What an amazing variety of pieces you have! You’ve made me want to re-visit Nova Scotia this summer, just to come to your shop! Thanks for sharing these videos with us. As a developing potter myself, you’ve been a wonderful inspiration!
Such beautiful talent. So many different styles. Just stunning. You’re so wonderful to share your tips and techniques. Is your show room across the street from your working studio? Do you live in either ? Yes the CoVid has reduced tourism and sales everywhere. Great time to produce. Thank you. Stay safe. I had a gallery years ago and miss it. Your so knowledgeable in how you video and market. Wish I had those skills. Love your Horse pitchers? Or sculptures they have old worldly sense of style
Your stencil pieces are a treasure. I hear you on the comment of the hand cutting and work level. But they are so special and I appreciate the Beaty of them and your point about machine cut wouldn't have the same look. Artist appreciation to you and Jackie both.
LOVE the horse and cat stencils! BEAUTIFUL!……and the landscape tiles! As for myself, I’m throwing again after many years, right now…..Your work will provide MUCH inspiration!
Such a beautiful showroom, everything looks so lovely. I'm so impressed by the variety of the pieces you have. I'm like many others - once we have time and can travel safely, we'll be knocking on your door!
Wow!!! You’re work amazes me every time I see it! The variety is just amazing and PERFECT!! Your wife’s pieces truly compliment yours as well. I hope we get to see more of her and her work!
Great looking work Vaughan! I love it all . I guess that's what makes it so hard to chose. I'm almost ready for a bisque firing myself. Just learning. Watching your videos is so inspiring. Thanks.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏!!! A feast for the eyes Vaughan! Such gorgeous art work from you and Jacqueline! I had hoped to take a road trip up to you last summer... But this awful Covid rates kept me home. Hopefully by this summer it will be ok for everyone to travel again. Jacqueline I certainly understand being camera shy, I am as well. However I'd love to see your technique for your leaf plates. I have tried several times and they are just ok while yours are gorgeous and dimensional. Stay safe, learn that guitar Vaughan, and give yourselves that month off! You both have earned it. Who knows what creations you both will come up with a break in your very busy usual schedule. Happy New Year to you both!
Thanks Connie. I am enjoying a quieter month, even though snow shovelling is the cost of winter up here. I keep asking Jackie to do a video, she watches many artists on youtube and I keep telling her "you can do that". May be one day.
Your show room is stunning and thank you for the tour. I enjoyed looking at everything. You and your wife are incredibly talented. Thank you for sharing. Cheers
Looking forward to 2022 and fingers crossed, Jackie will share in some videos how she produces her beautiful works too. Love the showroom and how it is setup showing off all the wonderful works you both do. I hope you will get to practice with the guitar Vaughan and I don't see any reason you can't incorporate it into your pottery videos. Looking forward to watching your videos with Vaughan Smith's guitar accompaniment in the background. You two stay well and enjoy this next year in good health. Cheers...Freddie
Lucky I live in BC, because if I lived in your area I'd be broke all the time. 😁I'd be interested in seeing a UA-cam video showing the process you and your wife use when you make wall tiles.
I learned to throw at age twelve studying under a master from Manchester. My career has kept me fully occupied for the last half century but now I'm all motivated to return to the craft with more passion than ever. Thank you for your inspirational work. I will also be in contact to purchase. Your B&W carved designs remind me of a cross between scrimshaw and woodcuts. Amazing!
@@Vsmithpots Hey Vaughan, I wanted to share that Hsinchuen Lin is our resident chattering master here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Your Asian brother with a different mother? ua-cam.com/video/d4jfDkxfSOk/v-deo.html BTW I'm an ex-pat born and raised in London, Ontario. Completed three years of the BFA program at the University of Western Ontario. Switched to an apprenticeship as a laser scanner operator making color separations for the printing industry. Those skills have allowed me to live and work in Hawaii and California most of my adult life. Cheers!
@@Wayinsworld I watched a lot of his videos before I started doing my own, the pandemic stimulated a lot of surprising new developments for people. My wife' s family is from London, Ontario. It seems life has been good to both of us.
Bonjour du Sud de la France et bravo pour toutes vos belles créations ! J'ai envie de traverser les océans pour découvrir votre merveilleux travail ! Continuez à nous régaler....
How could I get one of your lamb or goat jars with ladel? I'm in NY but hopefully won't be paying triple Nova Scotia prices! Lol.. Just heard you mention schooner race, and was reminded that I learned to sail on the "Heralda", sister schooner to the "Bluenose" out of Nova Scotia..
Hi, I can send you pictures tomorrow or you can send me a screen shot of the one you want. In US dollars they are about $65US, I have them at $85CA here. Shipping is an=bout $30 to NY. My email address is vsmithpots@eastlink.ca
Hi Vaughan... beautiful tour. I would live to buy your blue mug at 37.02 on the timer please. I will scout around for your email address but can you save it for me? I'm in the UK. 😀
Tea bowls are a Japanese tradition, thousands of years old. The tea cup was a European adaption in the 18th Century. Until that point they all used chalice/ goblet type vessels for drinking. I like the feeling of the heat through the clay wall as I drink. Obviously not boiling hot.
Geez, “if we like anything?” What is there not to like? So much talent in you & your wife! 🥰
Thank you, it makes it all worth while.

If I get to visit Nova Scotia, I'll surely visit your studio. Love the crow pieces!
I love the mugs, etc, with crows.
Are the items covered with black slip, then scratched off?
If so, did you use a template for the slip?
Your showroom is beautiful.. love it
Thanks
Perfect Sunday morning, coffee, toast and marmite and a tour of your studio. Good stuff 👍

Sadly no more Pubelle appearances, we will miss her. She had a tumour.

Are there any types of ceramics you should not display on the propane stove? (Potential cracking or other issues?)
I think pottery can take that heat, it is not that hot on the stove top. Wood stoves would be different.

Are tea bowls an English term? What about tea cup. How do hold them so hands don’t get too hot ? 😂
