buddy!
they stole all their shit from chuck berry you tool
kyle simboner last time i checked chuck berry never made anything like this, or pet sounds.. or anything after. you obviously have no clue what youre talking about, go listen to them more maybe u will rethink it
kyle ciarrocchi they took the riff from one song by Chuck Berry and made huge hit with it. they didn't steal it, they got permission from Berry. they respected him a whole lot
Love this song so much. I never saw this particular video before, but that doesn’t matter. Beautiful song about love! 💕 🎶⭐️🎤👏
Love when this plays on the movie 'Vanilla Sky'. Its unusually perfect.
The Greatest and Most Wonderful Composition of pop and rock music of the last century !!! ❤
😪✌ LV the Beach Boys!!!
yeah its now Mexico
I heard this song when it first hit the ole AM radio station and I still get the chills when I hear it today ! its a true Master Piece of Pop Music
Still a fabulous song, happy and vibrant...genius.
The saddest day of my life was when I found out that the Beach Boys weren't also firefighters that slept in the same giant bed...
That's a really good idea for a TV Show. Kind of like how the Aquabats are super heroes, The Beach Boys should have had a show where they were firefighters. Maybe they could do a cartoon like The Beatles. I'm thinking like maybe the animation in the Heroes and Villians video.
@@Rango37 you my friend are genius oml id binge watch that show
Yeah, and the Beatles don't live in a huge house separated by colours and theme...
My favourite record of all time
I never tire of listening to it
Had a blast last night at the fair, listening to their music! Awesome uplifting songs!
Always liked this vid and never forgot it - truly a lovely snapshot of another and better time. The look, the vibe and the fantastic song are magical.
My 'high school days' theme song. Thanks Beach Boys, you made those The Best Times. Good Vibes Forever!
Simply brilliant and timeless!
Brian knew his craft! These songs, will ALWAYS be timeless.
He still knows it.
@@1401minstrel He doesn't make anything as ornate or sophisticated as this though, with the one exception of Rio Grande on his debut solo ablum
@sunkintree I was merely pointing out that Brian is still alive. I hate it when people refer to him in the past tense. The fact that he hasn't written any very complex songs in some time is insignificant. And now he has dementia. Still, deep down inside, I'm betting he still knows his craft.
1:50 dope
Teenage years in the 60’s..best time..bandstand after school..always had the record player on in my bedroom..simpler times…
i juste watched the Beach Boys documentary on Disney. They're not from my generation so I didn't know much about them. I never realized how magical the harmonies are.
Invoking the UA-cam magic, and wondering if anyone has more footage from this time? My Dad is in the video around 51 second mark, walking down the hill. And again around 3:05 with the Rollei.
Kewl!
such a beautiful harmonies
Just awesome. Makes me homesick. Thanks for posting this
What a lot of people don’t understand is this music transcended time and tapped into your emotions and made you use your imagination
I'd say from the comments here people understand.
That sound quality is proper. Sounds authentic, which indeed it is
such good music, so so much love for the beach boys
A GREAT CLASSIC OF THE 60s..
One of the most greatest songs ever and definitely the most complex track of the 20th century
that man holdin a rolleiflex! 3:06
That man is called Van Dyke Parks.
Happy days, good vibrations, it doesnʻt get better than this!
One of the greatest songs ever!
Hermosa cancion ...lindo coro . Todo es perfecto ! Muito bem Beach boy .
This tune ushered in the techno sound for sure! Great song!
This song is such a vibe.
First started loving Beach Boys music as a kid in the late 70s/early 80s, and never stopped. Faves include this, Little Deuce Coupe, Sloop John B, and Wouldn't it be nice?
