We could, like Barbados, become a Parliamentary Republic, with a ceremonial President as figurehead Head of State. No harder, no easier than finding a suitable G-G. Though unpopular in Quebec, the Monarchy has a symbolic importance to the First Nations that signed traités with it. Frankly, I’d let sleeping dogs lie. One advantage that I see of continuing with a Vice-Regal G-G is that he or she could always pass the buck to Prince Charles next time James Bauder, the Convoy leader, offers to co-govern the country with the G-G and Senate. It’s a solution that lets us ignore Bauder without hurting his feelings.
I don't mind having the monarchy, but could do without the governor General. The last few have been nothing but unqualified PM mouthpieces who are representatives and servents of the PM, not the Queen.

Of course for newer generation who don’t care or it doesn’t affect them. However she was our queen and we were protected under her. She provided stability to the commonwealth and free passage in between them, one of the amazing thing under the monarchy is, that we are allowed to seek shelter at another one of those countries if we don’t like the one we are.
