    "INJs are going to have to wait until it all clicks"
    Damn, that's the exact word I used to describe my brain in school- whether I was grasping a subject or not depended entirely on whether it "clicked" for me.

    Speaking as an IJ, and specifically an INTJ, I've noticed how exactly inwardly focused I actually am. I'm at my best when I'm alone, in my mind just observing trends and analyzing things about what strikes my interest; I tend to get extremely stressed when I dont have that alone time, its not just a want of mine but quite literally a need.

  • @ethanmcfarland6606

    Speaking as an INTJ myself, I definitely think that, while IJs are typically late adapters, they adapt the most to things once they internalize it within their Pi system.
    Like, “Oh yeah, near the end it’ll feel like your skin’s falling off, but that just means it’s working properly. You get used to it eventually and, hell, I even kind of like it because it means the process is almost over,” kind of stuff.

    Ni and Si can be hard for me to differentiate some times. Knowing the difference between concrete processing vs abstract processing has really helped me find the correct types for some people. I had someone who thought they were INTJ, but they were too concrete for me to agree. After really researching the functions and her need for concrete, we found out she ESTJ. Not even an introvert... But living in shadow functions will lead you to believe certain things about yourself. Functions don't lie! If you truly want to know your type, the functions are the best way to go 🥰💜

    • @jankom.7783
      @jankom.7783 Рік тому +2

      It's Ni doms who engage in the mechanics of the world. They expect Si from others - to point out specific, concrete things and how is it different than expected (like "There is a strange noise coming from the engine compartment. As if a Lepricon is hitting metal with a tiny hammer" - an actual example of a pilot leaving note to a jet engine mechanic).
      Si in dominant positon is "go talk to strangers" function. "The strangers" (Ni people) know what is going on. But you need to establish sufficient concrete vocabulary with them to understand what are they trying to say to you. So you can solve the problem with their help.

    Love this series! Yes, I'm 100% an IJ.
    It is strange, when new information is introduced to me, I feel like I initally just absorb it and then don't think about it. If I do try to process the new information right away, it's overwhelming. But when I come back to it later, I understand it so clearly. And overall, yes, this makes me appear slow to react and adapt, but it's just how my brain works.

      I so relate to that. It's as if my mind needs processing time to understand the meaning or ramifications of new things. The understanding often won't come immediately, though sometimes it does.

    I legit never thought about the need for alone time. I married an IP so I am gifted alone time daily. But, part of the reason that we work together so well, is that I do consider it a gift not something that is hostile.

    This is why I'm not an 'early adopter' and want to research, study and observe something for quite a while before engaging with it myself. I talked with a girl I was set up with by mutual friends for two weeks before asking if she wanted to go out on a date.
    I never upgrade to new tech right away. I don't get a new computer OS until they stop supporting my current one. I'm getting my first touch screen snart phone tomarrow. I've been using flip phones for decades.
    I'm not one to like the spotlight. I'd much rather help behind the scenes. I've got to feel pretty comfortable with people before I'm willing to start to converse with them.
    I had a visit with a new family doctor today. Was so nervous about all week leading up to it. When he asked if I was seeing anyone about my depression and anxiety symptoms, I said that the very idea of doing so made me feel worse.
    I need a lot of alone time. When I don't get as much as I need, I feel overwhelmed and mentally exhausted. I've had to quit jobs in the past that were just too chaotic, noisy and in too crowded spaces where I felt like I had no time to think for hours on end. The stress of it woukd affect my health to where I was getting sick easily and having a lot of sinus infections and flu.
    Most of the time, my alone time is spent imagining things that interest me ir entertain me, but don't have much to do with whats going on around me. Not planning, more like daydreaming. I'm never bored. I can entertain myself for hours, even without external stimuli.

    Depending on the company I'm with, alone time is not compulsory. My GF and I call it low-power mode. She understands that while I may be physically present with her, I will not be nearly as interactive. She understands and is ok with it now.

    8:30 my alone time as an extrovert is never exclusively in my own head. It’s working on projects, playing on video games, learning, etc. Could just be chaotic sleep last EP energy, too, but I think you generally nailed it from the Exxx perspective

  • @syedmazharhasan6803

    Very nice video. Completely agree with all points.
    I am INTJ. Here are my 2 cents:
    1) We are usually self motivated people. We do not need daily inspiration and stimulation to go about our business.
    2) We usually have a strong sense of moral code. We do not like it if you over step our boundaries.
    3) We do care about the tribe and people's needs, unlike contrary belief. We just dont need it as much as EXXJs.
    4) We dont usually jump on the "trendy" band wagon. We only do something that we actually like or care about. In that regard, we are slightly "conservative".
    5) It is usually quite easy for us to understand both sides of an argument at the same time and analyze it.
    I hope you get actual IXXJs next time on the panel and make it into a full interview 😄

    The "trust fall" is an interesting litmus test. I trust very few to catch me. But, I can see myself being okay with a trust fall with a stranger also because I trust myself to catch myself. With a stranger, it would be more of a fun game, testing my ability to adjust physically in the spur of the moment to catch myself should the stranger fail to catch me. That doesn't seem like something an IxxJ would be comfortable with. 🤔

    • @AdoptionLawSourceTrinity
      @AdoptionLawSourceTrinity 2 роки тому +1

      I think I disagree that introverts don't spend their alone time thinking about external things. For example, just this morning, I lay in bed thinking about how to jerry-rig my bird bath without spending $$. I turned different potential repairs around in my head for over an hour before getting up to test out my idea.
      Other times I will spend time in my head thinking about patterns of thought and behavior.
      It's a fairly even split between external and internal problem solving etc and rumination I need daily time alone with my thoughts for both.

    • @samuelunias673
      @samuelunias673 2 роки тому +3

      @@AdoptionLawSourceTrinity I believe she was trying to help people to differantiate how introverts and extraverts take alone time. The point is that introverts need to recharge by approaching personal interests/matters. This does not exclude the possibilty of thinking about other things, eventually.

    Hm. I think it could be interesting if you could expand on the concept of extraverts thinking about outer world stuff, when they're alone. Isn't that also a way of preparing for entering the outer world? Like an INTJ would? But I guess that you could ascribe it as the workings of Ni-Te.
    So, my question was: Could you expand on the following eventually?:
    The exploration of the inner world: What does that look like exactly?
    And does extraverts and introverts use the alone time differently? And what does the inner world of an introvert actually look like? The more specific examples, the better.
    But this is just a request 😁

    • @JoyceMeng22
      @JoyceMeng22  2 роки тому +8

      I can see why you would relate! I would say to not fixate on how you do the action itself in this example, but on the reason WHY you do it. Everyone can do everything. It's just that ISFJs and ISTJs have a higher statistical likelihood of doing detailed research because the Si craves to know the specific details, combined with desiring security, certainty and safety, they can want to know everything beforehand so they don't make any mistakes and avoid chaos.
      That being said, anyone who has trauma or social anxiety can relate to wanting to know things in advance and not wanting to be caught by surprise. They can have "IJ"-like qualities, even if they are not one.
