I have very fond memories of getting Final Fight on the SNES at launch alongside Super Mario World. That might be my most favorite launch of all time. Yeah, it wasn't arcade perfect and I missed Guy but it was a good port otherwise. Then, I got the Sega CD version for Christmas and loved it. I was so happy to finally get the full roster and it really did feel close to the arcade version. It's crazy that was 31 years ago and feels like yesterday. Nowadays, I just play the arcade version on my Arcade1Ups and Multicade. If you would have told young me I'd be playing the arcade version at home one day on an arcade machine, I'd faint.

Seemed like fair rankings. One thing though the GBA version has 3 heroes to chose from at the start and you can unlock at least 3 or 4 more I can't remember exactly how many. These little details make it far superior to the SNES version. I would love to see how good the SNES could do with final fight in the right hands. IF no one has done it yet I bet homebrewers /modders could make a truly amazing port of the game. I know there is an unofficial Genesis/Megadrive version out there. The .32x is one that has great potential for a killer homebrew/ fan mod port as well.
I have 3 copies of this game. Final Fight CD on Sega CD, Final Fight on SNES, and the rare Final Fight Guy for the SNES which was a Blockbuster exclusive.

As a Final Fight fan for me the best version I love going back to currentlly is Belt action collection, but if I had to rank the versions before the PS2 verison I would say Sega CD with CPS1 music from the arcade version is hands down my favorite so far.
I agree with your list. Even though I haven't played the x68000 version, I have heard it is almost identical to the CPS1 game having been used as the development kit by Capcom. Also, I know it's still in development and there is only a Patreon beta at the moment, but Mauro Xavier's Final Fight MD is already my favourite home console port of Final Fight. Himself and his team have done an amazing job with the graphics, gameplay, and a new soundtrack that arguably sounds better on the YM2612 Mega Drive sound chip than the CPS1 original. It already has better colours and more layers of parallax scrolling in many of the stages than in Final Fight CD, which is currently my number 1 of official home ports. I highly recommend you check it out!
Fair list honestly, the only exceptions might be the C64 and Armstrad CPC one Despite looking a bit better, C64 port is at least playable Armstrad CPC is weird though because the player movement is…okay? But the enemies was like teleporting (the sprites animation sometimes doesn't even change too)

Final Fight has gotten more love from improvement patches across all systems than just about any other game, and it's easy to see why. For the vanilla releases the Sharp x68000 is the best, though I notice that the voices are a little on the quiet side; problem with that version is that the Sharp x68000 was well out of the price range for most, and not reasonably accessible to anyone outside of Japan. The Sega CD version is very good with nice music arrangements but it came out quite a bit later (a couple of years I think) past the SNES version, which is a long time to wait. SNES version was solid but limited with having to choose between two variations for character accessibility, a missing stage, and the slowdown issues. GBA version is very good for a portable effort and due to the small screen size has massive character sprites. Amiga version was pretty bad and if Capcom did their own ports for that system I'm sure that it would have turned out better. The great thing is that most of these games have oustanding upgrade patches to smooth out any drawbacks: GBA: Two separate arcade/restoration/enhancement patches, both of which are very good. SNES: Arcade colors and restoration edition and paired up with fastrom patch to take care of that slowdown. Sega CD: Two separate color enhancement patches for the uncensored Japanese version; both good quality. Genesis: Amazing looking homebrew version nearing completion; looks better than the Sega CD version. Amiga: Final Fight Enhanced version; big improvement across the board over the vanilla release.
Let us also not forget about the two-player hack version of Final Fight for the SNES.NSFC, and there was also a three-player hack of the arcade Final Fight as well.
Final Fight One on the GBA also benefitted from 2 secret characters. You could unlock the Street Fighter Alpha versions of Cody and Guy. It wasnt just cosmetic either, thise cersion of the characters had their own dialogue.
I had no idea that some of these ports even existed. I'm American, so for us it was either the SNES or Sega CD version. I actually had both. I got the SNES version when it came out and played the hell out of it, despite the fact that it did not have Guy or the industrial stage. I rented Final Fight Guy from Blockbuster when it was available. I remember buying the Sega CD version for $15 at Toys R Us, several years after it came out and borrowing my cousin's Sega CD console to play it. The time attack mode was unique to that version, which makes it even superior to the arcade. I also bought the GBA version when it came out. For ease of gameplay, the GBA version is best. For arcade authenticity it is the the Sega CD version. Such a shame that Capcom has let this series languish in obscurity. Would love it if they made a Final Fight Four, combing the rosters and keeping the same style graphics.
I only played the SCD version a few years ago, but it’s certainly a better sounding version (mainly because I never especially liked the arcade music) that plays quite well. Major improvement compared to the really boring SNES version.
The thing is having played this in the arcade as an Amstrad owner I was just grateful to get to play a version at home. And at a budget cassette price. At least the Amstrad got all three playable characters unlike the SNES 😅. But seriously that Mega CD version was awesome
It is missing the NES version here, which Capcom made characters in chibi style. The game is surprisingly fun, if we consider tha gameplay alone, I seriously think it is even better than the Arcade.
As someone who played the OG in the arcades, I easily find Final Fight Double Impact on PS3 the best. Better than the arcade and online still works. It is also better than the version included in the Capcom Beat'em Bundle on PS4/PS5
Can't argue with any of your choices. For the 8bit versions they basically shouldn't have done so. However I think if they'd used the sprites from the Amstrad version in monochrome on the Speccy, I think it would have been a serviceable little game.
The Sharp X68000 was definitely not in the hands of many japanese kids at the time, lol. It was *seriously* expensive arcade hardware masquerading as a PC, meant for the most die-hard arcade enthusiasts. That's why it's library was dominated by (extremely good) arcade ports, in fact the devs of Akumajo Dracula (the Castlevania reimagining that later got remade for the PlayStation) were initially skeptical that owners would even be interested in a game that wasn't just an arcade-perfect home port
Surprised, you didn’t mentioned the PS2, PSP and XBox 360 versions from the Capcom Classic Collection. Those were direct arcade ports onto home consoles for the first time outside of Japan (X68000.)
To be honest. If add those types people will argue that it wouldn't be fair because their is no contest. I have added post-ps1 era in todays Street Fighter 2 video and mentioned this there too.
Great comparison video. I'm assuming you didn't include the Capcom Classics Collection Remixed for PSP, Capcom Classics Collection (PS2/Xbox), Final Fight: Double Impact (PS3/X360), Capcom Arcade Stadium (XB1, PS4, Switch) arcade versions because they're emulated?
Shame FF was just cobbled together on the SNES by Capcom, FF2 and FF3 (which is brilliant) both had 2 players so it could be done. Never mind. Great vid
I know it doesn't count for your video format, but the PlayStation 3 version is not only arcade perfect but it also has online play and achievements which are a lot of fun to try to get. Sadly I think it was a download only and I don't know how you'd go about getting it now.
Now you should do a new video including newer versions of Final Fight for those systems like Final Fight Enhanced for Amiga and Final Fight MD for Megadrive.
I got it on the c64 as a kid, you’re right, I did feel robbed. It was one of only 5 “full price” games I bought between 1990 and 1992, one of the others being wrestlemania, which was also terrible. A theme I felt as a kid 😢
The SEGA-CD version is where I planted my flag many years ago. It took forever for me to finally find a copy back when the SEGA-CD was still a thing in stores, and I had to turn to mail order to get it (along with Soul Star, Shadow Squadron, and Brutal: Above The Claw). I think the company's name was VCL or something along those lines. Anyway, the SEGA-CD got a fantastic port. Sure, it got censored a bit, but not nearly to the extent that the SNES version did. But hey, if you got the MEGA-CD version, there was no censorship.
I played the Amiga version, for 20 minutes, before I returned it to the store. That was the last time I ever bought an arcade port on the computer. I wonder if they even tested the games, before they shipped them? Should have been illegal for them, to sell that shit. This was just shovelware. Another reason, why 90% of my Amiga and C64 collection, was pirated copies 😂
As great as the Sharp computer was, it was more expensive than a Neo Geo. Although the games were a lot cheaper. It was like owning an expensive Gaming PC.
It was common feeling back in the day, that Amiga port was severely lacking! First of all, as many of contemporary Amiga games, it was not originaly made for Amiga, but for Atari ST, than ported to Amiga to save money since these computers shared Motorola 68000 CPU! That is why Amiga port has only 16 on screen colors like ST, while Amiga could do at least 32 stock colors, but with use of Amiga specialized chipset, can be risen to even 50+ colors. Also, Amiga had much better sprite, scrolling and sound capabilities, none of which was used, except for hardware smooth scrolling. Sprites and samples (with fewer animation frames) are ported directly from arcade PCB, so that is a plus for Amiga (ST) port, but Amiga had no music, due to greedyness, lazyness, low budgets and deadlines of the publisher! Also, due to lazyness, enemy placements are all wrong and cut scenes and destroyable objects are missing. Athough one button control scheme was servicable, developers didn't made your character loose energy when hitting with (all destroying) roundhouse kick, so it broke the gameplay, since you can just do roundhouse kick and constantly clear opponents! So we played consentualy without roundhouse kick and get kick out of it! Hey, it was still Final Fight at home! Compared to coveted SNES port, which has much better presentation, Amiga has few advantages-most importantly 2 player simoultaneus gameplay but also more than 3 on screen enemy sprites at same time (SNES has only 3 while Amiga could do 4 enemy sprites + 2 players) and also Amiga had sprites pulled straight from PCB while SNES had "approximations" of original sprites and that ugly Sid sprite, replacing Poison! But, SNES had all enemies and more sprite animation frames. Anyway, to prove that Amiga could do much better, recently fan edit of original Final Fight for Amiga apeared-FF Enhanced which rights the few simple wrongs of original port with proper energy depleting roundhouse kick, acurate enemy placements, cut scenes, in game destroyable objects and (excellent) in game music! All things that could easily be done in 1991, if not for developer's lazyness (although there is maybe one reason-original port was made to work on 512Kb Amigas while almost all Amigas and it's games in 1991 were already 1MB). Also, they added more animation frames for all sprites, improved background work, missing enemies and forth playable character-girl from FF2. Now it is very good port athough source code (with preety good collision detection) and ST-ish 16 colors was not improved to Amiga's minimal 32!
My favorite versions are X-BOX original SEGA CD MEGA DRIVE brew!? Gameboy Advance Capcom Home Arcade sticks MAME EMULATOR PC The rest is almost almost unforgivable.
You can play the arcade version in MAME with Sega CD music using MAME's sample system, which takes away the only real advantage of the Sega CD version.
I don’t know if you knew that I think the GameBoy advanced version is best version because it has an additional unlockable characters which are a Guy and Cody from Street fighter Alpha 3 with their own storyline who are not available in any other version. Also, the GameBoy advanced version includes a lost level .
I had the Amiga and GBA versions. Obviously the GBA is the much better version but I hated that they scrubbed out Poison and Roxy on the western versions for Sid! It should’ve been called Final Fight Prude edition instead of FF one.
I Always liked Mighty Final Fight on the NES. Not so much a port but more of a Re Imaging. A much better Idea to make a game Scratch to take advantage of the Console it's Running on, As opposed to the other 8bit ports, Trying to shoehorn in a game that doesn't have a chance in hell of Running Properly.
I do not understand why you bring the x68000 version in some videos and in others you ignore them saying that the x6800 was pretty much the arcade itself so there was no point showing it.
Because if I don't add it, people don't like it. If I do add it. People like it. Honestly. For CPS Games. Generally the X68000 was the development machine for these.
It's possible to play the arcade version with any soundtrack you want using MAME's sample system. Today, there's really no point in any of the ports for that reason.
The Xbox 360 version is the best in my opinion because it is in fact a port of the original it's not emulation, but my favorite port is the sega cd or mega cd it just has a certain feel to it 😊
I will always put the SEGA MEGA CD on top. The 3 new stages with the TIME BATTLE-mode, the CD-music itself, the voiceover-jobs in it, it's all more than the other versions have.... the only minus I give the PAL-version with the 1 credit only, the japanese version has 3 credits at least and is uncut (Jessica in a bra and some blood). ...... But at least you get 1 life after 100.000 points and then 1 life after each 200.000 points, so surviving is no big deal at the end.
Arcade is number 1 still no question, the ps3 rerelease is also good and I like the remixed soundtrack. As far as home console ports and computers go you can take the amigas and the zx spectrums and the amstrad cpc and dumb those all in the trash, the x68000 is the only one worth playing and even that one still runs a little funky. The snes port along with final fight guy is lacking too many things, only three enemies on the screen, no industrial area which means no rolento, North American version lacks Roxy and poison and obviously each version only has two characters with no coop so it’s the weakest home port version to play. The sega cd version has nearly everything with a time attack mode exclusive and a fantastic remixed soundtrack but it also only has 4 enemies on screen most of the time and the gameplay is much slower which means most of the strategies you use to cheap out the cpu wouldn’t want in that version. The gba port has Roxy and poison missing as well for the North American version and since it is based on the snes version instead of you continuing where you were when you died you start back in the beginning of the level which was a big headache to deal with. Also the industrial level music is missing in the level but is still in the sound test which was a weird developing error. Besides that the gba version retains the coop, all three characters with alpha versions of Cody and guy exclusive and all six levels. Plus depending on what difficulty you choose will also depend on the amount of enemies on screen with the harder difficulty having basically the same amount of enemies on screen as the arcade making it my preferred home console/handheld port to play out of them all. Whoever decided to read all this, thank you and take care.
@ thanks I could’ve went a little more specific on the computer ones like the x68000 for example but there is only so much I would write in a comment 😂
Final Fight is easily one of my favorite arcade games of all time. But I only tried the SNES version of it along with part 2 and 3. I never knew that it was released for the Speccy as well, but as an former Speccy owner/lover, I gotta admit, that was god damn awful lol
Anyone who thinks the Spectrum is always the worst hasn't seen Chase HQ. It was a thing of beauty, and one of the reasons why the Speccy is my favorite 8-bit computer of all time. I wish my fellow Yanks realized it wasn't designed to play games at all, and the entire Spectrum library even existing is a bit punk.
Sega CD is definitely excellent Ports There's music sound remixes look fantastic + adding more stage X68000 super close to the Arcade every where , X68000 definitely more than Arcade version + the music sound and sound effects is Arcade Perfect GBA very good version , one thing I don't like is the music sound , the music sound doesn't look good Is OK to listen , the gba do something snes can't do that 3 characters present in select players = Mike Haggar Cody & Guy , Snes got 2 characters 1 is missing Snes good version miss 1 character and miss stage 4 Area industry

@ LOL. Which part of the West Country are you from, bro?
Thanks
The Sharp X68000 cost around £3000 when released in 1987. My pocket money couldn’t stretch that far 😢
You could have got a second paper round?
Mega CD was definitely the best original soundtrack!, SNES not bad just missing character.
100%
To be fair. I don't think you missed much by not knowing about most of them!
Yup. I get that. I guess maybe you kids had the same mindset.
speed is everything with final fight. the snes version plays great and I got so much fun out of it back in the day
Yup. It's certainly got that for sure.
I always found the Super Nintendo version to be very well executed. And very close to the arcade for an early game.
It really was superb for its time 😀
It is missing the NES version here, which Capcom made characters in chibi style. The game is surprisingly fun, if we consider tha gameplay alone, I seriously think it is even better than the Arcade.
It is totally different from the arcade game. Good game though nevertheless.
Yup. Very good point 😀
finally the sharp x68000 version gets more recognition then it diserves 👍🙂
I did some tutorials for it and also released the best of Sharp X68000 a little while back
ua-cam.com/video/jnyBev9Uj_w/v-deo.html
Perfect action retro classic arcade game from Capcom 🎮 from SNES,GBA, Arcade.👍👍👍👍😎😎
Couldn't agree more!
I still love final Fight
Such a solid game.
I believe It’s an accurate ranking 👍. A great game! Thanks.
Awww, thank you very much 😊
Surprised, you didn’t mentioned the PS2, PSP and XBox 360 versions from the Capcom Classic Collection. Those were direct arcade ports onto home consoles for the first time outside of Japan (X68000.)
To be honest. If add those types people will argue that it wouldn't be fair because their is no contest. I have added post-ps1 era in todays Street Fighter 2 video and mentioned this there too.
100% in agreement
Hey, thanks for your comment 😊
Great comparison video. I'm assuming you didn't include the Capcom Classics Collection Remixed for PSP, Capcom Classics Collection (PS2/Xbox), Final Fight: Double Impact (PS3/X360), Capcom Arcade Stadium (XB1, PS4, Switch) arcade versions because they're emulated?
Really. I had to have a cut off point at some point plus games like double impact aren't needed as this isn't the arcade original.
This is a guide for a headstart for you:
ua-cam.com/video/jlOC_TSulXM/v-deo.html
Now you should do a new video including newer versions of Final Fight for those systems like Final Fight Enhanced for Amiga and Final Fight MD for Megadrive.
It's on the to do list 😉
I got it on the c64 as a kid, you’re right, I did feel robbed. It was one of only 5 “full price” games I bought between 1990 and 1992, one of the others being wrestlemania, which was also terrible. A theme I felt as a kid 😢
You poor thing lol
@@JustJamie1983 haha tough times for us all then mate. Great channel too, really enjoyed the vid 👍🏻
@imaca6538 hey, thanks very much 😀
The SEGA-CD version is where I planted my flag many years ago.
Exactly.. the Sega cd truly was the best port of it with X68000 being the ultimate/arcade experience
Excellent video!!! Just one wee bit of friendly advice though is try to use a pop filter on your microphone.
Stick your advice where the sun don't shine
Wow. Didnt know there was a x6800 version of this. Will check it out
It's very good 😀
@JustJamie1983 Just checked my x6800 collection. Barely have 10 games in it. I rarely played it too. Better start downloading 😂
Isnt the x68000 the computer that that many games of this era were written on? Would expect arcade perfect
It was. Mainly the CPS1 era of arcade. That's why I don't include X68000 anymore in my port videos.
Review criteria:
1. graphics
2. music
3. gameplay
4. if the first boss whistles or not 😄
Iconic stuff, right 😀
As great as the Sharp computer was, it was more expensive than a Neo Geo.
Now it is very good port athough source code (with preety good collision detection) and ST-ish 16 colors was not improved to Amiga's minimal 32!
check out final fight MD, a brazilian made homebrew of final fight to the sega genesis without the sega cd
Hey, thanks. Will check it out.
Sega CD Port had the BEST music with CD audio that SLAPPED
Agreed
Wish they could port Final fight 2&3 to Xbox
What about the new MEGA FINAL FIGHT port that plays on the GENESIS-MEGADRIVE whitout the CD?
That's after market and irrelevant to this video.
My favorite versions are
X-BOX original
SEGA CD
MEGA DRIVE brew!?
Gameboy Advance
Capcom Home Arcade sticks
MAME EMULATOR PC
The rest is almost almost unforgivable.
You can play the arcade version in MAME with Sega CD music using MAME's sample system, which takes away the only real advantage of the Sega CD version.
@@bobsaget9182 I don't know how to do that, but that sounds cool. And i've heard of it before, Nothing wrong with the SEGA CD version in my eyes too.
I don’t know if you knew that I think the GameBoy advanced version is best version because it has an additional unlockable characters which are a Guy and Cody from Street fighter Alpha 3 with their own storyline who are not available in any other version.
Also, the GameBoy advanced version includes a lost level .
GBA port & Mighty Final Fight for me
Thank you
Hey, thanks for your comment 😊
I had the Amiga and GBA versions. Obviously the GBA is the much better version but I hated that they scrubbed out Poison and Roxy on the western versions for Sid! It should’ve been called Final Fight Prude edition instead of FF one.
Hey, thanks for your comment.
An absolute cracking Nes game that was.
That Amiga port certainly wasn't salvageable from a gameplay perspective, but it's still a bummer that they re-used those washed out Atari ST sprites.
Yup. Their is an enhanced version now which is a massive improvement.
The Sega CD version is the best. Arcade perfect and Sega CD has the best sound .
Thaks for your comment.
There's a stock Genesis version of the game that's shaping up pretty well, too. The design team is a stage and a half from finishing it!
As good as the X68000 port looks it only allows 3 enemies on screen where as the Sega CD allows 4. Sega CD for the win
Nes "mighty final fight" is the best of all of them.
An absolute gem of a NES game too. The ZX Spectrum even had a port.
I think snes final fight had the best music.
It's possible to play the arcade version with any soundtrack you want using MAME's sample system. Today, there's really no point in any of the ports for that reason.
The Xbox 360 version is the best in my opinion because it is in fact a port of the original it's not emulation, but my favorite port is the sega cd or mega cd it just has a certain feel to it 😊
Yup. I get what you mean 😀
I like the GBA Version!
It's a lovely port.
Hey, thanks for your run down 😀
@ thanks I could’ve went a little more specific on the computer ones like the x68000 for example but there is only so much I would write in a comment 😂
La meilleure adaptation de final fight est celle de la MEGA CD... en terme de console de jeu...🎉
Hey, thanks for your feedback.
@@JustJamie1983 you welcome !👍
Where is "Final Fight MD" Version ?
That's a recent release and didn't need to be here.
Você deveria jogar o Final Fight MD para Sega Genesis, prova que o console poderia receber o port.
Yes absolutely.
Arcade is the best version
100%
What about the NES Mighty Final Fight?
Hmmm, why isn't that one here?
Guessing Mighty Final Fight is too different to count as a port.
Sadly, yes. Great game though.
Unless I missed it somehow, you forgot the PS2/PSP port of Final Fight in Capcom Classics Collection...
No. I didn't forget it.
Final Fight is easily one of my favorite arcade games of all time. But I only tried the SNES version of it along with part 2 and 3. I never knew that it was released for the Speccy as well, but as an former Speccy owner/lover, I gotta admit, that was god damn awful lol
It truly is arcade gold.
@@JustJamie1983 I 100% agree!
"HYEEEEEP!"
"MOHOOLIAAAAAAA!"
Any port of any game on the ZX spectrum is instantly considered the worst port. 😮
Not necessarily, surprisingly. Other videos i have done recently
Into the eagles nest was brilliant on zx spectrum better than amiga
Had this on my spectrum was truly awful somehow managed to complete it
they are remaking the amiga version iirc
It's been out for a little while now. FF Enhanced.
Sega CD is definitely excellent Ports
There's music sound remixes look fantastic + adding more stage
X68000 super close to the Arcade every where , X68000 definitely more than Arcade version + the music sound and sound effects is Arcade Perfect
GBA very good version , one thing I don't like is the music sound , the music sound doesn't look good Is OK to listen , the gba do something snes can't do that 3 characters present in select players = Mike Haggar Cody & Guy , Snes got 2 characters 1 is missing
Snes good version miss 1 character and miss stage 4 Area industry
