@ I feel like it is still something important to discuss in a video meant to discuss the product especially since she kept saying it was refillable but not saying much else on the topic. If all else refillable packaging is still a waste most times so that was all.
The idea is the refillable plastic containers use less plastic and energy to create and ship. Than making an all new whole packaging and shipping them in stores and customers. They've been doing this in Japan for a long time already. The idea of Fenty's sustainable packaging is great but they just really need to execute it properly. They should take notes from Japanese drug store brands like Hada Labo.
@@Miumiu0404 Yea I have seen some of those where it is a lot less of the container when you buy the refill but this seems like it is still so much packaging that it wouldn't make a super large difference because of how much plastic is still being used.
@@conniehwood You're right. The plastic waste wouldn't make a huge difference. But this isn't just about the plastic wastes alone. It's also about the carbon footprint created from manufacturing and distributing plastic products. And any small carbon waste we can prevent is worth it.

This looks like an attempt to create less plastic waste, but then why are there so many plastic components. It's the marketing and excess packaging for me.
Ikr. Why didn’t they just package them in a big pump bottle like CeraVe or Cetaphil? They could’ve even implemented airless pump technology if they were concerned about a big bottle oxidizing.
My skin loves the whole Fenty Skin line 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️.... the packaging is cute to me and I like the idea of just buying refills instead of having to buy the whole thing. I did have the same issues when I was putting the night cream package together bc I wanted to open the other side so bad haha
The packaging is sustainable if customers like the product. Buying the refills saves plastic over time but if it doesn’t work for your skin it actually ends up being more wasteful than typical packaging because they use so much plastic for the holding jar. My concern would be that Rihana has so many fans who will buy it just to support her then find it doesn’t suit their skin type and they won’t rebuy so it’ll end up wasting plastic.
I can see why people are skeptical of celebrity skincare lines or beauty products in general but I really think Rihanna has tried to do something different here. She launched her make up brand with 40+ shades of foundation and it really pushed other brands to come out with more shade ranges. Here, she's launching her skincare with an SPF that has no white cast + refillable products. At the very least we can credit her for that. Of course..her 3 (now 4) products aren't going to be universal and address every skin concern or skin type but she's putting her name on products that are above average in one way or another. (Ps, at everyone doubting how much celebs know about skincare....they're not the ones formulating products out here. They hire a team of experts and in this case, they work with a parent company that already owns several brands. So stop thinking Rihanna is the one coming up with formulas.)
Can you guys stop acting like rihanna is above criticism? She gets so many passes and hype for everything. Even selena gomez was getting dragged even before her beauty line came out and it turned out to be really good. Rihanna is allowed to be criticized like everyone else
@@MsRaconteur No one said she wasn’t allowed to be criticized so sit down and be quiet. You keep commenting this under everyone’s comments as if it’s suppose to start an anti-Rihanna revolution or something.
yeah, i bought a lot of Fenty Beauty products or Fenty Skin products. Some are excellent, some are poor quality. I definitely want to try every product, because it is Rihanna's ideas in most part. Some products i will buy again (or always), some i will definitely not buy again. For instance the HydraVizor doesn't work for me (i get zits on my face). But Fat Water does. Or Soft Matte Longwear Foundation is not recommended (it impressed me the least of all the foundations i have used so far). However Gloss Bomb and many other products are spectacular. It would be nice if the fabricants of her cosmetic products would take the input from the clients, and make their products better over time.
@@MugurDeBrad I wanted to try Fenty skin but I have acne-prone skin and I JUST got my skin to completely clear up a few months ago from a particularly nasty four year long bout of hormonal acne so I decided against it. Plus the negative reviews put me off and I remember I rushed out to buy Kylie skin and that ruined my skin so I said I would pass on fenty skin because as much as I love Rihanna, celebs have access to a wide range of skin treatments and procedures. I bought her matte foundation when it first launched and I hated it because it oxidized on me like crazy and made me look like an Oompa Loompa so I had to trash it. The fenty beauty highlighters, gloss bomb (the clear 😩), the primers, and the blotting powder are all hits for me and I love them. She has hits and misses within her releases like everyone else though and I think it’s all trial and error and it comes down to what works for your skin and what doesn’t. 🤷🏽♀️
watching you trying to open this hurts, haha! their products are nicely described and very well presented on their website. the packaging itself is actually very thought out. the spatula works well for hygiene purposes and helps a lot for those with longer nails. to pop out the spatula you just press down on one side of it and it should come out right away. i also like how the spatula is not separate and can be stored because with most creams you just eventually lose it. the flip of the lid that covers the spatula can be left open and can work sort of as handle while you twist everything open. it’s much easier to open it that way rather than twisting at it from the middle, especially if you have other skincare on your hands that make it all too slippery. i personally love both the packaging and the product, works very well with my oily skin :-)
I had to look up videos on this product to figure out the lid. I was so confused! But I love the product. It feels amazing on my skin and really moisturising.

One of my favorite things about your channel is that you only give cruelty free recommendations! Cruelty free is ALL I use. You're honestly one of my favorite youtubers. ❤
Me and my severe arthritis will pass on this, packaging not very inclusive. They claim to be "cruelty free"(the term itself has no legal meaning) but refuse to provide details.about their status. Also this does not seem really "refillable", you still have to purchase the part with the cream and as you know yourself packaging is the most expensive part of skincare - so this just means that they are able to profit even more per sale of the "refill". Oh and don't forget preventing people with sensitivities to use it due to the fragrance ... not inclusive, neither is the price point for something made mainly from one of the cheapest raw ingredients.
The refillable packaging is a funny concept when u consider how many people won’t even repurchase it after it just not being a holy grail product for them

Do you really think the refillable feature is sustainable? The assemblage of the package used a lot of plastic already. Too expensive for those ingredients.
Screw refillables. Skincare junkies switch products all the time. How many people will even bother to buy again? Standardizing refill stations and standardizing the packaging would be a more sustainable option. It’s so wasteful for every brand to have their own packaging. Using a standardized container would allow you to refill your container with ANY brand. As a fellow animal-lover, I thought you might like to know this and not support the brand :)
Thank you for this comment!
ngokko no need to thank me! I’m just hoping she likes it/responds so more people can see the truth. Sadly it’s the same with Rare Beauty :( all these celebs seem to be using CF just for show
@@anisaa8803 it’s fucking sad I’m shocked Cassandra doesn’t know yet 🤧 hopefully she sees your comment ❤️
Wasn’t going to buy their products but thanks for the info!!! I hope she likes ur comment

Looove the early detailed review! Still waiting for the added fragrance-free versions of these products though. I really want to try fentyskin, but my sensitive skin just cannot tolerate the mildest of fragrances.
So what is the purpose of the refillable aspect like how much are you going to save it still has to come to you in something so it’s not package free or anything so how is that important (unless the refillable packages are made of something special to recycle)
Do you want the product to be delivered to you and held by magic until you use it? Google is free, their website is free so why the rhetorical, non-issue question?
Oh my dear god. I had such a stern confused look on my face the whoooole time Cassandra was trying to assemble it and stuff that once I realized and relaxed my face, my eyebrow muscles were so *sore* i had to massage it.
🤣
Lmao
Anyone else laugh when she said hyram is gonna hate this hahahah
OMG!!! Finally a company that fits its spatula within the lid to keep it clean and handy.
Wow Cassandra you really nailed well with your acne issue, I remember I saw you for the first time in the Dermablend ad. Keep going, you are a strong woman. Love you. Take care❤
It isn't anything revolutionary. We have cheaper and better moisturizers from CeRave, Cetaphil et al.
I was thinking 40 is alot... at least for a regular person lol
I love cerave
@@MsRaconteur lmao why are you commenting the same thing but slightly rephrased throughout the comment section? LMAO this obsession is real haha
Rose? No. $40? Nope. Engineering degree to get into the package? Nada.
Hello Cassandra, this is totally out of context. But I’ve been noticing, YOUR SKIN LOOKS FREAKING BOMB! It looks healthy and soft 😍
watching you trying to open this hurts, haha! their products are nicely described and very well presented on their website. the packaging itself is actually very thought out. the spatula works well for hygiene purposes and helps a lot for those with longer nails. to pop out the spatula you just press down on one side of it and it should come out right away. i also like how the spatula is not separate and can be stored because with most creams you just eventually lose it.
the flip of the lid that covers the spatula can be left open and can work sort of as handle while you twist everything open. it’s much easier to open it that way rather than twisting at it from the middle, especially if you have other skincare on your hands that make it all too slippery. i personally love both the packaging and the product, works very well with my oily skin :-)
bless her heart, you should have seen the video on how to do it first.
But, I appreciate your honest review. I am going to trying this cream.
Elf Holy Hydration has similar ingredients, plus peptides, and is £12. Also there's a fragrance free version
excited to get my hands on this! my skin's been loving the other products a lot. thanks cass! 🥰
I had to look up videos on this product to figure out the lid. I was so confused! But I love the product. It feels amazing on my skin and really moisturising.
Same here!!! Almost broke the top off 😂😂 But it’s the perfect amount of moisturizing for my oily skin.
@@kirstenrox234 It’s just gorgeous on the skin! I have dry skin and it is perfect for me as well, and I am contemplating buying a refill for when I finish it.
the packaging looks very confusing and very pricy. If you take the brand away, would you pay $40 for this? Maybe not.
At this price point you have A LOT of moisturisers you can choose from.😥
I could pay for multiple skincare items w that 🌚🌝
40 mf dollars for bullshit. That's why im not getting her line because I'm paying 75 dollars for what?
You can get a decent cream for 2€ not 40 lol
Love ur input on everything !! I take everything into consideration when i do my own skincare reviews on instagram. LOVE YOUUUUU
We'd love an updated skincare routine .. YOUR SKIN IS GLOOWING 😍😍😍
Love you insight on these products I'm gonna go an order thanks for your knowledge and education can't wait to see more! 💯
A new brand i see emerging is African black soap, would love to see your review on it
Omg, the struggle. I even went to get a cup of tea. 😅. Thanks for the review because yes, I wondered why she didn't use this for her night time on Harper's bazaar but instead she did the spf.
Thanks for The tips. Best UA-camr 👏🏼👍🏽🤩
Thanks for getting your review out to us so fast! I love how much u explain everything and your voice, tone and hand movements make it so much easier to stay focused because your not monotone ♥️♥️♥️
$40 for a little jar of cream??? aww no PASS I will stick with my $12 ELF night cream or their Happy Hydration cream
love how she always recommends dupes!!!!
The refillable packaging is a funny concept when u consider how many people won’t even repurchase it after it just not being a holy grail product for them
I love how honest u r!
Glycerin, niacinamide, panthenol are all great ingredients.Sounds like nice day moisturiser
Twisting the lid half once you've removed the spatula apparently makes it easier to use
I love how she goes "Hyram is gonna hate that smell". I'm legit lmao
I appreciate ALL the clips❤️
I'm stick to my natural moisturising factors from the ordinary and good old vaseline at night as my moisturiser and occlusive lol
It was so funny watching your first impression an struggles with the packaging
Please do more videos on fungal acne please!! Ive been suffering for over 5 years with it and im only 15 😭. All my doctors say its because of hormones and it just made it worse. Ive always been insecure about it and its there on my whole body. I recently watched your video on teenage acne where i got to know about fungal acne. Please talk more about it because nothing works for me and u are my only hope now. Also ily and ur channel and i hate myself for not finding about u sooner. Also im so late for this video!! Btw have a great day ❤️
FentySkin really shows that Rihanna cares about skin care. It's pricey but if it's worth it to some people go for it.
Not for broken people 😕
@@chaelisa2763 no. But then broke for you is different to broke for Madonna.
yeah! For that reason she puts a lot of fragrance and dyes to hers products.
@@jael8567 some people like fragrance nothing wrong with that. It's not like fragrance DO anything to the product unless you have real sensitive skin.
They're overpriced. There are some really good alternatives Neutrogena Ordinary Cerave that are half if not 1/3 the price
I recently purchased this prior to watching and am really pleased with it as a night cream. I do follow with a marula oil but it's very nice 😁
Hi love! Ur skin is so beautiful and perfect. Skin care makes u even more amazing than it already is 😍😍😇😇
I am so thankful for Cassandra!
Her struggle with the packaging is how 2020 feels like. Love your videos! ❤️ Saludos desde El Salvador
Is it just me, or is this basically (from the ingredient standpoint) just a more expensive version of the cerave daily lotion?
But definitely cruelty free
@@olavihekandjo2928it's still more expensive,so people who can't afford fenty prices will turn to cerave, plus cerave is fragrance free
I opened my package as I was watching this. I too struggled with the assembly at first. I was hoping the other side opened. I don't need the stick. I love the fact that it is very smooth and light. I was actually using my sunscreen at night because it doubles as a moisturizer.
I’ve been using Fenty skin and it actually makes me glow (I was using Clinique before). The night cream lasts a long time. But watching your videos I might try some new items when my Fenty skin run out!
I’m sure my skin could be even better. Have you done a video on TrophySkin Microdermabrasion MD machine? I stopped breaking out once I started using it. (Maybe bc I wasn’t cleansing my skin right 😂)
Thanks 😊
Me who uses sunscreen moisturizer at night because I can’t find anything else: 👁👄👁
same lol
*Anybody else who hates make-up but loves skincare* ?!?
I’m using a combination of Fenty brand and go pure .. both similar but go pure is less money.. both have natural ingredients and cruelty free
How is packaging different ? Essence looks like 'im from ' , sunscreen very common airless pump ( only thing is refillable which is unique ) , cleanser same as any other creamy cleanser , nothing unique !
the cleanser's cap is unique because it twists. same with the fat water packaging. also this packaging has a protective area for the plastic spoon. and its refillable.
@@matinsharifi3823 no I have seen twisting part in some other cleansers too , micellar water has been doing that for ages , usually big bottles do that , so no that's not unique, moisturisers also do that , yes refillable part is though
@@surbhisaini7875 Sure I mean no she didn't invent anything new or revolutionary but it's nice to see this "technology" in a skincare brand that will undoubtedly influence many young people.
@@matinsharifi3823 what about her beauty line ? Is that sustainable?
Loved this!
I love Fenty Eye primer it’s my fave ..
New vid new learnings 💖💖💖
I was rolling when you tried to open the jar. 🤣🤣
😂😂😂 the struggle and confusion with the packaging
Thank you for the review. I personally don't love it. I wake up and my face feels dry and flakey. Going back to the cold cream until I find something better. Suggestions welcome. And I too struggled with the assembly! When I tell you, I did the EXACT same thing that you did, trying to open the other side! When you said, "is that what they wanted?" I Laughed out loud! SO RELATABLE 😂
that product design is crap!
so not disability friendly
I’ve just dumped so much of my skin care because I realized the company tests on animals I’m so glad fenty is cruelty free and I love this channel
ooh now that we are headed into fall & winter can you do a video about those lovely occlusive thicker moisturizers you alluded to ? pretty please ?💕
I'm still watching the review, but I will say I do appreciate that they gave the spatula a place to live in the packaging when it's not in use. I feel like so many of the products I have that came with spatulas don't think about where you are supposed to store them!
The packaging reminds me of Polly pockets. & yes I was born in the 90s lol
I used to love Polly pocket 😭
I have oily acne prone skin and it’s also sensitive so I have to be very careful what my skin can handle if has fragrance in it. I like what she is doing with component & it’s less waste.
But honestly I will probably just stick to my elf moisturizer that has the same amount of product but only $14 CA
Plus it has no fragrance.
Who wants to spend that much time opening a night cream? Like, at night, when you're supposed to relax? Fiddling with it for like 1 minute straight lol. Not to mention that this line is supposed to be really inclusive and stuff but I can't see how anyone with even the most slightly dry skin could use it.
I would love if you made a Skin care 101 explaining ingredients like a video for cleansers and explaing ingredients so we can look for options. Same for toners, moisturizer etc.
People need to stop overhyping this brand seriously....
Who needs Rubicks Cube when u have Fents packageing 😅 with my patient it would probably end up flying trough window
i actually make my own tattoo balm 😺 Thank you by the way, for both this review and the review on the cleanser, toner, sunscreen. I have been wanting to try these products as I like my daytime skincare routine to be pretty basic. I do more with my night routine as I find it relaxing. Your honest reviews gave me a much better idea on whether or not these products would work for me.
I’m not interested in trying this moisturizer but by looking at the texture I think Klairs Fundamental water gel cream is a cheaper alternative and you’ll be surprise how moisturizing is.
Love that brand is more useful
This has nothing to do with this video but could you do a best drugstore/affordable cleanser video for all skin types? I love you and your informed videos.

Cass trying to open the moisturiser is literally me with Nutella
Opening nutella is not that hard tho
@@themango9644 I never said I was a capable individual
@@MarissaCooperButPoor oop- my bad homey
Do you really think the refillable feature is sustainable? The assemblage of the package used a lot of plastic already. Too expensive for those ingredients.
Screw refillables. Skincare junkies switch products all the time. How many people will even bother to buy again? Standardizing refill stations and standardizing the packaging would be a more sustainable option. It’s so wasteful for every brand to have their own packaging. Using a standardized container would allow you to refill your container with ANY brand. (Too bad that Rihanna choose to greenwash people as an easy route instead of taking the initiative to implement refill stations)
Honestly I was prepared to hear biased criticisms but good surprise that Cassandra gave 'fair' review to Fenty. Helpful and informative.
This is like building a cushion for Korean cushion compact.... it’s not that hard- if anything ppl should be focusing on how this green washing even if it’s Rihanna
Now I don’t feel so bad. I couldn’t figure the shenanigan out either.
Well....Until I read the box.🤣🤣🤣
Hi Cassandra, I would really like to see a video reviewing Image skincare products. Especially in relation to acne.
I wonder if they are worth the cost or are there equal but cheaper alternatives?
I still have no idea how to open that shit. Also I feel like the “reusable” packaging is semi useless. It depends on me repurchasing the same product over and over again and takes a lot of resources and materials to create
I would love the company to come up with a ance care line because there are so many of us out there. T
