I'm absolutely OBSESSED with your glaze combinations! The Randy's Red and both Temeko Golds are outstanding! Thank you for being so generous with your techniques and information!
Excellent work. Just awesomely fine. Can I make just one recommendation that I saw years ago in an English pottery maagazine article called "The World's Finest Mug"? A flat piece of clay attached to the top of the handle and abutting the side of the mug for the thumb to press down on to keep the mug more seurely in hand. A small roll of flat clay attached horizontally abutting the side of the mug under the lower end of the handle for the little finger to also help secure the mug more securely in the hand. I once had a mug made this way which I purchased from a potter in New Zealand. I purchased it because I remembered the information in the Article. Best mug I ever had in my hand. Keep sharing on UA-cam. Never stop making such beautiful things. Thank you for this lovely video.
It is hard to visualize the mug from words. I have seen mugs with all sorts of finger holes/handles and never made those because fingers are different sizes. Keeping it large enough for 3 fingers is the key element. Handles take as long as throwing the mug so keeping it simple for economic reasons is important too. Thanks for the tip, I will watch out for a visual.
On your stoppers perhaps liquid latex would work. You could build some layers for a durable surface. You can get it from your local pottery supply. I’m not sure if it’s safe if people may have an allergy. You had some very beautiful results
Vaughan, it definitely looks as though 2022 is working for you. What a great set of loads, the Harris Temmoku mug with the variegated blue looks terrific on the video. It must look really good in hand. All pots looking beautiful! Cheers...Freddie
Yes Harris Ten Moku is looking very nice now. I just ran some tests and will post soon. I am still searching for a black Ten Moku that breaks to brown where thin. I may try black iron oxide.
Goodness sakes! I love them all! Also intrigued by the disk you set on your burner... It goes directly onto the electric element on the stove? Occasionally I'll get questions from people about ceramic you can do that with and until now I didn't think anything had been invented yet for that. Amazing. You should have enough inventory for a good while. Hope this season is one that makes up for the past couple of years! All the best to you both!
Wow!!!! Your bowls are absolutely incredible. The chip and dips are great as well. I love the speckled clay. I know I’ve asked you before but don’t remember what you said, but why do you use stilts under your mugs? Do you ever have problems with your pots bowing from using the stilts? Thanks soo much Vaughn. Are the new shelves the crazy expensive black ones? I’ve never seen anyone out kiln wash on them. Are you liking them? Sorry so many questions. May I suggest that you also market your Pickling pots as compost pots!! The compost pots are so hard to find and they are always so darn ugly!! Yours are absolutely amazing, as is all of your work.
Thanks, I already do Compost jars and the stilts do not make smaller pieces warp. The flatware does warp on stilts so I wipe the glaze off those. The shelves are advancer and very expensive. You are supposed to bat wash them because smooth white clays like porcelain will stick to them. They are a good investment, I have had mine 2 years and when glaze runs from the pot onto the shelf it just lifts right off without cracking the pot. Then I grind the glaze off. This has saved me lots of pots/ money. Thanks for watching the videos.
I missed a lot of your videos. In February I was diagnosed with Esophagus cancer and had to have surgery to remove it. Success. But I may have another on my spine which we are working on at MD Anderson in Houston, Tx. But it always does me well to watch you work. Love your pottery. And I have listened and applied some of your techniques on my own pottery. Soon I will be getting back in my studio. And things will get better. Thanks for always being an inspiration.
Thanks Marko, glad you are on the mend. We have a hard time even seeing a doctor, the hospitals are all at capacity with Covid. So many people are falling through the cracks here. I am just hoping all these aches and pains are arthritis. Thanks for watching.
You mentioned that you need to box all your lovely pots for the summer. I’d be interested to know if you have a system you use to keep track of your inventory. Do you use a spreadsheet? Do you include pictures? I suppose you keep like with like (mugs with mugs, plates with plates?) or do you box up based on the glaze color you’ve chosen? Your pots are so very lovely. I must get an oatmeal glaze. Every pot you showed using oatmeal somewhere in the glaze layers are gorgeous.
Nothing so hiTek. I just have the boxes numbered and contents written on the box and a master sheet for quick reference. The boxes are stored in numerical order around the studio. I do try to store similar items in a box. Thanks for watching.
Loved this kiln opening. I wonder if you could use Plasti Dip on those bottle stoppers. I've used a similar product on my jeweler's tool handles. There are other similar products but this one is sold here in the hardware stores. I also see one called Dip & Grip and another called Tool Magic.

So many beautiful glaze combinations. It's fun to watch your reaction as you see the next beautiful piece come out of the kiln!!
Thanks, I got some little beauties today, will post in a few weeks.
They are just lovely!

You are welcome.

The summer glaze combination is a winner. Beautiful, happy colors.
Thanks, we need to wake up to those colours.
Wonderful kiln openings. Thanks again for sharing. 😊 You have such amazing skills with the glazes!

I LOVE the turquoise! You should use it much re often. 😊
It is nice and around here it sells well, thanks.

You had some very beautiful results
I will look for it at the hardware store. I tried a rubber band that worked a little. Thanks.
I like those crocks! A disc that fits inside and holds the sauerkraut under the liquid would be great in those.
Beautiful mugs and bowls, but, are you really as calm as you seem?
That must be the blood pressure meds. Thanks.
Love the tagines, they great!
Love everything you make and more your experimenting spirit and joy of pottery!
I love it too, still lots to learn.

I think that the fermenting pot is called a Onggi if its for Kimchi. Thank you for your videos as always, amazing!!
Thanks for watching. I sold one so I will see how they like it.
Beautiful pieces coming out of your kilns! Maybe you can do a video of cooking with your Tangines?
I tried one out and it worked great. Where would I put my cats if I did a cooking video?
@@Vsmithpots Děkují i Vy se opatrujte a ať Vás vysoký tlak nezlobí 🙂😉🤗

The season has been good and my inventory is declining, room to make more. Got to keep busy.

The name for the jars with the lids are called fermenting jars, if no one has mentioned it yet.
Thanks.
Those are pickling crocks…lovely

Plasti Dip might work for your stoppers. I have no idea if it is food safe. It is intended for tools.
I checked it out and it does not say food safe . Thanks.
Very very nice, I use blue masking tape as I find duct tape to be too sticky.
That is true, I think I use the stuff every day.
I'm going to try throwing with skin tight Italian leather gloves with all but the little fingers cut ✂ off.
Where do you sell your glaze book at? Beautiful colors!!
It is not my book, it is

Oh, thank you! I thought you had referred to it as yours. Thank you for replying!! Love your work!
love the bottle stoppers. Question - why doesn't it stick to the kiln shelf post? It looks like the glaze is on the bottom of the bird?
The under side is glaze free. Thanks.
Most beautiful again! What was the name of the glaze book you mentioned? I couldn't quite get it.

Would an O-ring work for your bottle stoppers?
I am going to try Bees wax. Thanks.
Check out plasti dip for your stoppers.
I do not think it is food safe, I am going to try bees wax.
Fermentation pot
Thanks.
