Upgraded to a Samco all silicon hose kit, bigger injectors, and a nice exhaust. Overall, especially these days with how cheap the MK4's are, it doesn't take much money to make it an incredibly fun car that, with the right cosmetic mods, is show worthy in my opinion. Any car that gets neglected will have issues no matter what. MK4 GTIs are good cars. The 1.8t aren't the fastest but for your daily and grocery getters it's perfect. If you want a funner version of this look into the MK4 R32, 20th Anniv, or GTI 337 . It's practical and more roomier than some people think. I have the same exact car, and I can attest that the black interior never stays clean. He could have cleaned it two days ago and it will look like that still
This would look so much better with some coilovers or lowering springs to give it an inch or two of drop. It would also helps with the handling a bit. I used to own an mk4 and after a tune, coilovers were one of my favorite mods I did

These are great cars! They look good, aren't a giant car, easy and fun to drive! an overall great package especially to have the trunk room! My favorite generation especially becuause the golf r32 based off the mk4 golf came with a manual over the mk5 based r32 having an automatic
Can't believe it was only like a year or two later I bought an '07 MkV after this was new. Was a different world from this. Interior a giant leap forward, so was pretty much everything else. MkVII was the next big jump. Great to see how far we've gone!
@TvRF dont know...the mk5 is really the unneccessary thing in between the 4 and 6. Its all about personal preferances, but I think you really have to be a bit weird if you choose a 5 over the 4. also the stats of the cars make the 4 and 6 better. Only thing shit about the 6 is that the R doesnt have the vr6 engine, but if you want that, just get the mk4.
234k on mine and still runs strong, and barely burns oil. I can go 3-5k and it'll be time to put more oil in it. But then it'll be time for another oil change anyways. These things are absolutey "bullet-proof"
